Some immortals spend years trying to comprehend Supreme Laws but fail. They can't simply persist indefinitely; there are many instances where immortals eventually comprehend Supreme Laws after obtaining advanced cultivation techniques, treasures, or special immortal arrays years later.
Some immortals comprehend Supreme Laws during the True Immortal stage, others master them at the Golden Immortal stage, and still others only achieve this at the Grand Unity Golden Immortal or Grand Luo Golden Immortal stages. Each additional aperture one opens increases the likelihood of mastering a Supreme Law, which is one reason why high-level aperture-opening secret techniques are so valuable.
“That’s true! However, opening apertures isn’t always successful. To this day, I’ve only opened eight, mastering eight types of fundamental laws.”
Nangong Yueshuo sighed. Although he hadn't mastered a Supreme Law, he was still considered a prodigy. Fortunately, he had comprehended the Star Law, allowing him to cast the Dao Art, Meteor Shower.
“There’s no need to force yourself to master a Supreme Law,” Fang Xiong said. “Mastering a single Dao Art is powerful enough.”
“That’s true; mastering a Dao Art makes dealing with enemies much easier,” Wang Changsheng said curiously. “Speaking of which, Fellow Daoist Fang, hasn’t Senior Zhang deduced any powerful Dao Arts?”
“Fellow Daoist Wang, you’re thinking too simply,” Fang Xiong slowly replied. “Do you think Dao Arts can be deduced so casually? Deducing a Dao Art requires not only a vast amount of energy but also talent and time. The deduced Dao Art might not even be perfect; some have significant flaws initially and need continuous refinement until they are flawless. If it were that easy to deduce Dao Arts, they wouldn’t be so scarce in the Immortal Realm after existing for so many years.”
Precisely because Dao Arts are so rare, some major powers even master the same ones. Even then, it’s highly impressive for a major power to master a single Dao Art.
In the Immortal Realm, a clan possessing a Grand Luo Golden Immortal can be called an Immortal Clan. However, this is merely the view of lower-tier immortals. In the eyes of higher-tier immortals, a clan can only truly be called an Immortal Clan if it has a Grand Luo Golden Immortal and masters a Dao Art. This is not surprising: to mortals, Foundation Establishment cultivators are immortals; in the eyes of Foundation Establishment cultivators, Nascent Soul cultivators are immortals; and to Nascent Soul cultivators, Grand Ascension cultivators are the true immortals.
“That’s true!” Nangong Yueshuo agreed wholeheartedly. “Our ancestor has been attempting to deduce spatial Dao Arts, but hasn’t succeeded yet.”
“Dao Arts aren’t invincible either,” Master Mingren said. “A perfectly mastered Supreme Law can contend with a Dao Art. Different Supreme Laws have different strengths. Fellow Daoist Wang, your mastery of the Soul Law is particularly effective against Chaos Beasts.”
“Exactly,” Fang Xiong said gravely, his expression solemn. “The soul is the foundation of all living beings. Whether it’s a Chaos Beast or an Outer Realm Devil, the Soul Law restrains them. However, once they reach the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage, Chaos Beasts become much harder to deal with. Triple-mutated Chaos Beasts are still somewhat manageable, but if you encounter a King Beast, you should run as far as you possibly can.”
“Fellow Daoist Fang, have you ever fought a King Beast?” Wang Changsheng asked.
“Not yet,” Fang Xiong replied, “but many veteran Grand Luo Golden Immortals have lost their lives encountering King Beasts.”
“Given our current strength, it’s best to flee if we encounter a King Beast,” Master Mingren said. “If it’s a King Beast that has mastered a Supreme Law, it’s even more formidable. One of my fellow disciples died at the hands of such a creature.”
After chatting for most of the day, Fang Xiong, Nangong Yueshuo, and Master Mingren took their leave.
Once all the guests had departed, Wang Changsheng entered a private chamber where the Four Seasons Painting hung on the wall.
Blue light glowed brightly around his body as he stepped into the Four Seasons Painting, appearing before the entrance of a magnificent, resplendent palace. The plaque above the entrance read “Kun Palace.”
