Chapter 928: Wood Demon Luring Butterflies

“Three-colored Wind Butterflies of the third order? These demonic insects are quite rare. It would be much simpler if we knew their whereabouts.”

Three-colored Wind Butterflies are extremely fast and highly venomous, typically found in large flower fields. Those of the third order and above develop medicinal stones within their bodies, which are excellent ingredients for refining antidote pills.

Wang Mengyang hesitated for a moment, then said, “Third-order Three-colored Wind Butterflies have been sighted in Myriad Spirit Valley, a place teeming with demonic beasts and spiritual herbs located at the border between humans and demons. However, half-demons frequently appear there, and they show no mercy to humans. Let's not go. Ancestor, there's no need to risk yourselves for this. If you simply transport more goods from the South Sea for me to sell, I can still earn merit.”

Myriad Spirit Valley, a vast gorge, earned its name from the abundance of spiritual herbs and demonic beasts within it. Many cultivators frequent the valley to hunt beasts and gather herbs, though encounters with half-demons are common, often resulting in casualties on both sides.

Wang Ruyan pondered for a moment, then asked, “Do Core Formation cultivators venture into Myriad Spirit Valley to hunt demonic beasts? Are encounters with half-demons frequent? Do Core Formation stage half-demons appear there?”

Given their strength, Core Formation stage half-demons would pose no issue.

“There are quite a few,” he replied, “but if you stay in the outer regions and avoid venturing deep into Myriad Spirit Valley, the chances of encountering half-demons are very low. Still, nothing is absolute. Ancestor, please reconsider. There's no need to take such a risk for my sake.”

Wang Mengyang didn't want Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan to take such risks; he would never forgive himself if anything happened to them.

“If that's the case,” Wang Changsheng said with a smile, “we can certainly give it a try. Don't worry, we'll be careful.”

Naturally, beyond assisting Wang Mengyang, Wang Changsheng also wished to let his spirit beasts out for some exercise.

“Ancestor, the merchant alliance has a detailed map of Myriad Spirit Valley. I'll go acquire a copy. Please wait a moment, I'll be right back,” Wang Mengyang said.

With that, Wang Mengyang turned and departed.

Soon after, Wang Mengyang returned and presented a green jade slip to Wang Changsheng.

“Ancestor, this contains the map of Myriad Spirit Valley and important notes,” Wang Mengyang said, “Please stick to the outer regions and do not venture deep inside. Those half-demons are not to be trifled with.”

Wang Mengyang advised them earnestly. Their safety concerned him far more than any potential merit.

“Don't worry, we know what we're doing,” Wang Changsheng replied. “By the way, we brought some cultivation resources that we don't need; we can sell them to you.”

Wang Ruyan took out a string of storage pearls and emptied their contents, revealing mostly demonic beast materials—demon cores, beast hides, and so on—along with some ores and spiritual herbs.

“This is a lot,” Wang Mengyang said, “I can't authorize a transaction of this size myself. I'll need to call the head manager. Ancestors, please wait a moment while I fetch them.”

“Wait,” Wang Changsheng interjected, “When you introduce us to the head manager, tell them you were our savior.”

It would be unusual for a Core Formation cultivator to transport hundreds of thousands worth of cultivation resources all the way to Monster Suppressing Nation for sale without a compelling reason.

Wang Mengyang was authorized to handle transactions under 100,000 spiritual stones independently, but any transaction exceeding that amount required the head manager's approval.

Soon after, Wang Mengyang returned, accompanied by a tall young woman in a white dress. With her cherry-red lips, delicate nose, rounded face, and skin as white as snow, she had reached the eighth level of Foundation Establishment.

“Senior Wang,” Wang Mengyang introduced, “allow me to present Murong Xue, the head manager of our Ju Bao Pavilion.”

“This junior, Murong Xue, greets both Senior Wangs.”

Wang Changsheng nodded, a look of impatience on his face. “Quickly calculate the value of these items in spiritual stones,” he said. “We have other matters to attend to and little time to waste.”

Murong Xue nodded and meticulously tallied the items on the ground.

Fifteen minutes later, she took out paper and brush, writing out a list. “We'll purchase this lot for 500,000 spiritual stones,” she stated. “Here is the detailed price breakdown for your review.”

Wang Changsheng took the list from Murong Xue, scanned it, and nodded with satisfaction. “No problem,” he said. “The price is considerably higher than other merchant associations, so our long journey here to sell these goods was well worth it.”

Murong Xue smiled sweetly and enthusiastically replied, “Senior Wang, if you have goods to sell in the future, please prioritize us. Our prices will certainly satisfy you.”

“We'll see about that,” Wang Changsheng replied. “If not for young friend Wang saving us in the past, we wouldn't have journeyed all this way to sell these items. They would fetch a high price anywhere in the Eastern Barrens.”

Knowing Wang Changsheng was speaking on his behalf, Wang Mengyang offered a sincere smile. “This junior had no idea senior was a Core Formation cultivator,” he said. “Since senior trusts us, we naturally won't let you down.”

After a brief chat, Wang Changsheng put away the spiritual stones and departed.

Murong Xue and Wang Mengyang personally escorted them out. Only after watching them disappear into the distance did they return to the shop.

“Fellow Daoist Wang,” Murong Xue asked curiously, “When did you save a Core Formation cultivator? Why have I never heard you mention it before?”

“I didn't know he was a Core Formation cultivator either,” Wang Mengyang replied. “He was a Foundation Establishment cultivator at the time, and I simply saved him on a whim. I never expected it to forge such a good connection.”

Wang Mengyang offered his pre-prepared explanation, which was entirely plausible.

“Excellent,” Murong Xue stated with a serious expression. “As merchants, we should always cultivate good relationships. If Senior Wang returns in the future, you must treat them with the utmost hospitality and never be negligent.”

Wang Mengyang breathed a sigh of relief and agreed with a smile.

After leaving Ju Bao Pavilion, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan departed the market and set off directly for Myriad Spirit Valley, leaving Wang Youshan behind in the market.

Myriad Spirit Valley, a colossal valley perennially enveloped in dense mist, teems with venomous insects and beasts. Many cultivators visit to hunt demonic creatures.

Dense, lush trees covered the landscape, and in the quiet mountain forest, the sounds of birds chirping and beasts roaring were ceaseless.

Half a day later, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan emerged into a clearing. Ahead, a vast expanse of colorful flowers stretched out, where numerous butterflies and bees were busily gathering spiritual nectar.

With a flick of Wang Changsheng's wrist, a beam of green light shot forth, transforming into a thorny vine covered in green spikes—it was the Wood Demon.

The Wood Demon, equivalent to a sixth-level Core Formation cultivator, specialized in wood-elemental spells.

The Wood Demon quickly rooted itself underground and moved swiftly towards the flower field.

Soon, it reached the center of the flower field. Small yellow flowers emerged on its surface, emitting a vast cloud of yellow miasma. Any bees or butterflies that came into contact with even a trace of the miasma immediately perished and fell to the ground.

The yellow miasma released by the thorny flowers was an irresistible lure for venomous insects. If Three-colored Wind Butterflies were truly present, the Wood Demon's miasma should attract them.

The green thorny vine rapidly grew, with yellow flowers blooming across its surface, emitting a large cloud of yellow miasma. A sweet scent permeated the air.

Wang Changsheng produced a yellow banner, gave it a gentle shake, and with a flash of yellow light, both he and Wang Ruyan vanished.
