Chapter Six
Time was running out. Albert and his army were barely clinging to life in the mountains, likely nearing their end.
Xu Zhi immediately went to the experimental field and carefully selected the healthiest and most magnificent male Rubik's Cube Monkey.
"You're the one."
Medusa's Soul-Snatching Art instantly activated!
Xu Zhi's vast mental power began to pour into the Rubik's Cube Monkey's mind. However, as the mental energy surged in, Xu Zhi discovered something strange: after soul-snatching, the soul seemed to enter a small space.
"Normal creatures' souls are in their minds, but this species' souls are naturally in a small space within their bodies?" Xu Zhi raised an eyebrow. "Is this the racial characteristic of the Rubik's Cube Monkeys?"
Using this small space as their brain, to store consciousness and soul?
Then what was their actual brain for? To hold water?
Xu Zhi silently mused, what exactly was this consciousness space?
Sea of Consciousness? Spirit Platform?
Divine Repository? Dantian?
He was flooded with questions, having never noticed the Rubik's Cube Monkey's uniqueness before.
This creature was far stranger than ordinary insect-apes or humans; it was naturally endowed with the foundation of a transcendent being.
"Wait! If this creature's soul hides in a mental space, then it can likely store a lot of mental power, and it won't easily dissipate." Xu Zhi's interest was piqued, and he immediately poured a massive amount of mental energy into its "mind."
Xu Zhi, this colossal giant wizard, likely possessed tens of thousands of times the mental power of an ant-level wizard of the same realm.
Instantly, more than a dozen small portions of mental power surged in. Under the influx of immense mental energy, the small space gradually condensed into a semi-liquid, dense mist, becoming completely saturated.
Yet, Xu Zhi had only used a tiny fraction of his own mental power to fill its mind.
"This kind of life is simply the best vessel for soul possession! It's absolutely incredible." Xu Zhi chuckled. "Its mind can be fully charged with energy; though it'll be gone once used, this reserve should be enough to act like anti-aircraft artillery, firing a hundred small War Hammers of Qi without a problem."
Then, let the descent begin.
Xu Zhi pondered for a moment, then fashioned a small parachute from a red plastic bag. He then settled onto the sofa for a brief nap, his consciousness drifting, gradually settling into the body of the Rubik's Cube Monkey.
Whoosh!!
Suddenly, his small orchard pet flapped its wings and entered the room. The "Rubik's Cube Monkey" leaped firmly onto the bird's back, then flew out of the room, ascending into the vast sky, soaring over the entire land.
After a while.
"Land in this mountain range. I see Albert's human knights from here... Let's arrive in this strange Potion Era."
The strange bird stopped, slowly circling in the sky.
Whoosh!!
Xu Zhi took a light, graceful leap, rapidly plummeting towards the ground, the astonishing roar of the wind filling his ears.
After plummeting for a while, he slowly opened the parachute.
Whoosh!
The descent speed rapidly slowed.
He used his mental power to maintain the parachute's shape, then looked down upon the vast land engulfed by war.
"My coming here to resolve the crisis of the Human Kingdom of Vidichimia is secondary. My primary goal is to use the time difference here, in this Potion Era, to thoroughly familiarize myself with the Fourth-Tier Wizard power I've just acquired. But I shouldn't stay for too long."
In the sky, Xu Zhi looked up at the sunlight, slowly organizing his thoughts.
He had long intended to use the time difference within the sandbox to familiarize himself with the power of a Fourth-Tier Wizard. After all, his foundation was still weak, and with insufficient time, having power alone wasn't enough.
One must know that wizards are a group of people who pursue truth and knowledge. Yet, he lacked the fundamental knowledge to even be called a wizard, not even matching a First-Tier Wizard, knowing only one War Hammer of Qi.
Crack!
High in the sky, a translucent, light-red parachute slowly descended. Enveloped by mental power oscillations, the parachute emitted a hazy glow, appearing faintly red and eerie when seen against the sun.
"What is that!?" the tall and mighty knight, David, exclaimed.
Everyone froze. In the mountains, the entire remaining human army, their armor shattered and soaked in blood, looked up in stunned silence.
In the clear, cloudless azure sky, at some unknown moment, a giant translucent red mushroom-like parachute appeared. Beneath the canopy was a humanoid creature, covered in blackish-brown fur, shaggy and long-limbed, appearing somewhat gaunt. It resembled a never-before-seen type of beastman.
However, it bore a greater resemblance to the ancient humans from the era of ancient tribes, the time of the Gilgamesh myth, when their bodies were still covered in abundant hair.
"Humans from the super-ancient tribes!?"
Everyone stared blankly at the sky, at a loss.
"Be careful, it might be a completely new type of beastman!" Shirley muttered, leaning on a slender black magic sword, looking up.
The Beastman Kingdom had already unleashed many incredible abilities. Although it was unknown how long the besieged humans could hold out, this furry humanoid creature descending from the sky might be one of the beastmen's trump cards.
"Don't let it get close, kill it!" Shirley's expression hardened.
She was a Magic Swordsman. She quickly set down her magic sword, took the longbow from her back, nocked a black arrow, and slowly drew the string. A stream of light slowly gathered, and after carefully aiming, she shot it towards the sky.
Whoosh!!!
The light-red glowing arrow pierced the air, flying towards the sky.
Xu Zhi watched the arrow pierce towards his forehead. His very first act upon arrival was to face a wizard battle, prompting him to seriously consider his combat strategy.
"At this moment, I cannot use the War Hammer of Qi. As Medea's renowned wizardry, it's universally effective across all tiers and incredibly powerful, but its consumption is too great, enough to drain one-fifth of a wizard's mental power! I should use the simplest wind-based wizardry to deflect this arrow, to minimize the mental power I expend in this world. After all, every bit used is a bit less. Right now, using 'Small Storm Shield' is the best option."
Xu Zhi pondered for a moment, then quietly opened his mouth:
"War Hammer of Qi."
Rumble!
In the sky, strong winds howled, and clouds surged. A gigantic hammer slowly emerged, countless transparent energy waves converging and condensing, accompanied by a tremendous high-pitched whine and vibration, like an inexplicable roar.
Everyone stared blankly at the sky.
The previously cloudless sky gathered more and more clouds.
How immense was the difference in tiers? A Fourth-Tier had not yet appeared in this era; their strongest were merely Third-Tier Fighters.
Moreover, the current potion system had become quite convoluted and no longer pure. Even among those of the same tier, a wizard focused purely on violent aesthetics possessed destructive power far surpassing the cultivation systems of this era.
The storm surged downwards.
The giant hammer plummeted, effortlessly shattering the arrow shot skyward, and then plunged into the earth.
Rumble!
Trees trembled, the ground shook, and all the knights trembled. A house-sized crater suddenly appeared in the earth.
Xu Zhi watched the group of horrified, stunned human knights on the ground. His hands gripping the parachute tightly, he continued his slow descent, a faint smile spreading across his face. "Here, I no longer need to hold back. I can practice wizardry without worry, and I won't have to fear anyone coming to dig sand in our village anymore."
