Chapter 81: Splendor
An old man stepped forward, cold and merciless, and declared Ye Fan's fate: he was to be executed immediately.
“What are you so arrogant about, old geezer? Can’t you see this Emperor is here? Get over here and pay your respects!” The Black Emperor swaggered, pressing his four massive paws on the ground, his bright red tongue lolling out as he bellowed.
As a Supreme Elder of a Sacred Land, he was incomparably esteemed. Who dared speak to him in such a manner? Being ridiculed by a dog infuriated him beyond measure. He desperately wanted to curse, but constrained by his status and dignity, he could only swallow his words.
“You scruffy mongrel, this Emperor is talking to you! Did you hear me?” The big black dog squinted, saying, “Don’t you enjoy convicting people? Well, I’ll hand down a judgment for you too! Come here and face your death!”
“I’ll butcher you!”
Even a clay figure possesses some spirit, let alone a prominent figure of such high standing. Who dared defy him? He instantly flew into a rage.
“Damn it, wait a minute!” The big black dog extended a massive paw forward, tilting its head, without even glancing at its opponent, stopping the man.
“Is this a one-on-one duel, or a group brawl?” The big black dog bared its fangs and asked, spewing vulgarities, yet adopting the demeanor of an otherworldly master.
“It’s just killing a dog. What’s with all this nonsense?”
“Nonsense your grandma! Are the two of us fighting a life-or-death battle today, or are you a bunch of old men going to gang up on this Emperor?” The big black dog’s crude language made the man’s chest ache with fury.
“Damn it, I’ll finish you off right now!” He finally couldn’t tolerate it any longer and burst out cursing.
“What kind of person is this? Lived for so many years, yet still speaks so disrespectfully, without any refinement,” the big black dog remarked.
Everyone was bewildered. This dog had been cursing incessantly, yet it had the audacity to accuse others of lacking refinement. Truly, it was an outrageous creature.
“Whoosh!”
The Supreme Elder, having reached the end of his patience and feeling his head about to burst… pointed. A black light ripped through the air, piercing towards the Black Emperor’s skull.
“You’re utterly devoid of character! You ambushed me!” The big black dog howled, opening its massive maw, and declared, “This Emperor demands an honorable, fair, and just fight to the death with you!”
Everyone felt a headache coming on; this dog was utterly insufferable. Some wished they could immediately set up a pot, boil it, then add oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, stir it up, and devour it.
“For the sake of fairness, let’s go outside for a life-or-death battle, one-on-one! When this Emperor makes his move, it will surely become a classic for the ages!”
“This dog is truly infuriatingly slow! Old Qi, go outside and quickly finish it off!” Many people could no longer bear it.
The big black dog shot out like a wisp of smoke, more gleeful than a rabbit, fleeing instantly into the distance.
“Damn it, you dog, stop right there!” Old Qi’s face contorted with dark fury, utterly enraged.
“Go to hell! Do you think this Emperor would actually stoop to your level? Let’s part ways now, and meet again in five hundred years!” The big black dog sprinted away furiously, turning its head to babble, “Little Ye, hang in there, I’ll come back in five hundred years to avenge you!”
That outrageous dog! Everyone cursed it.
Unfortunately, its joy was short-lived. With a “thump…” it was knocked back. Unseen masters had sealed off all directions, ensuring not even a bird could fly through.
“Ow!”
The big black dog let out a miserable yelp, flung sideways and injured. Taking advantage of the momentum, it landed near Liu Yiyi.
She had been cast aside, ignored by everyone who deemed her useless. The Black Emperor successfully snuck over and hoisted her onto its back.
In the shadows, an extraordinary master lay hidden. A Great Power-level expert emerged.
“Damn it, this Emperor will fight you all to the death!” The Black Emperor raged.
“Raging Emperor, come here!” Ye Fan secretly transmitted.
Unfortunately, masters had isolated them, preventing them from converging. Silently, several old men appeared, suppressing the four directions. There were indeed Great Power-level figures among them!
“They truly think highly of me…” Ye Fan marveled, noting that even Great Powers had arrived.
“You dead dog, ah…” Old Qi, who had charged forward, clutched his throat, letting out a miserable shriek. His headless body toppled to the ground, and a rainbow light flashed by, reducing his head to a bloody mist.
“What was that?!” Everyone was stunned.
In the big black dog’s paw was a black wooden box, within which lay a one-inch-long miniature sword, trembling faintly and flickering with sword energy. It was this very sword that had just flown out and beheaded a Supreme Elder.
“Who would have thought something from such a forgotten corner would be so effective?” It was clear, of course, that this was something the big black dog had retrieved from the Ancient Emperor Mountain.
