Chapter 53: I, Level 4 Slime Wizard

Three years ago, they picked up a strange green slime. It could talk? And it even claimed it wanted to rescue them, the traditional witches, and its own slime race from the clutches of evil witches?

They stared blankly for a few seconds, utterly bewildered, their faces showing an adorable confusion. These cute young witches, who had secretly formed a society to resist evil witches, seemed to have grand ambitions of fighting tyranny. But in reality, they hadn't seen much of the world. This was their first encounter with an intelligent being that wasn't human.

Merrielle's mouth formed a cute 'O' shape as she exclaimed, "Oh my! Could you be the legendary, formless and bodiless God of Wisdom, Hermes Trismegistus?"

The young witches grew excited. According to legend, Mercury, the celestial God of Wisdom, could appear in any living form to communicate with people on earth.

Elizabeth, the dignified and mature leader of the group, quickly knelt respectfully and said, "Great God of Wisdom, Mercury, have you descended from the heavens to save humble humanity?"

Li Shengjiang smiled, just about to nod and confirm he was the God of Wisdom, thinking it would be good to pretend to be a god. But then, Elizabeth suddenly pondered for a moment and shook her head, saying, "Impossible! How could the great God of Wisdom almost be humiliated by those witches, and then have to feign death to escape and be brought back by us?"

Li Shengjiang was immediately mortified. This wasn't how things usually went! When others arrived in a new world, they always pretended to be gods... Why was he immediately taken captive, had his slime race abused by witches, reduced to such a miserable state, and then instantly exposed when he tried to act like a god? He was indignant!

He could only twitch his lips and honestly say, "I really can help you."

Elizabeth, however, shook her head with a wry smile, gently picked it up, and stroked it like a small pet. "You're just a tiny slime; you haven't seen much of the world. You have no idea how terrifying Medusa, revered by all as 'the Sovereign Emperor who wields supreme power and death,' truly is. Over the years, she has surpassed the power of the Three Witches. And you say you want to defeat her?"

"Yes, it's me! I will defeat Sovereign Emperor Medusa!" Li Shengjiang, the middle-aged man, said confidently. "You don't know how terrifying the potential of our slime race is. I will lead my slime race to escape the oppression of the Rose Witch Kingdom!"

"So cute, you little darling."

"And you look so handsome when you boast, with that little cowlick bouncing on your head."

The young witches giggled, looking at the adorable, round little creature, laughing heartily and looking utterly charming.

Merrielle also laughed, picking up the slime's soft, squishy, round body and kneading it in her arms, flattening and rounding it. "Your race is too weak. You just hop around and can't even beat the lowest-level creatures. Your only use is for witches to cultivate. Do you really have potential?"

Over the past three years, some had indeed tried to integrate slime blood into themselves. After a near-death experience, a few succeeded, growing a small cowlick on their heads. While the cowlick was tiny, and their strength became astonishing, they were otherwise utterly useless. Slimes as a species were simply too weak!

"You don't understand. My structure is very powerful, especially this tentacle of mine. It's the source of slime power! It's our guarantee of survival," Li Shengjiang, seeing the girls' teasing laughter, quickly retorted, "It's the essence of this race."

"Oh, yes, we know your structure is very powerful, especially this tentacle of the slime. It's the source of your power and your guarantee of survival," Merrielle's face suddenly flushed. "It's also your essence!"

Li Shengjiang: "..."

Li Shengjiang was utterly unable to explain himself and felt a headache coming on! He hadn't created this special physique to be *that kind* of creature!

His current plan was to acquire "Evil Eye Blood" and gain the mental genes of an Evil Eye. As a slime, he could then cultivate to become a wizard and embark on the cultivation path of this world. After all, he wasn't just seeking to become stronger; he only had a lifespan of a little over ten years. Now, after more than three years spent learning the language and adapting to the environment, he didn't have much life left to waste. If he couldn't cultivate and acquire a second gene, he would soon die.

"What? Slimes need to cultivate too?" The group of witches exchanged bewildered glances, finding it hard to believe.

Elizabeth suddenly whispered, "Alright, Merrielle, how much money do we have left in our society's little treasury?"

Merrielle immediately panicked and shrieked, "No, sister! The money we sisters have painstakingly saved in the society over the years is for you to break through to a Tier 3 Witch!"

