Chapter 1546: Black Emperor

Not only was Ye Fan dumbfounded, but so were Ji Zi and the Holy Prince; they were all somewhat stunned. The Black Emperor’s “major blunder” was truly astonishing, leaving them speechless.

This unreliable dog had managed to lose itself in the depths of the universe. They had thought it would be years, perhaps never, before they saw it again, yet here it was.

It was trapped in a Quasi-Emperor formation, where another powerful dao principle surged, its might even greater, its killing intent sweeping through eternity!

This was no longer just a small part of the Matchless Killing Formation; it clearly involved one or two more segments than before. This was truly a miracle!

Legend had it that no one besides ancient Great Emperors could fully comprehend its true meaning or set it up. Even a single segment was believed to be the limit, with the barrier to surpassing it being incredibly difficult to cross.

The Black Emperor had been immersed in this path for years, often losing the people around it, and eventually even itself. It had finally achieved a breakthrough.

It was precisely because it had set up more than two segments of the Matchless Killing Formation, shattering the preceding formation patterns and blocking the killing intent, that it had avoided demise.

“Woof, you damn long worm! Woof, motherf***er!” The Black Emperor, trapped within the formation, cursed incessantly, filled with indignation.

While a Quasi-Emperor killing formation could not compare to an Emperor formation, it was relatively complete and could unleash immense power.

However, the Matchless Emperor Formation only had two segments. This didn't mean it could unleash only twenty percent of its power; each additional segment multiplied its power, sometimes even several times over. Thus, it was hard to say precisely how much power two segments possessed.

“How did it get trapped here? It seems the Old Teng Snake isn’t around, otherwise it would have already attacked with its Quasi-Emperor Weapon,” said the Holy Prince, who knew the ruthless Teng Snake best.

“Black Emperor!” Ye Fan roared, his voice like rolling waves entering the formation. The mountains trembled, and a group of golden Teng Snakes appeared, observing from a distance.

The ape was furious. These snakes were controlling the formation patterns. Standing outside the array, he slapped out, causing the strong snakes to scream in agony, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.

Of course, more Teng Snakes were hidden within the formation, making them unreachable.

Inside the grand formation, the Black Emperor’s curses ceased. It stood motionless, its large ears perked up, looking suspiciously outside the array. Unfortunately, it couldn’t see through the dense, heavy mist.

“Black Emperor, have you been slaughtered?” Ye Fan shouted.

“You damn long worm, you know a lot! You’re actually pretending to be that cursed brat to trick me! Your Grandpa Black won’t fall for it!” The Black Emperor cursed indignantly.

Ye Fan had a headache. Meeting it here, he wanted to rescue it but was first cursed. He immediately shouted, “It’s me, not some Teng Snake! Black Emperor, I’ve brought you an old companion, a noble-blooded wolfhound!”

There was silence for a long time before a thunderous roar erupted: “Damn it, it really is you, you scoundrel! Hurry and get me out!”

“Don’t you have an Emperor formation? Just blast it a few more times, and you’ll be out,” Ye Fan said.

“No time! That damned old snake is coming back! Hurry and act!” The Black Emperor anxiously shouted.

Hearing this, Ye Fan, Ji Zi, and the Holy Prince dared not delay. In the Old Teng Snake’s domain, even a slight oversight could lead to trouble. Rescuing the Black Dog first was safer.

The formation patterns in this area had already been cracked and flawed by the Black Emperor’s assault. With the added bombardment of three Emperor Weapons, they rapidly disintegrated, utterly unable to withstand such world-shattering divine might.

A large dog, as sturdy as a bull, with glossy black fur like silk, a square head, large ears, and bell-like eyes, was of excellent breed.

It bared its teeth, its eyes nearly popping out when it saw the three of them. Especially when it stared at the killing sword in Ye Fan’s hand, it almost drooled.

“This Emperor truly missed you all!”

It transformed into a black whirlwind and pounced, a veritable vicious dog attack, heading straight for Ye Fan, calling it “reunion of old friends, overjoyed.”

In fact, its nature remained unchanged; it was aiming for the killing sword. Once its large paws wrapped around it, it wouldn’t let go, shamelessly insisting, “Let me see it!”

Ye Fan naturally refused. Letting it see it would be like throwing a meat bun to a dog—it would be gone forever.

“Just one look!” The Black Emperor persisted, clutching the killing sword with its paws, its square head and big ears displaying a simple, honest look.

It knew its limitations. Both the Void Mirror and the Battle Saint Emperor’s Immortal Iron Rod were inherited artifacts; even if they were put into its paws, it couldn’t control them.

But this Emperor Weapon was different; it clearly had no relation to Ye Fan, who had seized it.

“We just met, and you don’t even ask about our experiences over the years; you immediately try to rob me. Has your conscience been eaten by a dog?” Ye Fan struggled to pry its large paws off.

“Damn it, what are you saying?” The Black Emperor retorted indignantly, “Is this Emperor that kind of person? Absolutely not. Would this Emperor do such a thing? Absolutely impossible. I already heard of your fame on the ancient road, why would I need to ask?”

*Chomp!* It opened its large mouth and bit down on Ye Fan’s palm, refusing to let go, insisting, “Just for a bit!”

Rivers and mountains may change, but nature remains the same.

