Chapter 407: Transformation

At this moment, Xia Niming watched the scene, unsure how to comfort Du Xue after hearing the news of the President's death. Still, he forced himself to speak: "There's no time for grief. The President delayed until this moment, and every second, every minute, cost her an unimaginable price."

Du Xue was silent for a moment, then surprisingly nodded, accepting the authority. Her eyes flashed with hatred as she quickly ran off, asking, "Kitty, what do we do next?"

Xia Niming was stunned.

The Ishdal people were truly ruthless.

They were extreme in their affections and hatreds. In desperate situations, they often refused to despair; instead, they would fight to the death, igniting a fierce spirit of resistance.

After inheriting the new dynamic key authority, Du Xue spoke, revealing her discovery, and was immediately somewhat disappointed:

"The dynamic key is a safe, and it's only half of the key."

Xia Niming had already guessed this.

The "key" merely granted an individual "supreme authority," allowing them to evade the law – which was already terrifying. However, a complete modification required both keys to be merged and a human council involving both keys to be held before revolutionary core mechanism reforms could be implemented.

Originally, he had planned to use the dynamic key to disable the "guilt-death authority" for everyone in the research institute, then pilot mechs together to eliminate their opponent. But clearly, this civilization had many restrictions, and it wasn't so easy to activate "full modification" brain permissions.

Du Xue said, "With a single key, we could still forcibly break through the authority, using it as a breakthrough point. But it would take a lot of time, probably several months, which isn't possible now. However, their target is precisely this key!"

"It's useless in our hands for now, but it's a hot potato."

Xia Niming took a deep breath, his balloon-like body expanding. "We're faster than him! We're not powerless to resist! He didn't succeed in his first strike, so he's already lost the initiative. We have a powerful advantage! As long as we get into the research institute, the scientists can help us!"

They quickly arrived directly at the central research institute and began to notify the research scientists inside.

The scientists were completely unaware of the situation outside. Their network had been hacked, effectively blocking outside communication, as the "presidential attack and assassination" had only occurred within the last half hour.

"The President... has she been martyred?"

When they heard the entire story, they were incredibly shocked. It wasn't until they saw Du Xue's dynamic key and the inherited authority that they realized it wasn't a lie.

"We've been trapped in here by him; we can't get out," the scientists warned. "Don't attack him! It will be fatal!"

"This is an emergency," they decided. "We'll destroy the mechanical computers first!"

A group of scientists sprang into action, destroying the old mechanical computers. Xia Niming breathed a sigh of relief; now, the only thing the opponent desired was the dynamic key in his hand.

He had originally wanted to destroy the dynamic key as well, but it wasn't something that could be destroyed quickly.

"We've now broken through his isolated network," the scientists announced. "Before, we never guarded against illegal intrusion, which is why he took advantage. But our multi-user online computation has forcibly broken through his single-user system!"

Swiftly, a group of scientists acted frantically, breaking through his defenses and allowing communication with the outside world.

"Lord Michaelqi is in the capital! He's already coming to support us!" the scientists announced. "We just need to resist the attack and prevent him from breaking in! Just fifteen minutes!"

Du Xue immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but her expression gradually stiffened. "Uncle Michaelqi has the guilt-death mechanism. Can he really stop him?"

In current human society, could anyone truly stop their opponent?

Boom! Boom!

A loud noise came from outside; the killer, already piloting his mech, was furiously attacking, breaking through the laboratory's hatch.

The opponent was more desperate than them, an almost insane attacker fighting to the death. He had ambushed and assassinated the President to seize the dynamic key and mechanical computers, relying on swift action. The longer it dragged on, the more disadvantaged he would become.

At this moment, the flaw in the "guilt-death mechanism" was completely exposed.

The entire research institute had no defensive mechanisms; its walls and doors were not made of special materials, offering no resistance in the event of a disaster.

"It's fine," someone said. "When it comes to running, we're professionals."

A short while later, the large door was breached, and the killer ignored the scientists.

"Milivina, an incredible miracle delayed me, but a second miracle can't happen immediately after," the killer snarled, utterly deranged. "You're fleeing. Where can you go? I only need three minutes!" His psychic energy swept through, searching for Du Xue and the dynamic key. Suddenly, his eyebrows twitched.

"Found you!"

He strode forward, smashing open a passage, and arrived at a vacuum mech. Du Xue lay quietly inside, visible through the cockpit window. "Are you playing ostrich?" he sneered. "The latest mech can protect you for a while, but do you think you'll be safe in it?"

He piloted another mech and furiously bombarded it, causing dents to appear one by one.

"Break!" he roared.

But gradually, he felt something was wrong. "She's piloting the latest model vacuum mech. Even without much piloting skill, she could at least escape and buy some more time. Why would she just stay still? Not moving at all?"

Was it a fake?

His expression hardened, and he immediately wanted to leave.

But the next second, he turned back, considering it might just be an empty-fort strategy.

After all, her aura was indeed inside, and the divine sense of a sixth-level quasi-emperor couldn't be so easily deceived, especially not by a simple girl.

"Real or fake?" His expression completely froze.

He continued bombarding, and after some time, he smashed the mech. He found the real Du Xue lying inside, in a state of hibernation, but her brain core had already vanished!

Inside, a message was written:

"Someone stole my brain, just as someone stole your heart!"

"Damn it!"

His smile gradually froze. This was a taunt, calling him heartless and unaffected by the guilt-death mechanism. "Ishdal people, a second miracle?"

In his mind, the words of that unyielding hero flashed:

"I believe she can create a miracle, just as she believes I can create one now!"

His face gradually stiffened, and he became profoundly uneasy.

"Damn it! Where did she go!?"

He frantically scanned the entire research institute, even underground. Then his eyebrows twitched, and he looked towards the sky—his blind spot.

"Idiot! This is a cicada shedding its shell, understand?"

Xia Niming, filled with hydrogen, had already floated out of the window and was flying in the sky. A magic core and a small silver box hung below his balloon-like form. "Du Xue's body has been frozen," he thought. "As long as it's not for too long, it can be reattached eventually. I'm just afraid he'll get angry and destroy her body!"

But in this situation, who could worry about so much?

At worst, they could replace the body and perform a brain transplant.

In the sky, a mech roared with rage, taking flight and creating a terrifying air current.

"I'm a balloon, he can't see me, he can't see me," Xia Niming thought, his scalp tingling.

But a voice full of rage came, its killing intent chilling:

"Damn you, balloon fish! I should have killed you back then! You've tormented me so much! If it weren't for you, I would have succeeded already. The supreme core authority of the Ishdal people would already be in my hands."

He twisted around, looking at a pair of angry eyes belonging to the killer.
