Chapter 1587: Fallen

The entire universe plunged into darkness as the Lord of Samsara, the Sovereign of Light and Darkness, the Stone Emperor of Undying Mountain, the Master of God Ruins, and the Heavenly Despiser Sovereign emerged simultaneously, wreaking havoc and bathing the universe in blood.

In addition, a Great Accomplished Hegemon also emerged. Equally terrifying, he could challenge ancient sovereigns. His true combat power was naturally unparalleled; with a mere raise of his hand, he could wipe out all life on an ancient planet, their blood splattering across the heavens.

This was an unprecedented catastrophe. The six great sovereigns roamed, sweeping through all heavens and myriad realms, utterly without rivals.

This calamity, heralded as the most terrifying in history, engulfed the entire universe. No ancient land could escape it, as these sovereigns had once ruled the cosmos, their footsteps spanning all corners. There was no coordinate unknown to them.

Unprecedented, all living beings across the world wailed in despair!

Not a single person could stop them, not even for half a step. The universe trembled, and myriad beings wept.

"There is no hope left; from now on, only darkness. A new epoch has begun, and light will never be seen again…" an old Great Sage lamented as he fled into the cosmic frontier.

Alas, he could not escape death. When a sovereign struck, there was no resistance in the world. From across a vast expanse of stars, the Master of God Ruins pointed a finger from afar. He and dozens of other sages who had fled there instantly exploded into smithereens, transforming into a bloody mist as their vast life essence was completely devoured.

It was the same everywhere; there was no escaping. People saw not a shred of hope.

"Boom!"

In another star system, a glowing quasi-emperor, clutching a war spear, fled, tearing through the void to escape to a distant domain.

Alas, it was still futile!

He had hidden in the most desolate star system, a vast and boundless dead zone devoid of any life aura, but he was still detected by the passing Great Accomplished Hegemon.

The Great Accomplished Hegemon took a single step, crossing the boundless universe and following directly. Such a great catch would naturally not be let go, as it was the most effective replenishment for him.

The more powerful a person, the more life essence they contained!

"Puff!"

The Great Accomplished Hegemon struck down with a single palm, and everything ended. This powerful being, who had just been promoted to quasi-emperor, aspired to the imperial path, once appeared in the Beidou star system, and stood before the great rift to the immortal path, met his end. Even his weapon was shattered into pieces, turning into bloody mud.

The old Hegemon inhaled the massive amount of life essence in one gulp!

"People insult me, curse me," he declared. "If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I wish everyone in the world were Great Accomplished Hegemons, just like me!"

He spoke coldly, his expression indescribably cruel. His tall frame, like a black mountain, made people suffocate. He took a step, moving to bathe the next ancient planet in blood.

The entire universe lost its dawn, and people were almost completely desperate. Who could possibly change the tragic fate of myriad beings?

Perhaps the only hope was the Great Accomplished Holy Body. He was desperately fighting the Celestial Venerable of Longevity, his Six Paths Samsara Fist shaking heaven and earth, shattering the sky and splitting the universe. Yet, he himself was also nearing a state of decay.

The Celestial Venerable of Longevity countered, his condition very poor. At this moment, his "Zhe" character secret technique was finally about to fail. His body had been fractured multiple times by that peerlessly powerful fist, and his life energy was severely depleted, with little left.

But what did that matter?

Even if the Great Accomplished Holy Body won, there were still six ancient sovereigns behind him. How much could one person do? The outcome was already sealed: he was destined to splatter the universe with his blood and meet a tragic end.

The Stone Emperor, the Heavenly Despiser Sovereign, the Lord of Samsara, and the others were all indifferent. They had no intention of joining the fray, simply awaiting the outcome.

They came from different forbidden zones of life. They had no obligation to help, nor did they want to expend their imperial blood. What was most crucial now was to replenish themselves to their optimal state and recover.

Although a tragedy seemed imminent, the ancient sages in the universe still prayed, hoping the Great Accomplished Holy Body would win and turn the tide, performing a series of miracles.

The Holy Body's unique phenomena converged, and although they severely wounded the Celestial Venerable of Longevity, almost tearing him apart, he was still incredibly difficult to vanquish!

This ancient sovereign was too powerful. He had suffered such severe injuries on the path to immortality and had been struck by the Green Bronze Cauldron, yet he did not die. Just as his title suggested, he embodied longevity!

Finally, the Great Accomplished Holy Body roared, his golden hair bristling, unleashing all his unique secret techniques. He inflicted severe damage on the Celestial Venerable of Longevity, almost tearing him into pieces.

