"Do Dao Ancestors still undergo heavenly tribulations?"
Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan were stunned.
"Grand Luo Golden Immortals can choose a single Law to achieve Dao. After advancing to Dao Ancestor, they can then develop a second fundamental Law. My master told me that developing a second fundamental Law is extremely dangerous, even more perilous than the tribulations faced when ascending to Dao Ancestor; a Dao Ancestor could even perish. However, the benefits are equally significant, as developing a second fundamental Law can vastly increase one's power." Longyue Immortal explained.
"So that's how it is. In that case, has the Ancestral Dragon developed a second fundamental Law?" Wang Changsheng pressed.
"I don't know. During the last major battle, I didn't hear of him using a second fundamental Law; he primarily fought using the fundamental Law of Strength. So many years have passed, perhaps he has developed a second fundamental Law, or perhaps not!" Longyue Immortal replied.
"If the Ancestral Dragon is so powerful, then the Primordial Phoenix and the Qilin should be equally formidable." Wang Ruyan remarked.
Longyue Immortal nodded: "Besides the Ancestral Dragon, the Primordial Phoenix and the Qilin are also incredibly strong. They can each take on two opponents without falling into a disadvantage. Our human Dao Ancestors aren't quite that powerful, which is a major reason for the formidable strength of the demon race. A Dao Ancestor's strength depends on the Law through which they achieved Dao, the number of fundamental Laws they've developed, and their Dao artifacts. Of course, not every Dao Ancestor possesses a Dao artifact; my master, for example, does not."
The Kunlun Dao Ancestor's natal immortal artifact is a set of top-grade immortal artifacts infused with Primordial Spirit Treasures, but it is not a Dao artifact. The Kunlun Dao Ancestor wishes to elevate the Taiyi Creation Pot into a Dao artifact. One could say that the Taiyi Creation Pot possesses immense potential to become a Dao artifact, but whether it actually will is another matter entirely.
"My master doesn't have one either, but I heard that Senior Zhang obtained the Taiyi Creation Pot. This treasure is refined with a mutated Primordial Spirit Treasure, so its potential to ascend to a Dao artifact is quite significant." Xuetang Immortal looked on with envy.
"How should I put it? The Taiyi Creation Pot has that potential, but its function doesn't lend itself to direct combat." Longyue Immortal sighed.
Many Dao artifacts have been born in the immortal realm. Not all are offensive; there are also defensive and auxiliary types. Even if the Taiyi Creation Pot were to become a Dao artifact, it would most likely be an auxiliary one.
"That's hard to say. Perhaps it will undergo a metamorphosis! My master once obtained an ancient text that stated a top-grade immortal artifact refined with a mutated Primordial Spirit Treasure, when transforming into a Dao artifact, could undergo immense changes." Xuetang Immortal said.
"What's recorded in ancient texts isn't necessarily useful, and my master has no experience in this area. Moreover, the Taiyi Creation Pot is only a high-grade immortal artifact." Longyue Immortal responded.
"Immortal Lin, Senior Zhang can't upgrade the Taiyi Creation Pot to a top-grade immortal artifact?" Wang Changsheng asked curiously.
Longyue Immortal gave a wry smile and explained: "Fellow Daoist Wang, it's quite difficult to raise the grade of an immortal artifact refined with a Primordial Spirit Treasure. For an immortal artifact refined with a *mutated* Primordial Spirit Treasure, the difficulty of raising its grade is even higher. If it were so easy to elevate them to top-grade immortal artifacts, such treasures wouldn't be so rare."
"I heard that Fellow Daoist Wang is skilled in artifact crafting. Perhaps Fellow Daoist Wang can help in the future." Xuetang Immortal offered.
"I appreciate Immortal Xu's auspicious words." Wang Changsheng said with a smile.
Xuetang Immortal and Longyue Immortal were both disciples of Dao Ancestors. Their knowledge was extensive, and Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan benefited greatly from conversing with them.
"By the way, Immortal Lin, has Immortal Bu not arrived yet?" Xuetang Immortal asked.
"No, perhaps he was delayed by something! Maybe he's already on his way." Longyue Immortal said.
"If he arrives at Kunlun Immortal City, please send someone to notify me. I have something I need to discuss with him." Xuetang Immortal requested.
"No problem." Longyue Immortal agreed.
"If Immortal Bu makes an appearance, please inform us as well, Immortal Lin. Qiulin has long admired him and wishes to seek some guidance." Wang Changsheng said.
Immortal Bu is a renowned diviner at the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage. The Kunlun Dao Ancestor's disciple, Bagua Immortal Lord, also mastered the Law of Destiny and was skilled in divination, but he was killed by a Chaos Beast and has not yet been revived.