Several old men surrounded it, forming a standoff and not daring to advance.
Amidst the grand snowy peaks, ancient ice pines stood robustly, their branches reaching skyward. The frigid wind howled, stirring up countless drifts of snow, and ice shards splattered.
On this side, numerous figures flickered, and Ye Fan was encircled. Disregarding the situation with the big black dog, everyone prepared to launch a simultaneous attack to kill Ye Fan, denying him any chance of escape.
The Vanishing Beginning Saintess stood among the crowd, her face pale, one jade-like arm ripped off. She was drenched in sweat, and her waist-length black hair was stained with flecks of blood, nearly causing her to faint.
“Is there not a single one among you who dares to duel me?” Ye Fan looked towards the Thirteen Saint Sons, a hint of mockery on his face.
Every Saint Son present paled. Since childhood, who had ever dared to speak to them like this, with such blatant disdain!
They were the favored sons of heaven in the Eastern Wasteland, always the focus of the world’s attention, commanding respect through their arrogance. When had they ever been so thoroughly looked down upon?
However, at this moment, not a single one stepped forward. Not one among them had the confidence to overpower Ye Fan; each had already tested him.
All thirteen Saint Sons were powerless against Ye Fan. Some were severely wounded because of him, and one even perished here. It was a clear warning, with blood as undeniable proof!
“Haha…” Ye Fan laughed heartily, exuding immense arrogance. His disheveled hair flew wildly, and his eyes flashed like lightning.
This spirited aura, this air of unrivaled supremacy, genuinely infuriated them. Yet, still, not a single one dared to challenge him head-on.
With the Sacred Body having matured to this extent, few in the younger generation of the Eastern Wasteland could now contend with him. This was their helpless despair.
Aside from a select few individuals like the Light Shaking Saint Son, the Eastern Wasteland Divine King, and Hua Yunfei, who else could possibly contend? They truly couldn’t conceive of anyone.
Self-crippling their cultivation? Go to hell, who would believe that!
“Since that’s the case, then come at me all at once! I’ll send every single one of you on your way!” Ye Fan looked down on the assembled heroes, utterly unconcerned, intending to slay them all.
Seeing him like this, everyone felt apprehensive. Not a single person dared to step forward, fearing he had a ‘killing pit,’ and remained hesitant.
“Haha…” Ye Fan laughed heartily, sweeping his gaze over the Thirteen Saint Sons, and glancing at the Supreme Elders and Half-Step Great Powers.
Such laughter was particularly grating. Everyone perceived it as a look of blatant disdain, and they were all incredibly furious that, despite being surrounded by so many, he still dared to act with such audacity!
“I’ll slay him!”
An elder from the Vanishing Beginning Sacred Land, at the Sixth Transformation of the Dragon Transformation realm, strode forward, pressing in. People of this cultivation level were known to have pursued Ye Fan before; it was common knowledge.
“Boom!”
He held a bronze pagoda aloft, bringing it down with the force of a mountain. Standing atop the pagoda, his aura was immense, causing the snow peak to crack and trigger a terrifying avalanche, resembling a tsunami.
“Clang!”
Ye Fan soared like a dragon, his vital essence boiling throughout his body. The 'All' character secret technique triggered, boosting his combat power tenfold, and he shattered the sky with a single punch!
“Boom!”
A deafening crash echoed. The bronze pagoda, a secret treasure, absorbed Ye Fan. Everyone was overjoyed.
However, before their smiles could fully blossom, they froze. The pagoda’s body began to crack, and the ancient pagoda, as massive as a mountain, shattered.
Especially at its apex, Ye Fan burst forth, tearing the person standing on the pagoda’s top into several pieces!
His golden fist, as if plunging into a pile of rotten mud, advanced unimpeded, striking the elder into several pieces, scattering bones and flesh.
A powerful cultivator at the Sixth Transformation of the Dragon Transformation realm, along with his magical treasure, was utterly defeated by Ye Fan with a single punch, without any suspense. This made everyone gasp in shock.
“Has he reached Great Perfection in the Four Extremes realm?”
Previously, Ye Fan was at the Second Layer of the Four Extremes realm, capable of fighting cultivators at the Fourth Transformation of the Dragon Transformation. Inferring from this, everyone knew he must have advanced again.
“No, he’s at the Third Layer of the Four Extremes realm; he hasn’t reached Great Perfection yet!” Someone discerned the truth.
“But why do I feel he has already reached Great Perfection?” Someone held a differing opinion.
They weren’t afraid of Ye Fan’s current combat prowess, but rather astonished by his cultivation speed. It was simply too fast; in less than a year, could he possibly have advanced two layers?