However, the opponent's Longevity Sword also nearly split him in half vertically, and his primordial spirit almost suffered a catastrophe.

This was the most tragic and bloody battle. The two had fought so long that it was impossible to tell how many brilliant galaxies they had destroyed or how many moves they had exchanged. They remained locked in a stalemate, with no clear outcome.

However, it was clear that both the Celestial Venerable of Longevity and the Great Accomplished Holy Body were at the end of their lives, utterly exhausted.

The Celestial Venerable of Longevity was too ancient. Even though he had devoured vast numbers of living beings and sealed himself with immortal sources, primordial life stones, and other treasures, hiding in the Immortal Tomb, living until now meant he was also nearing decay.

As for the Great Accomplished Holy Body, just as he had said, if not for the woman in white, he would have already passed away. His condition was very poor, and these were his last twilight years.

"Boom!"

The Master of the Immortal Tomb went all out, aiming to restore himself to an Human Emperor, undergoing ultimate sublimation to transform into the invincible Celestial Venerable of the mythical era for the final extermination.

Because if this continued, he might perish with the Great Accomplished Holy Body, or even die first. At this most critical moment, even his "Zhe" character secret technique could not hold out.

Having fought until now, his blood energy had been depleted by the Great Accomplished Holy Body's attacks, and his life energy had decreased too much. He could clearly feel that the "Zhe" character secret technique would soon become useless.

However, the outcome was cruel: he failed. He could not undergo ultimate sublimation. His physical condition was too dire; he couldn't even make a desperate gamble for a slim chance of survival!

He had anticipated this outcome, but its actual occurrence made his pupils contract sharply. This was an extremely critical sign: the Celestial Venerable of Longevity, who had lived for eons, might finally perish today!

Outsiders were unaware of this battle, which was truly a fight to the death. The Great Accomplished Holy Body battled against a former Great Emperor-level figure, causing galaxies to lose their luster and grow dim.

Let alone recent ancient times, even looking at the desolate, primordial, and mythical eras, few such tragic battle examples could be found. Holy Body blood and Imperial blood splattered, boundless in their terror.

The Great Accomplished Holy Body challenged the Celestial Venerable, fighting to the death until this point. Although neither was in their prime, peak state of strength, this was still intense enough.

Apart from ancient sovereigns, no one could clearly perceive their battle or comprehend the profound mysteries of their laws. Anyone swept by their power fluctuations would surely cease to exist in this world.

Finally, it ended.

The Celestial Venerable of Longevity pierced the Great Accomplished Holy Body's head with a sword. The immortal sword trembled, dripping crystal-clear and vivid red blood, an exceptionally tragic and beautiful sight.

The Great Accomplished Holy Body's eyes dimmed. He had fought his entire life, guarding the peace of the human race and earning the title of Human Holy Body. Today, he was finally destined to fall.

His life had reached its end. His primordial spirit was pierced by an imperial artifact, ensuring his death, beyond any hope of recovery. If it were anyone else, they would have long turned into cosmic dust, yet he remained standing, unyielding.

The Celestial Venerable of Longevity also let out a bitter laugh. He too was certainly doomed to die, with no shred of hope for life. The Great Accomplished Holy Body's peerless fist had directly slammed into his frontal bone and had not yet been withdrawn, leaving a bloody hole.

The moment his Longevity Sword pierced through his opponent's head, the opponent's fist also collapsed his Immortal Platform, shattering his primordial spirit, ultimately sending him to his doom.

In this life, this existence, he had experienced too much. He had lived for too long, enduring countless eras until now, and now, it was finally coming to an end.

Once the Supreme Celestial Venerable of the mythical era, he had founded the renowned "Zhe" character secret technique, acclaimed as unparalleled through the ages in this domain. He was the first in history, unmatched by anyone.

Yet, even so, he could not use this secret to save himself.

Looking back at past years, his glorious days were gone forever. In the mythical era, after attaining the Dao, he became the most powerful being, ruling the universe. He was once revered by myriad beings and had protected them.

Later, he succumbed to the ravages of time and chose to sever a part of himself. He then lay dormant in a forbidden zone, hidden within the Immortal Tomb, never emerging.

Until Emperor Zun appeared. That person was at the absolute peak of power. He invited him out of seclusion, extending his peak imperial life by two thousand years and having him take over the Underworld, thus beginning another legend.

But he also desired to become an immortal!

As a Supreme Celestial Venerable, how could he be content to become a stepping stone on another's path to immortality? Naturally, he had to make a bid, and thus, later came the catastrophe where blood filled the heavens.

After two millennia of peak imperial life concluded, he returned to the Immortal Tomb and lay dormant.