Ye Fan had become a Great Saint, and his flesh and blood were now rarely matched in the universe, so he naturally wasn’t injured by the bite. However, he showed a strange look: the Black Dog hadn’t been harmed by the Emperor Weapon and could actually hold the killing sword without damage. He had spent many years nurturing this sword just to be able to wield it.

In that moment of distraction, the killing sword was gnawed and pulled into the Black Dog’s large paws. Its mouth stretched to its ears as it laughed incessantly.

“How can you withstand the killing intent of an Immortal Sword?”

“I’ve been refining killing formations for one or two hundred years; I’m almost fused with the origin of killing intent in heaven and earth. This sword is naturally destined for me,” it said boastfully.

Clearly, it was spouting nonsense. It definitely had something on its body that could pacify killing intent.

“Enough talk! Let’s go outside the domain to intercept the old snake! Damn him for trapping this Emperor! I’ll skin him and dig out his bones!” The Black Emperor fumed, unsure if it was changing the subject or genuinely enraged.

“How did you get here?” Ye Fan asked.

“Don’t ask! Just get out quickly! I really want to kill that old snake; he ruined a huge opportunity for me!” The Black Emperor became agitated.

“What exactly happened?” The Holy Prince also asked.

The Black Dog sighed, “I was traveling in the universe and discovered a mass of Emperor Origin left behind after an ancient Great Emperor’s demise. It was almost in my grasp, but damn it, it flew away again!”

It finally revealed the truth: it had spotted a mass of Great Emperor origin, illuminating the cosmic wilderness. It was so excited it nearly fainted. It carefully approached and had just absorbed a small piece when the celestial treasure flew away.

The trio was shocked. What an incredible stroke of fortune that must have been?!

The corpses of ancient Great Emperors were rarely seen throughout eternity, let alone anything they left behind after their demise. Practically no one in ancient times had ever obtained such items. Emperor corpses would often transform into dao or cosmic dust. Anything that remained had to be heaven-defying.

Emperor Origin—it truly shouldn’t exist in the world, yet a portion of it lingered in the cosmic wilderness, which was indeed shocking enough to make one dumbfounded.

Instantly, they understood why the Black Emperor was fearless of the killing sword: a small piece of Emperor Origin was fused into its large paws, naturally allowing it to block the killing intent.

“I used almost every ounce of my strength chasing it, only to crash onto this planet and be trapped by that old snake! He chased it further for me!” The Black Emperor furiously pounded the ground, seething with hatred.

“Are you done venting? Give me the killing sword,” Ye Fan extended his hand.

“What kind of relationship do we have? We’ve faced life and death together, a bond sealed with blood! These are just external possessions; yours is mine!” The Black Dog declared self-righteously.

“Then give me a piece of the Great Emperor origin,” Ye Fan extended his hand.

“There’s only one piece! It’s already stuck to my divine paw, probably won’t separate in this lifetime,” its face was as thick as a city wall.

Afterwards, it confidently rushed towards a distant large mountain, a crucial area for the Teng Snake lineage, where some sacred objects were displayed. The Black Dog fixated on a golden snake skin that wound around the mountain, radiating brilliant golden light.

This was definitely a rare divine material, the discarded skin of the Old Teng Snake, tough and imperishable.

Without a word, the Black Emperor carefully cut it with the killing sword and quickly refined it into a pair of large golden snake-skin shorts. In a few swift motions, it put them on, replacing its old floral shorts. Standing upright with its hands behind its back, it declared, “Not bad, a small revenge first.”

Ye Fan almost uttered a phrase he had nearly forgotten for two hundred years.

Even the usually quiet Ji Zi was momentarily stunned. If this was considered “small revenge,” the Old Teng Snake would surely be infuriated to death if it saw someone wearing its skin as shorts. What kind of person would do that? It was too malicious.

The Holy Prince was speechless, but this act did give him some satisfaction.

“One shouldn’t be too much like Duan De, and a dog shouldn’t be too much like the Black Emperor!” Ye Fan said.

The Black Dog, wearing golden shorts and standing upright, paced back and forth, one large paw clutching the killing sword. It said, “Stop talking about all this. Hurry and ambush the old snake outside the domain. When he returns, we’ll break his bones and tear his sinews!”

Everyone nodded. This was a grave matter. If the Old Teng Snake obtained the remaining Emperor Origin and refined it, it might truly break through to the Quasi-Emperor realm. That would be a great disaster!

On this planet, although there were many Teng Snake masters, none dared to stop them. They were simply no match. With so many Emperor Weapons in hand, a single strike could shatter this planet!

They went straight to the outer domain, waiting for the Old Teng Snake to return, intending to destroy it completely.

“Oh, right, Little Ye, where have you been all these years? Why has there been no news? And Ji Zi, Holy Prince, why haven’t you two shown your faces? This Emperor even wanted to find you.”

All three wanted to punch it and collectively scorned the dead dog.

“You despicable, shameless, insatiably greedy dead dog! Didn’t you just say you already heard of our fame on the ancient road, and that’s why you didn’t ask when we met? In the end, you’re still eyeing treasures!”

“The old snake is back! Stop talking nonsense; hurry and slaughter that big one!” The Black Emperor’s spirits lifted, then it gritted its teeth. Standing upright, it clutched the killing sword and hid itself.

Ye Fan took out the Green Copper Cauldron. Ji Zi and the Holy Prince also prepared themselves to absolutely kill the Old Teng Snake.