The Wang family had established the Kun Hall, primarily tasked with cultivating Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish, with the aim of breeding more mutated specimens. Yu Lang served as the deputy head of the Kun Hall.
Inside the grand hall, a green jade table stood, behind which Yu Lang sat, diligently organizing ancient texts.
“Senior Wang,” Yu Lang said.
Upon seeing Wang Changsheng, Yu Lang quickly rose to his feet.
Without Wang Changsheng, the Merman race would have been annihilated.
“How are the Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish growing?” Wang Changsheng asked. “Have any new mutations appeared?”
“Yes, there are currently five,” Yu Lang replied. “We experimented with a large number of Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish and found that cultivating them from the True Immortal stage is best. When True Immortal Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish consume the pure crystal cores of True Immortal Chaos Beasts, it enhances their innate origin power, making mutations more likely to occur. They haven’t developed weapons, but their physical resilience is comparable to Chaos Beasts, and their divine abilities are considerable. Currently, there’s only one mutated Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish at the Grand Unity Golden Immortal stage, which is Wang Kun.”
As he reported, Yu Lang retrieved a thick blue volume and handed it to Wang Changsheng for inspection.
Wang Changsheng flipped through a few pages and nodded. The records were very detailed, covering everything from the Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish’s daily feeding to their divine abilities after mutation. In addition to written descriptions, there were also visual records.
“Take good care of the Golden-Bearded Ice-Scaled Fish!” Wang Changsheng encouraged. “I won’t treat you unfairly.”
“Yes, Senior Wang, it is my honor to serve you,” Yu Lang promised, his expression respectful.
Wang Changsheng gave a few more instructions before exiting the Four Seasons Painting.
He then entered another secret chamber where the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron was placed in the center. Wang Changsheng sat cross-legged on a cushion, took out his artifact refining materials, and began his work.
For this Grand Luo celebration, Wang Ruyan had already obtained the immortal pill needed to attempt her breakthrough to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage. She was now in secluded cultivation. What she needed next were high-level treasures for transcending her tribulation. Wang Changsheng had long since instructed his clan members to keep an eye out for rare artifact refining materials.
He successively placed the refining materials into the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron and sealed the lid.
Chaos Continent, Ten Thousand Beasts City.
Inside the Ten Thousand Beasts Hall, Liu Qian sat in the main seat, her gaze commanding.
Jiang Bin stood nearby, reporting to Liu Qian.
“Immortal Lord Tai Hao has advanced to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage!” Liu Qian exclaimed in surprise. “His cultivation speed is truly remarkable!” Wang Changsheng’s cultivation speed had indeed surpassed her own.
“It’s absolutely true,” Jiang Bin replied. “The Wang family held a Grand Luo celebration, inviting numerous major powers. Senior Fang Xiong, a disciple of Immortal Lord Yu Lei, led a delegation. The Nangong Immortal Clan, Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect, the Ye family, the Cao family, and other forces all sent representatives. Many powers now refer to the Wang family as the ‘Wang Immortal Clan’.”
“Has there been any progress on that matter?” Liu Qian inquired.
“There’s no evidence whatsoever to suggest the Wang family was responsible,” Jiang Bin stated. “All we know is that they all entered the Immortal Spirit Tomb.”
“Never mind,” Liu Qian said with a frown. “Let’s just drop this matter. The Wang family and the Nangong Immortal Clan are in-laws; they’re undoubtedly allied. Our standing before Senior Zhang will be diminished.”
Wang Changsheng’s advancement to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage was not good news for the Ten Thousand Beasts Palace. Given the poor relationship between the Nangong Immortal Clan and the Ten Thousand Beasts Palace, it was highly unlikely the Wang family would be amicable towards them.
“If Immortal Fairy Tian Qin also advances to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage, the Nangong Immortal Clan’s power will grow even stronger,” Jiang Bin remarked.
“We can’t control that,” Liu Qian stated. “Just ensure our subordinates are well-disciplined and avoid direct confrontations with them as much as possible. They wouldn’t dare to do anything to us anyway.”
“Yes, Aunt Liu,” Jiang Bin acknowledged before taking his leave.
