Chapter 432: Request

Half a month quickly passed, and on this day, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan were drinking tea and chatting in the stone pavilion.

"Husband," Wang Ruyan said, "don't you think Senior Chen has been coming too frequently? I always feel he has ulterior motives. I think we should leave soon!"

Wang Ruyan was a bit worried. While it would be understandable to let Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan stay for a few extra days out of gratitude for saving their lives, Chen Yilong's visits were too frequent, and his demeanor was remarkably humble. Chen Yilong was, after all, the leader of a sect; even if his cultivation wasn't high, he didn't need to adopt such a humble posture.

Wang Changsheng nodded and said, "I was thinking the same thing. We'll take our leave shortly."

His expression shifted, and he touched the spiritual beast bead on his hand. A flash of spiritual light appeared, and the Bi-pupil Rat flew out from within. The Bi-pupil Rat's body had grown more than a size rounder, making it appear even more bloated and clumsy.

The Bi-pupil Rat had helped Wang Changsheng acquire many valuable items and served as his aide. Wang Changsheng had not treated it poorly, feeding it a hundred-year spiritual medicine every few months. It was already a second-tier high-grade spiritual beast, with a sense of smell even more acute than before.

Wang Ruyan had raised two Jade-eyed Cold Silkworms, both cultivated to second-tier low-grade. As Jade-eyed Cold Silkworms were listed among the Heaven and Earth Exotic Insects and required more resources for advancement, it was quite impressive that she had managed this, considering the spiritual stones she earned were either spent on Wang Changsheng or on their children and grandchildren.

The Bi-pupil Rat was skilled at finding spiritual medicine, possessing a keen sense of smell. The Wang family had purchased several first-tier female Bi-pupil Rats to breed with Wang Changsheng's Bi-pupil Rat, and they had already bred over twenty of them. Clan members hunting monster beasts outside would often bring Bi-pupil Rats to search for spiritual medicine.

Wang Changsheng smiled faintly and placed the Bi-pupil Rat on the table. The creature continuously made strange chirping noises, seemingly begging for something. Wang Changsheng took out a piece of greenish fish meat, the size of a watermelon, and placed it on the table. The South Sea was rich in monster beast resources, with fish monsters being the most abundant. This was the meat of a second-tier monster beast, the Azure Carp Demon, whose flesh was delicious and contained spiritual energy.

The Bi-pupil Rat didn't stand on ceremony, immediately gnawing on the meat, its tail wagging continuously. It ate very quickly, and in less than a quarter of an hour, the piece of fish meat was soon in its stomach. After eating its fill, the Bi-pupil Rat lay on the stone table with its limbs stretched out, looking utterly content.

Wang Ruyan saw this scene and couldn't help but let out a giggle. "Husband, your Bi-pupil Rat is quite amusing."

"This fellow has quite an appetite," Wang Changsheng said. "Second-tier spiritual medicine is too expensive, but thankfully, it also eats monster beast meat. Then again, this little guy eats anything that contains spiritual energy; it's not picky at all." Wang Changsheng affectionately patted the Bi-pupil Rat's bulging belly and said with a smile.

Suddenly, Wang Changsheng sensed something. He recalled the Bi-pupil Rat into the spiritual beast bead, and his palm glowed with a blue light, transforming into a large sheet of clear water which he used to clean the marks off the stone table.

Not long after, Chen Yilong's voice came from outside: "Fellow Daoist Wang, I've acquired a jar of fine tea. Would you be willing to sample it?"

"Fellow Daoist Chen, please come in."

Soon, Chen Yilong walked in, holding an exquisite tea canister.

"Fellow Daoist Chen, you've arrived at a good time. Do you have any news about the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Water?" Wang Changsheng forced a smile and asked.

"Not yet," Chen Yilong replied. "Heaven and Earth Spiritual Water is an excellent material for alchemy and artifact refining; it's already quite rare, not to mention third-tier Heaven and Earth Spiritual Water. Fellow Daoist Wang, please stay a bit longer, and as soon as I have any news about it, I will inform you immediately."

"Thank you for your kindness, Fellow Daoist Chen. My wife and I have matters to attend to and cannot stay long. If fate allows, we shall meet again someday." Wang Changsheng said politely. He couldn't possibly keep waiting at the Wood Dragon Pavilion, especially since Heaven and Earth Spiritual Water was inherently difficult to find.