Many Grand Luo Golden Immortals attended this Kunlun Dharma Assembly. Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan befriended many of them. Some Grand Luo Golden Immortals possessed specific skills—alchemy, brewing, formation arrangement, cultivation, and so on—and they introduced them to their clan members, asking these Grand Luo Golden Immortals for a few pointers. Out of respect for Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan, these Grand Luo Golden Immortals offered their advice. Skilled talents like Ye Haitang, Wang Qingbai, and Du Xueyao benefited significantly.
"Certainly." Longyue Immortal promised.
After chatting for about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Xuetang Immortal took out a white, shimmering disc, formed a hand seal, and a joyful expression appeared on her face.
"Immortal Lin, Fellow Daoist Wang, Madam Wang, I have some matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave now. We can talk more later." Xuetang Immortal said, rising to depart.
Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan also took their leave, departing from Longyue Garden.
Back at Green Lotus Garden, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan recorded the day's conversation. Information was a crucial resource for cultivation, and without Longyue Immortal and Xuetang Immortal answering their questions, it would have been difficult for them to acquire such knowledge. With this information, the Wang family members now had a clearer plan for their future path in cultivation.
Half a month later, the Kunlun Dharma Assembly officially commenced, presided over by Longyue Immortal. Over fifty Grand Luo Golden Immortals attended, most of them human, but there were also Grand Luo Golden Immortals from the demon, witch, devil, and ghost races. More than fifty Grand Luo Golden Immortals gathered, exchanging cultivation insights and debating the Dao.
The Qiyan Mountain Range stretched for hundreds of millions of miles. This was the ancestral land of the Qiyan King Tribe, where numerous Chaos Beasts could be seen.
Deep within the mountain range, a humanoid nine-colored Chaos Beast and another nine-colored Chaos Beast stood high in the sky, gazing at distant ten-colored thunderclouds. Lightning flashed and thunder roared as massive ten-colored bolts struck down, sending out shockwaves like surging tides.
In less than fifteen minutes, the ten-colored thunderclouds dispersed.
"Another failure!" the humanoid nine-colored Chaos Beast said with disappointment.
Qu, a Dao Ancestor of the Qiyan King Tribe, revealed that one of their Grand Luo Golden Immortals had perished under the heavenly tribulation while attempting to become a Dao Ancestor.
"I thought your Qiyan King Tribe might gain another Dao Ancestor!" said the other nine-colored Chaos Beast. That was Xiang, the Dao Ancestor of the Hunxie King Tribe.
"I wish. It's not that easy to gain another Dao Ancestor. Why do you have time to visit our Qiyan King Tribe?" Qu asked.
"I came to see how your recovery is progressing. You were injured by the Ancestral Dragon in the last battle and haven't shown yourself for many years." Xiang replied.
"My injuries were only minor, and I've almost fully recovered. Qu of the Naiman Tribe was severely wounded by the Ancestral Dragon. If Chen of the Er'ersi King Tribe hadn't intervened to save him, he likely would have been killed by the Ancestral Dragon." Qu said, his eyes filled with fear.
"The Ancestral Dragon's strength is truly monstrous; he could suppress three Chaos Beasts at once. Chen, from the Er'ersi King Tribe, is a ten-colored Chaos Beast and the strongest among the twelve Chaos Beast Dao Ancestors."
"The Ancestral Dragon is indeed powerful, but two fists are no match for four hands. He was also injured by Chen and hasn't appeared for many years." Xiang said.
"The Ancestral Dragon's physical body is too strong; his recovery must be faster. Moreover, the Immortals have external aids for healing: immortal pills, immortal medicines, immortal wine, immortal formations, immortal talismans. For us to heal, we need to see if Lord Teng agrees." Qu stated.
When a Dao Ancestor is injured, recovery is not easy. Immortals have many external means for healing, whereas Chaos Beasts mainly rely on the Ten Directions Mother-Child Pagoda. The Ten Directions Mother-Child Pagoda does not grant requests lightly, and the cost is considerable.
"You didn't come all this way just to talk about these things, did you? Just say what you need." Qu's tone was heavy.
"I want to request five slots for entry into the Mother Pagoda's ritual. I hope that through this, we can gain an additional ten-colored clan member at the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage." Xiang proposed.
The Qiyan King Tribe and the Naiman King Tribe are united against Ancestral Dragon City. The Qiyan King Tribe's strength is far greater than that of the Hunxie King Tribe.
"Five slots? What are you offering in return?" Qu asked.
"A top-grade immortal artifact refined with a Primordial Spirit Treasure. Lord Teng would surely be very pleased with it." Xiang replied.
Among the twelve major Chaos Beast tribes, there are distinctions in strength, and thus the number of slots each tribe receives varies.
"You want five slots for one item? Do you think there are many slots for Grand Luo Golden Immortal-stage clan members to enter the Mother Pagoda's ritual? At most, two." Qu countered.
"Three! No less. If not, I'll find another tribe." Xiang insisted.
"Three it is then. Deal." Qu agreed.
