Chapter 4473: Feng Xiao, Long Han

"My name is Yun Heng!" said a black-robed youth of medium build, whose body exuded demonic energy and was covered in some demonic patterns.

"Xue Jiao!" a beautiful woman in a purple dress introduced herself.

They gestured for Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan to sit down, and Yuan Tianshan picked up a teapot, pouring each of them a cup of immortal tea that was a reddish color.

"Fellow Daoist Wang, Madam Wang, please try the Fire Qilin Immortal Tea! Fellow Daoist Lin brought this out," Yuan Tianshan said warmly.

Wang Changsheng picked up the teacup and took a sip. It felt less like tea and more like a raging inferno. A warm current rose in his abdomen, followed by a sensation of heat throughout his body. Soon after, the heat dissipated, replaced by a refreshing coolness that spread everywhere, and his divine soul grew slightly stronger.

"An immortal tea that strengthens the divine soul! Excellent, a fine tea," Wang Changsheng praised.

"At our cultivation level, even drinking large quantities of Fire Qilin Immortal Tea won't significantly strengthen our divine souls; it's better than nothing, though," Lin Er said.

"Fellow Daoist Lin, if I may ask, is your true form a Fire Qilin?" Wang Changsheng inquired politely.

"No, I merely possess the bloodline of a Fire Qilin. Why do you ask, Fellow Daoist Wang?" Lin Er replied.

Like dragons having nine distinct sons, Qilin also have many branches: Thunder Qilin, Ink Qilin, Earth Qilin, and so on.

"I once knew a fellow Daoist who called himself Lin Jiu. Do you all use numbers in your names?" Wang Changsheng asked, his face full of curiosity.

"Names are just designations; we don't pay them much mind. There are quite a few clansmen named Lin Jiu; I myself know over a dozen," Lin Er explained.

"I see, no wonder," Wang Changsheng realized with understanding.

He had thought Lin Er and Lin Jiu were brothers! So that was it.

"Fellow Daoist Yuan, weren't people from Vermilion Bird Island also supposed to attend the gathering? Why haven't they arrived yet?" Yun Heng inquired.

Yuan Tianshan was about to speak when he pulled out a yellow-glowing formation plate. He struck it with a magic incantation, made a few gestures, and then said with a smile, "They've arrived. I'll be right back." He put away the plate and quickly walked out.

Not long after, Yuan Tianshan returned, accompanied by a graceful young woman in a red dress and a tall youth in a golden robe. Both possessed cultivation at the Grand Unity Golden Immortal Great Perfection stage.

"Allow me to introduce you all. These two are Fairy Feng and Fellow Daoist Long," Yuan Tianshan announced.

"This humble one is Feng Xiao; I greet all fellow Daoists.""My name is Long Han," the young woman in red and the youth in gold introduced themselves.

Wang Changsheng and the other five present announced their names in turn, with Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan using assumed names.

Feng Xiao and Long Han took their seats, and the eight individuals began to chat idly over tea.

"I heard that recently, Chaos Beasts caused trouble, sending multiple Grand Unity Golden Immortal-stage Chaos Beasts into our immortal territory. Fairy Feng participated in that battle and even slew an eight-colored Chaos Beast at the Grand Unity Golden Immortal stage," Yun Heng asked, his face filled with admiration.

"They were searching for the Heavenly Soul Treasure Mirror, an item left behind by Yun Kongzi. It's a high-grade immortal artifact with considerable power," Feng Xiao explained.

"The Heavenly Soul Treasure Mirror, so that's what it was! No wonder the Chaos Beasts deployed so many experts. As the successor of Vermilion Bird Island, Fairy Feng must have cultivated soul-strengthening techniques. With your powerful divine soul, the Heavenly Soul Treasure Mirror shouldn't be able to severely harm you," Yun Heng said, his face filled with envy.

"Fellow Daoist Yun, you jest. The Heavenly Soul Treasure Mirror has been refined with a Primordial Spirit Treasure, making its power far surpass ordinary high-grade immortal artifacts. When it comes to powerful divine souls, Fellow Daoist Wang and Madam Wang's souls are even stronger than mine, almost comparable to Grand Supreme Golden Immortals," Feng Xiao stated.

Upon hearing this, Yuan Tianshan and the other five present were utterly astonished.

