Chapter 88: Demon Wolf

The black lightning dissipated, revealing the weakened Bee King. After all, it was a second-tier demonic insect, and a single Yin-Thunder Talisman couldn't kill it. However, the talisman had severely wounded it, leaving its body scorched and its wings tattered.

“Damn it, die!” Wang Minghao’s eyes reddened. He summoned a shimmering green talisman, which transformed into dozens of green wind blades. These blades instantly struck the dying Bee King, cutting it into several pieces.

Wang Mingyi controlled two green flying daggers, killing a dozen low-grade first-tier green demonic bees.

As soon as the three leading demonic bees died, the remaining bees scattered in disarray.

“Sixteenth Brother, what should we do? Should we continue hunting demonic beasts?” Wang Minghao asked, suppressing the grief and indignation in his heart.

Wang Mingyi shook his head. “We’re only three people,” he said. “Staying here any longer would be a pointless death. Let’s collect Uncle Twelve’s body and the demonic insect’s body, then return to Xianyuan City!”

A quarter of an hour later, they finished packing and disappeared.

Meanwhile, by a small lake about an acre in size, a dozen massive yellow rhinoceroses were drinking water. Not far away, a patch of bushes stood taller than a person. Wang Changsheng and his five companions lay hidden behind them, their eyes fixed on the dozen horned rhinoceroses.

Hundreds of zhang away from the lake, a narrow valley lay, its sides formed by steep stone walls.

“Earth-Splitting Rhinos,” Wang Yaohuan explained, “these demonic beasts are quite timid, renowned for their defense, and have only one attack method. Mingfeng, burrow into the valley and set up the formation talismans. Then, we’ll drive them into the valley, essentially trapping them like a turtle in a jar. To be cautious, scatter some Blazing Oil near the dense forest and gather a large amount of dry branches.” Wang Yaohuan then took out several green talismans, handed them to Wang Mingfeng, and whispered the instructions.

Wang Mingfeng took the talismans, then cast the Earth Burrowing Art, disappearing underground. Soon after, he reappeared inside the valley and set up the formation talismans.

Wang Changsheng and the others went to gather a large amount of branches from a distance, scattering them along the potential escape routes of the Earth-Splitting Rhinos.

“Now!” Wang Yaohuan shouted. He summoned a red gourd, which spewed out massive fireballs, sending them hurtling towards the yellow rhinoceroses. Wang Changsheng and his three companions also summoned their spiritual artifacts, attacking the yellow rhinoceroses.

The Earth-Splitting Rhinos, known for their formidable defense, were unharmed by these attacks. However, being timid by nature, they were terrified by the assault from Wang Changsheng and his four companions, causing them to flee alongside the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino.

Wang Yaohuan and his four companions used spiritual artifacts, talismans, or spells to force the dozen Earth-Splitting Rhinos towards the valley. Although timid, the Earth-Splitting Rhinos did not charge into the valley; instead, they headed towards the dense forest. Fortunately, Wang Yaohuan had anticipated this. He summoned two fireball talismans, igniting the dry branches. The Blazing Oil caused the flames to surge skyward, and the intense heat forced the Earth-Splitting Rhinos to charge into the valley.

Once the last Earth-Splitting Rhino charged into the valley, Wang Mingfeng immediately activated the formation talisman. A vast expanse of green mist materialized out of thin air within the valley, transforming into a colossal green light barrier that enveloped the dozen Earth-Splitting Rhinos.

Wang Changsheng quickly cast a Rain Summoning Spell to extinguish the flames, preventing them from attracting other cultivators.

Countless green lights materialized in mid-air, rapidly transforming into hundreds, if not thousands, of foot-long green wind blades. A loud ‘whoosh’ filled the air as dense green wind blades rained down, eager to strike the dozen Earth-Splitting Rhinos. Even with their thick hides and tough flesh, the Earth-Splitting Rhinos could not withstand the onslaught of so many wind blades. Soon after, several low-grade first-tier Earth-Splitting Rhinos collapsed into pools of blood. The mid-grade first-tier rhinos were covered in wounds, but only the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino remained completely unharmed.

The Earth-Splitting Rhinos scattered in every direction, but the valley’s confined space meant that despite their attempts to dodge, they were still struck by the green wind blades. One green wind blade after another continuously materialized, descending upon the Earth-Splitting Rhinos below.

