The South Sea, Ten Thousand Swords Sea Region.
The Ten Thousand Swords Sea Region serves as the main base for the Ten Thousand Swords Sect, with most of its islands belonging to them.
Red Snail Island, named for its resemblance to a giant red sea snail, is one of the seven large market cities in the Ten Thousand Swords Sea Region and the venue for the Sword Fighting Convention.
As the Sword Fighting Convention approached, the Ten Thousand Swords Sea Region became very lively, with sword cultivators from various places continuously arriving.
Sword cultivators are known for being invincible among their peers, and each one is extremely confident in their abilities. The Ten Thousand Swords Sect continuously dispatched more patrolling cultivators to prevent any disturbances.
Liu Sheng's ancestors for three generations were disciples of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect. He possessed ordinary talent but, relying on the patronage of his forefathers, successfully advanced to the Foundation Establishment stage. He is currently at the sixth level of Foundation Establishment and is responsible for leading patrol teams.
One day, as usual, he was leading a team of disciples on patrol.
Suddenly, several streaks of light appeared on the horizon in the distance, moving very fast.
Liu Sheng quickly stopped, and the others followed suit.
In less than ten breaths, the streaks of light stopped in the air a hundred *zhang* away, opposite Liu Sheng and his group.
The lights dissipated, revealing two men and one woman.
One was a tall young man in a green robe, carrying a blue sword box adorned with intricate patterns. Another was a handsome young man in a red robe, carrying a large red sword on his back and a red gourd at his waist. The third was a young woman in a white dress, in her early thirties, carrying three white flying swords, with a rare heroic spirit in her brows.
The red-robed young man and the white-dressed young woman both had a black eagle pattern on their clothes, which seemed to signify something.
Seeing the black eagle pattern on their clothes, Liu Sheng showed a sincere smile and said, "Junior Liu Sheng of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect greets Senior Dugu. Is there anything I can assist you with?"
The Dugu family from Divine Eagle Island is one of the Ten Great Immortal Cultivation Families in the South Sea, with a heritage spanning over ten thousand years. Their clan boasts numerous masters and deep foundations, making the Dugu family nearly as powerful as the Ten Thousand Swords Sect.
The green-robed young man's clothes bore no markings, but being in the company of Core Formation cultivators from the Dugu family suggested he was no ordinary person.
"We are heading to Red Snail Island. Is it correct to continue south?"
The green-robed young man asked casually. He was none other than Wang Qingshan.
After leaving Sea Cucumber Island, Wang Qingshan headed directly for the Ten Thousand Swords Sea Region. Along the way, he met two Core Formation stage sword cultivators, and through their initial interaction, they decided to travel together.
"Precisely. The three seniors just need to continue heading south. Due to the recent influx of seniors arriving at Red Snail Island, our Ten Thousand Swords Sect has activated certain restrictions. Within twenty *li* of Red Snail Island, there's an aerial restriction, so you can only travel by spirit beasts. We hope the three seniors understand."
Liu Sheng said respectfully.
The red-robed young man nodded and said, "Understood. Fellow Daoist Wang, let's pick up the pace!"
After saying this, a brilliant red light erupted from his body, and a red sword light appeared beneath him, carrying him quickly upwards.
Wang Qingshan and the white-dressed young woman exchanged a glance, then transformed into two streaks of light and followed.
After about the time it takes to steep a cup of tea, they involuntarily began to descend towards the sea surface.
The sea ahead was frozen, with ice several feet thick, emitting a biting chill. Many spirit beasts were carrying cultivators, running across the ice.
Wang Qingshan paid no mind. With a slight flick of his wrist, the Three-Headed Fox emerged from his spirit beast orb. He jumped onto its back, and the Three-Headed Fox, understanding his intent, quickly galloped forward with great speed.
The Three-Headed Fox had been tamed by Wang Qingshan for a century and was now very obedient.
