Sky Phoenix City, Sky Phoenix Pagoda.
The gates of the Sky Phoenix Pagoda opened, and a large number of cultivators emerged from within, including Wang Qingshan, Wang Qingling, and others.
At this auction, Wang Qingshan and his companions acquired many valuable items, including two second-grade Dao Pills and one Two-Element Gold Amber Pill.
The Nangong Immortal Clan offered a top-grade immortal artifact, the Lihuo Blade, which was successfully bid on by the Cao family. It wasn't that the Nangong Immortal Clan leaked information; rather, Wang Qingshan recognized the voice of the bidder as Cao Xingdian.
He found it a bit strange. Didn't Cao Yuanxing enter the venue? Why would Cao Xingdian be the one to make bids for a top-grade immortal artifact?
“Oh, Fellow Daoist Cao, where is Senior Cao?” Wang Qingshan quickly walked over to greet Cao Xingdian and other members of the Cao family.
Cao Yuanxing was not with Cao Xingdian's family members, which was puzzling.
“Ancestor Yuanxing had some matters to attend to and isn’t with us,” Cao Xingdian explained, adding that Cao Yuanxing had been summoned by Nangong Yuwei and had not yet returned.
Wang Qingshan didn't press the matter further. Just as he was about to speak, a clear and resonant phoenix cry echoed.
“All cultivators above Golden Immortal gather at Golden Phoenix Peak! We have launched an attack on the Hulan Tribe. Mobilize personnel to support the front lines!” A majestic male voice reverberated throughout Sky Phoenix City.
“An attack on the Hulan Tribe? Support the front lines?” Wang Qingshan and the other Golden Immortal cultivators were stunned. This was too sudden! There had been no warning whatsoever.
Wang Qingshan looked at Cao Xingdian, who also seemed bewildered. It appeared Cao Yuanxing had gone to join the battle, which explained why those Grand Unity Golden Immortals had suddenly vanished.
“Let’s go! We’re heading to Golden Phoenix Peak,” Wang Qingshan said.
They arrived at the top of Golden Phoenix Peak, where a vast golden stone plaza stretched out. Thousands of Golden Immortal cultivators, from various factions, had gathered there.
In the plaza, there was a massive blue magic array, embedded with numerous Immortal Essence Stones.
“What’s going on? Why are we suddenly attacking the Hulan Tribe?”“Right! We didn’t receive any prior notice. Brother Li, you’re well-informed, did you hear anything?”“I was just about to ask you! It’s really too sudden. The Hulan Tribe isn’t weak. The last battle only crippled them; this time, who knows how many will die fighting them!” The cultivators discussed animatedly, their expressions varied.
Some cultivators were brimming with excitement, eager to seize this opportunity to achieve great feats, while others looked troubled, worried about their own demise.
Soon after, a long blue rainbow descended from the sky, landing above the plaza and revealing a tall, stern-faced old man in blue robes, whose eyes conveyed authority without anger.
Judging by his aura, he was clearly a Grand Unity Golden Immortal.
“Greetings, Senior Nangong,” the cultivators bowed respectfully.
“I am Nangong Yulang, and I have good news for you: we have already captured the Hulan Mountain Range, and the Hulan Tribe's leader, Sun, has fled in disarray. Now for the bad news: the Chaos Beasts are very likely to retaliate. Our task is to rush to the front lines, block their counterattack, and earn great merits. Those who perform exceptionally will be rewarded with second-grade Dao Pills, Two-Element Gold Amber Pills, top-grade immortal artifacts, and even third-tier immortal talismans.” The blue-robed elder spoke slowly.
Upon hearing this, many cultivators’ eyes lit up with fervor.
“Everyone must follow orders. Those who disobey will be executed. Those who retreat in battle will be executed. Those who show cowardice will be executed. Those who achieve great merits will be rewarded. Those who bravely slay the enemy will be rewarded. Now, follow me to the front lines!” After saying this, Nangong Yulang flew onto the magic array, and the cultivators quickly followed.
Nangong Yulang cast a spell into the array. The array vibrated violently, and a dazzling blue light shot skyward, engulfing everyone.
When the blue light dissipated, Wang Qingshan and the others were gone.
In the Zalanding Mountain Range, the territory of the Zalanding Tribe, a vast, massive city could be seen deep within the mountains. Its plaque bore the four golden characters: “Zalanding City.”