"Fairy Feng, are you not joking?" Yuan Tianshan asked, somewhat incredulous.

"My innate divine ability allows me to perceive the strength of others' divine souls. Over the years, I've met many Grand Unity Golden Immortals, and none of their divine souls are as strong as those of Fellow Daoist Wang and Madam Wang," Feng Xiao explained.

"In our early years, we consumed Profound Soul Immortal Peaches and other immortal elixirs that strengthen the divine soul, which is why our souls are somewhat stronger," Wang Changsheng explained.

"To have obtained immortal elixirs and fruits that strengthen the divine soul, Fellow Daoist Wang and Madam Wang must have truly remarkable opportunities," Yun Heng said, his face full of envy.

"Everyone encounters opportunities, Fellow Daoist Yun. You flatter us," Wang Changsheng said modestly.

He and Wang Ruyan had indeed consumed many Profound Soul Immortal Peaches and also cultivated the "Heavenly Soul Treasure Codex," which made their divine souls considerably powerful.

The eight conversed freely, discussing various topics ranging from cultivation insights and the mastery of laws to methods for dealing with Chaos Beasts.

From their discourse, Feng Xiao and the others discovered that Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan possessed extensive knowledge and vast experience, far surpassing ordinary Grand Unity Golden Immortals.

After more than an hour, the conversation concluded, and they began to exchange items. Feng Xiao and the others presented many valuable items, which would be considered good by ordinary Grand Unity Golden Immortals, but Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan found them unappealing. However, the items brought out by Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan were quite coveted by Yun Heng and the others.

Yun Heng and the other six exchanged their items with Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan, allowing the latter to acquire some materials.

Two hours later, the gathering concluded, and everyone returned to their respective homes.

In a five-story golden pavilion, Feng Xiao and Long Han sat on chairs, sipping tea and chatting idly.

"Their divine souls are really almost comparable to Grand Supreme Golden Immortals? That's quite impressive," Long Han said in surprise.

"More or less! They must have cultivated high-level soul-strengthening techniques; merely consuming immortal elixirs wouldn't make their divine souls this powerful. Judging by their demeanor and the items they presented, they are most likely disciples or clansmen specially cultivated by a major power, perhaps even the grand-disciples of a Dao Ancestor," Feng Xiao speculated.

"Grand-disciples of a Dao Ancestor! We also know grand-disciples of Dao Ancestors, but we've never heard of them. If they truly are grand-disciples of a Dao Ancestor, why wouldn't they openly reveal their identity?" Long Han asked, puzzled.

"Perhaps to avoid trouble! Grand-disciples of Dao Ancestors draw attention wherever they go, so if they wish to travel, concealing their identity is better. Or perhaps I overestimated them, and they simply had great opportunities that made their divine souls stronger," Feng Xiao analyzed.

"It would have been better if you hadn't mentioned their exceptionally strong divine souls. Now, they likely won't stay long," Long Han said with a hint of regret.

"I precisely don't want them to stay long. If anything were to happen to them within our Vermilion Bird Island territory, it would cause significant trouble. There have been previous instances of this. For powerful Grand Unity Golden Immortals like them, whose origins are unknown, it's best they don't linger, otherwise, if something goes wrong, it would be difficult for us to handle," Feng Xiao explained.

If a Dao Ancestor's grand-disciple were to be killed while traveling, local powers would be compelled to investigate. Finding the culprit would be one thing, but failing to do so would be problematic. If the individuals were accompanied by a Grand Supreme Golden Immortal, of course, there would be no issue.

Long Han nodded, expressing his strong agreement.

At the Golden Cicada Pavilion, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan sat on chairs, with Wang Changsheng holding the Golden Glazed Mirror.

He had eavesdropped on Feng Xiao and Long Han's conversation. Wang Changsheng put away the Golden Glazed Mirror, let out a soft sigh, and said, "We can't stay here any longer; we need to find another place."

Since Feng Xiao had publicly stated that their divine souls were exceptionally powerful, remaining in the market city would make them susceptible to the covetous gaze of opportunistic individuals.

"There are many capable individuals among the demon race; Feng Xiao could discern the extraordinary strength of our divine souls simply with her innate divine ability," Wang Ruyan lamented.

Wang Changsheng fully agreed. Three days later, they departed from Vermilion Bird Market City.