Elizabeth, however, shook her head. "Although my cultivation aptitude is the strongest among us, it's still too weak. Perhaps I'll only ever reach Tier 3 Witch at most. It would be better to let the slime cultivate. It's also shared property of our 'Elizabeth Witch Society,' a public pet..."

The surrounding sisters looked at the cute slime, exchanging glances. Merrielle was silent for a moment. "Our society still has 3521 Rose Coins."

Elizabeth thought for a moment and immediately said, "Buy a portion of 'Evil Eye Blood' for 300 Rose Coins, a 'Compatible Witch Potion' for 800 Rose Coins, a 'Compatible Blood Potion' for 1300 Rose Coins, and a 'Stabilizing Blood Potion' for 1400 Rose Coins. We'll have to find a way to gather more money..."

"That's too much! We can't afford that." Excitement suddenly stirred around them.

These potions were all developed by the witches of the Three Witches era and later generations to increase the success rate of integrating "Evil Eye Blood." Without them, the golden age of witches wouldn't have arrived. Yet, none of them received such treatment when they became witches. They only had the lowest-grade witch compatibility potion and had to risk their lives to succeed.

Elizabeth shook her head. "If we're going to do it, we have to do it best. We'll buy all sorts of potions to increase the odds. After all, the death rate for integrating Evil Eye Blood is too high. It's somewhat easier for women, but for men, the chances are more than ten times lower. As for slimes, it has never been done before, so the probability is likely even lower than for men. We can only try our best..."

"But if the slime dies, then all our savings from these past years will be..." Merrielle and a group of sisters whispered, discussing amongst themselves.

Li Shengjiang watched their discussion, feeling secretly anxious. He was confident in his ability to make a comeback; he had his trump card race—slimes, the slime engine. But whether he would get early opportunities to rise in this new world was another matter.

He quickly said, "It's fine, you must believe me. I am the King of Slimes. In the future, I am destined to become the strongest being in the world, the next Witch Sovereign Emperor."

"Yes, the King of Slimes."

Elizabeth slowly picked up the slime and smiled gently. "You're definitely going to become a Sovereign Emperor and reign over the entire wizarding world someday. What should we call you then? Let me think... You're so cute, so we'll call you 'Moe King' from now on."

Li Shengjiang was silent for a moment. Their words indicated they still didn't believe him. However, he would prove everything. He had been here for over three years and had fully integrated into this otherworldly life, feeling a deep bond with these kind and adorable young witches as their pet.

Over ten days later, Li Shengjiang endured unprecedented pain, successfully overcoming the "Evil Eye Blood," acquiring a second gene, and gaining the aptitude for witch cultivation. In just one month, he advanced past Junior Apprentice Witch to become a Tier 1 Witch.

"A Tier 1 Witch, in just one month!"

"So strong!"

The witches were ecstatic.

From that moment on, within the Witch Society, these adorable, naive young witches no longer treated their secret gathering place as merely a spot for tea and chats. Remembering their original purpose, they began to work hard, dedicating all their energy to accumulating resources for Li Shengjiang. The seven of them worked furiously outside, forming a team to battle gigantic beasts in the colossal forest and nurture the slime! They used no cultivation resources for themselves, dedicating everything to Li Shengjiang.

Li Shengjiang usually shared laughter with them, and he kept their kindness in his heart. He clearly understood the importance of developing discreetly—those protagonists in other worlds who died trying to cause trouble before fully developing were all idiots! What was wrong with relying on others' support? He was happy to be supported! As an old hand who had mingled in the business world, he was utterly shameless.

However, the difficulty of advancing each wizard tier increased geometrically. One year later, Li Shengjiang reached Tier 2 Witch; seven years later, he reached Tier 3 Witch. By the twentieth year, Li Shengjiang reached the realm of Tier 4 Witch. Tier 4 was already considered a top-tier realm in the wizarding world! After all, some great witches who served as suppressive forces in the Rose Church nations were only Tier 5 Witches, even though a single Tier 5 Witch could slaughter a vast number of Tier 4 Witches like him. But he was different. As a Tier 4 Slime Wizard, his mechanical technology was fully maxed out, giving him the capability to fight above his rank and challenge Tier 5 Witches!