Hearing this, Chen Yilong's brows furrowed slightly. After a moment of contemplation, he sincerely said, "Fellow Daoist Wang, I have an impolite request, and I hope you will grant it."

"An impolite request? What is it? Fellow Daoist Chen, please tell me."

"My two friends and I had arranged to hunt a third-tier mid-grade monster beast, the Tiger-head Shark," Chen Yilong explained. "However, one friend suddenly had an urgent matter and couldn't make it. I wish to ask Fellow Daoist Wang for assistance. Of course, I won't let you help for free. Here are twenty thousand spiritual stones, and after the task is completed, there will be another twenty thousand spiritual stones." Chen Yilong took out a green storage pearl and handed it to Wang Changsheng.

"A third-tier mid-grade monster beast?" Wang Changsheng asked, somewhat perplexed. "Fellow Daoist Chen, with your strength and another fellow Daoist, shouldn't dealing with a single third-tier mid-grade monster beast be an easy task?" Wang Changsheng was a bit confused; two Core Formation cultivators should have no problem dealing with a single third-tier mid-grade monster beast.

"My friend's cultivation isn't high, only at the second layer of Core Formation," Chen Yilong explained. "There are a total of two third-tier Tiger-head Sharks: one third-tier low-grade and one third-tier mid-grade. I have a set of third-tier formation flags, so Fellow Daoist Wang only needs to control the formation. My other fellow Daoist and I will be responsible for slaying the Tiger-head Sharks." Chen Yilong's tone was sincere. His wife had been severely wounded in a battle and needed the gallbladder of a third-tier Tiger-head Shark as a medicinal primer. Tiger-head Sharks were relatively rare monster beasts, especially third-tier ones. If he had any other choice, he wouldn't have sought Wang Changsheng's help.

"Senior Chen," Wang Ruyan asked suspiciously, "isn't your esteemed wife also a Core Formation cultivator? Why isn't she helping? Even if she's unable to go, surely you could find someone else to assist?"

"Madam Wang," Chen Yilong replied, "if I could find someone else, I wouldn't have asked Fellow Daoist Wang for help. Fellow Daoist Wang, you only need to control the formation; there's no great danger."

Wang Changsheng showed hesitation. Forty thousand spiritual stones was not a small sum for him. From Chen Yilong's own account, there didn't seem to be much danger; if Chen Yilong harbored ill intentions, he would have acted long ago and wouldn't need to intentionally fabricate an excuse.

"Since Fellow Daoist Chen invites me, I am willing to help," Wang Changsheng said. "However, forty thousand spiritual stones is too little. Besides that sum, I also want some monster beast materials. Furthermore, my wife will not accompany me; I will send her to a large market city." Wang Ruyan couldn't help in a Core Formation stage battle, so it was better to send her to a large market city. Additionally, Wang Changsheng was subtly warning Chen Yilong not to try any tricks.

"This..." Chen Yilong showed hesitation. Wood Dragon Pavilion was only a minor sect, and providing forty thousand spiritual stones as compensation for Wang Changsheng was already quite generous. After all, Wang Changsheng was only controlling the formation, and forty thousand spiritual stones was a considerable amount.

Seeing this, Wang Changsheng secretly nodded. If Chen Yilong had immediately agreed, he would have been suspicious, but Chen Yilong's hesitation allowed Wang Changsheng to feel a bit more at ease.

"Alright! Fellow Daoist Wang, I will allocate materials based on your contribution." Chen Yilong hesitated for a moment, then agreed.

"Where is the location?" Wang Changsheng asked. "Should I send my wife to a safe place first?"

"The Purple Algae Sea Domain," Chen Yilong explained. "We can go together, and your Daoist companion can stay in a large market city. We need to reach the Purple Algae Sea Domain as quickly as possible, as the Tiger-head Shark's movements are unpredictable. It was difficult enough to finally spot one there; if we delay too long, it might be hunted by other high-level cultivators."

Wang Changsheng didn't object and agreed. He naturally didn't mind earning a large sum of spiritual stones.

After Chen Yilong gave a few instructions to Chen Yue, he led Wang Changsheng and his wife out of the Wood Dragon Pavilion and flew into the sky. The Purple Algae Sea Domain was named for the abundant purple algae growing there. Purple algae possessed strong vitality, and many monster beasts liked to feed on it. Consequently, the Purple Algae Sea Domain had far richer monster beast resources than other sea domains.