In later generations, he initiated several disturbances until the path to immortality opened, but the final outcome was this.

"I am finally going to die," he mused. "Having lived until now, I am somewhat weary. Just one thing: I want to know if I am the longest-living being in this world?"

The Celestial Venerable of Longevity muttered to himself, wondering if, without immortals, anyone had lived longer than him. As of now, it seemed not!

He spanned the mythical era, transcended the primordial era, experienced the desolate era, and reached this current age. Who could believe such a claim? It was truly defying heaven!

"I shall go first. I do not wish to be buried in the same galaxy as you," the Celestial Venerable of Longevity declared. With these words, his head exploded, transforming into a dazzling rain of light that vanished into the depths of the dark universe.

His Longevity Sword let out a wail, then, with a clang, it withdrew itself, following him and disappearing among the galaxies.

The Great Accomplished Holy Body was covered in blood. His entire body's golden fur fell off and burned away, finally revealing his true appearance with black hair falling over his shoulders. Although his eyes were dim, they could not conceal his peerless heroic demeanor.

His sword-like eyebrows swept up to his temples. His face was as chiseled as if by a knife, incredibly resolute. His physique was robust, possessing an aura that could swallow mountains and rivers, majestic and grand!

His entire life had been spent in battle. This was not the first time he faced dark turmoil; he had once fought a bloody battle throughout an entire era. Now, having reappeared in the world, he fought until death, spilling his last drop of blood.

"The mythical era had dark turmoil, the primordial era had it, the desolate era had it; it never ceased, and now I have reached the end of my life," he murmured. "The world calls me the Human Holy Body, a title I feel unworthy of. In this life, I could not quell the turmoil; I could only watch and listen to the wails of all beings, but I am utterly exhausted."

The Great Accomplished Holy Body gazed out at the universe, seeing ancient lands withered everywhere. He was no longer able to fight or pacify the dark turmoil, and so, he collapsed into a pool of blood.

He would undergo Dao transformation here, taking one last look at the ancient star system he had once protected!

"This is the end, how tragic," a voice said.

In the distance, a majestic figure approached, incredibly tall, like a black demonic mountain. Its oppressive presence made people feel as if they would suffocate and collapse.

The Great Accomplished Hegemon had arrived. His face was etched with cruelty as he stood before the fallen Holy Body, looking down at him in the pool of blood.

"Your hands are stained with blood! I hear the wails of countless souls, emanating from your Immortal Platform!" the Great Accomplished Holy Body declared, his eyes shining with immense brilliance in his final moments as he fixed them on the Hegemon before him.

"Did I have a choice? There was only this path!" the Great Accomplished Hegemon responded coldly, then lowered his head to look down at him.

"Devour my holy blood, and stop the slaughter," the Great Accomplished Holy Body said.

"Hahahaha…" The Great Accomplished Hegemon burst into laughter, then suddenly stopped, finally stating coldly, "You have seen through my true nature, knowing that I have no turning back. Do you wish to lure me in, to eliminate me through this?"

The Great Accomplished Holy Body's eyes widened in fury, saying, "You must know what you have done today! There will certainly be someone to settle accounts with you someday!"

After that, he began to transform into the Dao, becoming a vast shower of light, absolutely refusing to leave a single drop of his essence blood for the Hegemon.

The Great Accomplished Hegemon did not stop him, his expression indifferent as he said, "This is how human hearts are. If everyone in the world were Great Accomplished Hegemons, when it's their turn, they would all be like me!"

At this point, he became even colder, saying, "The Solar Holy Emperor shed his last drop of blood for the world, and the world preserved his last bloodline. This kind of ending, you should already know, is the reality. And you, Great Accomplished Holy Body, should not exist in this world at all. People like you do not live long; that is the reality!"

"What if I suffer eternal infamy?" the Great Accomplished Hegemon said grimly. "I will still live forever, eternally immortal! Ultimately, I stand upon your corpse; you fall at my feet. What is truth? The bloody truth is the only truth!"

Today, he slaughtered myriad beings, bathing ancient planet after ancient planet in blood. His blood had grown cold, his heart hardened, overwhelmed and consumed by ruthlessness.

"You are a hero, so you must die. There are no living heroes in this world," he screamed hysterically. "As for me, I will live forever, and I will continue to live. What does it matter if I carry infamy?!"

"Boom!"

The Great Accomplished Holy Body transformed into a shower of light, rushing into the distance, flying over ancient lands one after another. These were places he had once fought, places he had once protected—places where the bones of his enemies lay, where the remains of his comrades rested, and where he had sorrowfully buried his beloved in ancient tombs.