“If you’re not convinced, then come at me, all of you! I’ll slay every last one!” Ye Fan’s confidence and arrogance infuriated everyone. A Half-Step Great Power stepped forward, intent on destroying him.
“Clang!”
Above Ye Fan’s head, an ancient cauldron appeared, emitting a resonant tremor, like the tolling of evening drums and morning bells, shaking people’s souls. Myriad strands of Mother Qi cascaded down, enveloping him in an impenetrable defense.
At this moment, everyone’s eyes burned with intense fervor, fixed on the Origin Root of Myriad Mother Qi. This was a sacred artifact left by an ancient Heavenly Emperor!
“You have a death wish!” The Half-Step Great Power sneered, a hint of mockery in his voice, extending a massive hand forward, attempting to seize the cauldron directly.
“Ah!”
Suddenly, his massive hand gushed with blood, flesh and bone a blurry mess, as if it had been crushed by a colossal mountain. His finger bones were shattered.
“You… what’s in that cauldron?!” The Half-Step Great Power was horrified, stumbling backward. A chill ran down his spine; he felt as though a savage phoenix lay dormant within, capable of incinerating all creation.
Naturally, it was the Archaic Saint. Even sealed within the divine source, when Ye Fan approached, he felt his own body might rupture, let alone that of others. Reaching into the cauldron would certainly result in self-inflicted harm.
Several Half-Step Great Powers all pressed forward, intending to jointly confront Ye Fan and eliminate him.
“Awooo…”
On the other side, the big black dog shrieked as the black wooden box was knocked from its paw. It chomped on some snow, nearly tumbling into the snowy valley, while Liu Yiyi slipped from its back onto the ground.
“Swish!”
The Vanishing Beginning Saintess rushed over, grabbed Yiyi, and let out a cold, merciless, and cruel sneer.
“Ye Fan, immediately kneel before me and beg for mercy like a dog!” She had lost an arm, and although it could regrow in the future, at this moment she was nearly deranged.
“Make me kneel before you? You will never experience that in this lifetime,” Ye Fan scoffed coldly.
“If you don’t kneel, I’ll make you watch her die right now!” The Vanishing Beginning Saintess’s eyes gleamed with cold malice.
A bloodline appeared on Liu Yiyi’s delicate neck. A silver knife lay across it, and a streak of bright red blood welled up. Her face held a desolate expression, and time seemed to freeze.
Ye Fan’s heart nearly stopped beating. He was incredibly furious, his knuckles turning blue from clenching, and his black hair, a dense mane, trembled without a breeze.
“Kneel down in public and beg me…” The Vanishing Beginning Saintess sneered, a relentless chill in her voice.
“Ye Fan, go…” Liu Yiyi whispered.
Ye Fan calmly removed the cauldron from above his head, where it shrank to fist-size in his palm. He looked at everyone and declared, “Whoever is the first to slay that one and rescue Yiyi, I shall give them this cauldron.”
These individuals, whose identities were concealed as they had all arrived in disguise, were stirred by his words. Killing intent permeated the air. Who wouldn't be tempted by a sacred artifact of an ancient Heavenly Emperor?
“You…” The Vanishing Beginning Saintess was alarmed, pushing Liu Yiyi away. The big black dog surged forward and caught her once more.
“Such talk is useless now; there’s no need to discuss the cauldron’s ownership. Kill him first!” A Great Power declared, pressing closer. Everyone converged.
“Thud!”
Ye Fan threw the cauldron onto the ground, instantly causing a clamor among the onlookers. All those previously hidden in the shadows emerged, pressing forward, afraid of being left behind.
“Let’s see how you conjure a divine miracle!” A sinister voice rang out, filled with endless hatred.
“Slaying the Sacred Body is within our grasp!” everyone shouted in unison, killing intent permeating the mountain range.
“Everyone, let’s ascend together, and I’ll send you all on your way!” Ye Fan laughed loudly.
He naturally held a trump card; otherwise, he would never have come here to his death, nor would he sacrifice his life in vain.
However, he wasn’t relying solely on the Archaic Saint. That was a double-edged sword; once unleashed, it would prove fatal even to himself!
“Boom!” A massive sea of thunder, thousands of yards wide, descended from the sky, instantly engulfing the area. This was an ocean of heavenly tribulation!
“Damn it, kid, you forgot about me! You included me in this entire scheme, you rotten scoundrel!” The big black dog shrieked, desperately protecting Yiyi.
Ye Fan had been in seclusion, not for a breakthrough, but to reach a critical point. He had been suppressing it, only releasing it by coming here today, to undergo his tribulation in this very place!