This was the Zalanding Tribe’s stronghold, where most of its high-ranking members resided. Inside the city, numerous Chaos Beasts could be seen, along with some Pseudo-Immortals, all serving the Zalanding Tribe.
In a colossal valley surrounded by mountains on three sides, a graceful young woman in a golden dress was reporting to an eight-colored Chaos Beast that resembled an ape.
The eight-colored Chaos Beast was Yuan, the leader of the Zalanding Tribe, and a late-stage Grand Unity Golden Immortal.
“Lord Yuan, another individual has now cultivated into a peak True Spirit,” the young woman in the golden dress reported.
Chen Xin, a late-stage Golden Immortal.
Chaos Beasts cultivated Pseudo-Immortals to serve as their vanguards and cannon fodder. Most Pseudo-Immortals were implanted with restrictions, ensuring death if they betrayed the Chaos Beasts.
“Well done. I will credit you for this. I hope they prove useful during the next wave of Chaos Beasts,” Yuan praised.
“All thanks to your leadership, Lord Yuan,” Chen Xin replied, her face full of flattery.
A loud alarm blared, echoing throughout Zalanding City.
“What’s happening? An enemy attack?” Yuan wondered.
A seven-colored Chaos Beast resembling a bat flew over and said, “Lord Yuan, Lord Sun of the Hulan Tribe has arrived. He says he has an important matter to discuss with you in person.”
“Bring him in! Chen Xin, you may withdraw.” Yuan commanded.
Chen Xin acknowledged, bowed, and retreated.
The seven-colored Chaos Beast flew out, and not long after, it returned with the severely wounded Sun.
After years of recuperation, the Hulan Tribe had gained another Grand Unity Golden Immortal, a seven-colored one. However, Nangong Yuexue and over a dozen other Grand Unity Golden Immortals, along with a Yellow-grade Immortal Vessel, launched an attack. The seven-colored Chaos Beast perished, and Sun was gravely injured, barely fighting his way out of the encirclement.
The Hulan Tribe’s territory had already been seized by the Human Race, so Sun hurried to the Zalanding Tribe to seek aid.
“What happened? With your strength, how did you end up in such a sorry state?” Yuan’s tone held a hint of surprise.
“The Nangong Immortal Clan led the attack on the Hulan Mountain Range, with over a dozen Grand Unity Golden Immortals and a Yellow-grade Immortal Vessel. I barely fought my way out of the encirclement. Yuan, your tribe's strength is not weak. Help me reclaim the Hulan Mountain Range, and I can cede a quarter of our territory to you.” Sun said.
Chaos Beast tribes also prioritized their own interests; without a benefit, other tribes wouldn't assist.
“What? A Yellow-grade Immortal Vessel and over a dozen Grand Unity Golden Immortals?” Yuan exclaimed in surprise.
The Nangong Immortal Clan’s direct involvement changed the nature of the situation.
“With your tribe's strength, reclaiming the Hulan Mountain Range shouldn’t be a problem; a Yellow-grade Immortal Vessel is nothing. How about this: I’ll make another concession. If we succeed, I’ll cede a third of our territory to you.” Sun raised his offer.
“It’s not that I don’t want to help, but this matter is too significant. I need to report it to the Chahar Tribe. Who knows if the Nangong Immortal Clan is initiating an all-out war or just a localized conflict?” Yuan said.
The nature and scale of a localized conflict differ greatly from an all-out war. If it were an action by the Cao family, Huoyue Clan, Five Immortal Sects, or similar forces, it would be one thing. But with the Nangong Immortal Clan involved, the situation is entirely different.
It couldn’t possibly mobilize its entire tribe based on a mere verbal promise.
“Very well! You must act quickly. If our Hulan Tribe is destroyed, your Zalanding Tribe will directly face the threat of the Immortals.” Sun said.
“I know. You can stay here for now. I’ll send someone to notify the Chahar Tribe. Bat, take him to rest.” Yuan instructed.
Bat led Sun away. Yuan then summoned Chen Xin and instructed her to use the large-scale Immortal Transmission Array to notify the Chahar Tribe.
Chaos Beasts couldn’t set up arrays, refine artifacts, or concoct pills, but Immortals could. This was precisely why Chaos Beasts cultivated Pseudo-Immortals.
Traveling from the Zalanding Mountain Range to the Chahar Tribe was too far. Using a large-scale Immortal Transmission Array would be much more convenient and efficient.