The red-robed young man released a three-*zhang*-large crimson turtle. Its shell was covered with palm-sized crimson scales, and it had a long, slender tail.
The red-robed young man and the white-dressed young woman stepped onto the back of the crimson turtle. The crimson turtle's speed was in no way slower than that of the Three-Headed Fox.
As Wang Qingshan rode the Three-Headed Fox forward, he observed the cultivators ahead of them.
They were men and women, old and young, some carrying sword boxes, some carrying flying swords, and a few cultivators with empty hands.
The markings on their clothes varied greatly, clearly indicating they came from different powers.
Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at Red Snail Island. On the island stood a massive city, with walls stretching for hundreds of *li* and over thirty *zhang* high.
The market city was vast, with crowds flowing like a tide through its streets. Most of the cultivators on the streets were sword cultivators, and the shops on both sides primarily sold flying swords or materials for forging them.
"Come one, come all, take a look! A set of flying swords crafted from deep-sea cold iron, immensely powerful!"
"Fire-attribute flying swords refined with profound fire crystal, a thousand-year-old shop, quality guaranteed! Come inside and take a look!"
"Sword boxes, sword pouches! We accept custom orders, come inside and see!"
Calls and shouts were continuous, creating a very lively scene.
In the distance stood a colossal statue, unmistakably that of an imposing old man in a green robe. He carried a giant sword on his back and gazed into the distance.
"So this is the City of Sword Cultivators? Quite interesting."
The red-robed young man murmured to himself, a hint of excitement in his expression.
Red Snail Market City was a large market established by the Ten Thousand Swords Sect. During the Sword Fighting Convention, a large number of sword cultivators gathered on Red Snail Island, which is why Red Snail Market City was also known as the City of Sword Cultivators.
Wang Qingshan smiled slightly and suggested, "Fellow Daoist Dugu, I heard there's a statue of a Soul Transformation stage sword cultivator in the center of the market city. Shall we go take a look?"
The red-robed young man was named Dugu Huaide, a fifth-level Core Formation cultivator. The white-dressed young woman was named Dugu Huairong, a fourth-level Core Formation cultivator.
"Of course. Since we've made the journey, we must go see Senior Song."
After about the time it takes to steep a cup of tea, they arrived at a large bluestone plaza.
In the center of the plaza stood a colossal statue, over twenty *zhang* tall. Next to it was a three-*zhang*-tall silver stone tablet, on which were inscribed the life and deeds of the statue's subject: Song Junting, Grand Elder of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect. Over five thousand years ago, when the Barbarian and Demon tribes united to attack humanity, causing countless human casualties, Song Junting ventured alone deep into Barbarian territory, slaying the Barbarian Grand Priest and several other priests, forcing the Barbarian tribe to retreat. Humanity then repelled the demon attack. Later generations erected this monument to commemorate Song Junting.
Thousands of flying swords were stuck into the ground around the statue.
Hundreds of sword cultivators bowed respectfully to Song Junting's statue. Wang Qingshan and his two companions also paid their respects.
"Senior Song alone ventured deep into Barbarian territory, forcing the Barbarian tribe to retreat. He truly is a model for our generation," Dugu Huaide sighed with emotion.
"Indeed! Since then, the Barbarian tribe has never recovered, and their influence has steadily dwindled. It's estimated that in a few more millennia, the Barbarian tribe might cease to exist," a short, stout man in a yellow robe said with a smile.
Dugu Huairong shook her head and said, "A centipede dies but never stiffens. The Barbarian tribe won't be extinguished so easily. Besides, Barbarians are natural body cultivators, with incredibly powerful physiques. Ordinary cultivators can't do much against Barbarian cultivators; only we sword cultivators fare a bit better."
"There's always someone better out there. The Barbarian tribe still has masters. Guluo is known as the top Core Formation Barbarian. He's also in Red Snail Market City. If any of you have the ability, go challenge him for a spar."
A somewhat playful male voice suddenly rang out.