“Roar!” The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino realized the danger. Its body glowed with a brilliant yellow light, as a layer of grayish-white stone armor materialized tightly against its skin—the Stone Skin Art, an innate spell of the Earth-Splitting Rhinos. The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino charged towards the green light barrier, with the other rhinos following closely behind. Their speed was exceptional, and they quickly reached the green light barrier.

Just then, a sudden gale erupted, preventing their advance. Numerous green lights appeared high in the sky, transforming into three colossal wind blades, each over ten zhang long, that descended upon the Earth-Splitting Rhinos below. Several screams echoed as multiple Earth-Splitting Rhinos were sliced in half by the colossal wind blades. Though the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino survived, it bore a long, bleeding gash across its body.

“Roar!” The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino let out an enraged roar, spewing a yellow sound wave that shattered the gale. Its enormous body then slammed violently into the green light barrier. Numerous green wind blades materialized in mid-air and swiftly slashed down, leaving the Earth-Splitting Rhinos covered in wounds and bleeding profusely.

“Boom!” With a thunderous crash, the green light barrier shattered. The Earth-Splitting Rhinos broke free from their confinement and charged forward.

While the Earth-Splitting Rhinos were trapped by the formation, Wang Mingxiao cast the Quicksand Art, digging a massive pit five zhang deep and four zhang wide. The pit was filled with numerous sharp wooden stakes and a dozen gleaming yellow spikes. The pit was then covered with branches. The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino, being the fastest, ran ahead, but it didn’t get far before feeling the ground vanish beneath it. It plunged into the five-zhang-wide pit. The yellow spikes pierced the Earth-Splitting Rhino’s abdomen, causing profuse bleeding, and it let out a painful shriek.

Several other Earth-Splitting Rhinos then successively fell into the massive pit, piling on top of the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino, which was unable to get up. Wang Changsheng and his five companions promptly manipulated their spiritual artifacts, attacking the first-tier Earth-Splitting Rhinos that were pinning down the second-tier rhino. The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino let out repeated screams, bleeding profusely. The deceased first-tier Earth-Splitting Rhinos, like hundreds of jin heavy boulders, weighed down on the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino, rendering it unable to rise.

Seizing this opportunity, Wang Changsheng and his five companions manipulated their spiritual artifacts, targeting the second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino’s head. The second-tier Earth-Splitting Rhino was unable to move, like a fish on a chopping block. Less than a quarter of an hour later, its head was severed by a massive golden pair of scissors.

This proved that as long as cultivators planned properly, hunting demonic beasts was not overly difficult.

All thirteen Earth-Splitting Rhinos—one low-grade second-tier and twelve first-tier—were killed by Wang Changsheng and his five companions. Regrettably, the second-tier formation talisman, valued at over a thousand spiritual stones, was destroyed by the Earth-Splitting Rhinos.

The Earth-Splitting Rhinos’ bodies were too massive for their storage bags to hold even one. Fortunately, the four major sects had a regulation: for large demonic beasts, only the refining materials needed to be brought back.

After processing the bodies of the thirteen Earth-Splitting Rhinos, they put away their spiritual artifacts and resumed their journey. By this time, they had been in the Hundred Beasts Mountain Range for over ten days, having successfully hunted multiple second-tier demonic beasts. Wang Changsheng had accumulated valuable combat experience, and his coordination with Wang Yaohuan and the others grew increasingly proficient.

Beyond the valley lay a vast grassland, stretching as far as the eye could see. Half a quarter of an hour later, they arrived at the base of a towering earthen slope. Just as they were about to ascend, a massive booming sound, faintly mixed with wolf howls, erupted from behind the slope. Hearing the booming sound, the six immediately halted. A flash of green light beneath Wang Mingfeng’s feet propelled him swiftly up the slope. He quickly reached the top of the slope.

Several cultivators were employing the Wind Manipulation Art to flee for their lives, with hundreds of green demonic wolves hot on their heels.

“No good! A wolf pack! A horde of demonic wolves is charging this way—retreat, quickly!” Wang Mingfeng’s expression changed drastically as he urgently shouted.

Wang Yaohuan swiftly summoned a green flying boat, and Wang Changsheng and his four companions quickly boarded it.

“Go!” The green flying boat slowly ascended, soaring into the sky.

Wang Changsheng looked down and saw two men and one woman lying in pools of blood, as the wolf pack swarmed over them.
