Chapter 370: Wang Qingzhi Gets Married

"Your son, Wang Qingyang, greets Father," Wang Qingyang said obediently.

Wang Changsheng sighed softly. His third son having no spiritual root was unexpected.

He asked Wang Qingyang to extend his right hand to check his spiritual root.

"Four spiritual roots!"

Wang Changsheng showed no change in expression, though he felt a hint of disappointment. He gently patted Wang Qingyang's shoulder and encouraged him, "You must cultivate diligently. It would be best to learn a craft, as it will make your path to immortality easier in the future." With Wang Qingyang's four-spiritual-root aptitude, it would be truly difficult to help him establish his foundation if he didn't learn a craft.

Hearing this, Wang Qingyang agreed but still felt a sense of loss. He knew his aptitude was poor, and even his father didn't have high hopes for him. Many elders had told him similar things before.

"Father, Grandfather and Grandmother don't have much time left," Wang Qingzhi said, kneeling down with red eyes. "Your son wishes to marry soon so they can hold their great-grandson. Please grant my wish." He truly wasn't thinking only of himself. Wang Mingyuan and Liu Qing'er didn't have much time left and mostly stayed indoors. Liu Qing'er had always yearned to hold a great-grandson, and he didn't want his grandmother to leave the world with regrets.

"You two go back and rest first. I'll go see your grandparents. Qingyang, come with me."

Wang Changsheng took Wang Qingyang to Wang Mingyuan's residence. Inside, Wang Changyue was conversing with Wang Mingyuan and Liu Qing'er. They were over a hundred years old, with completely white hair and wrinkled faces, but their complexions were still good.

"Oh, Ninth Brother, you've emerged from seclusion! That's wonderful. Has Sister-in-law also come out?" Wang Changsheng was her elder brother, but the address followed the family's generational seniority. Wang Changyue was overjoyed. She knew her parents had always longed to hold a great-grandchild, but since Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan had not emerged from seclusion, she hadn't felt it appropriate to let Wang Qingzhi marry.

"Ruyan hasn't come out yet. Father, Mother, how are you both doing?" Wang Changsheng walked to the side of the bed and asked with concern.

"I'm fine. You should go do what you need to do," Wang Mingyuan waved his hand, instructing him. Wang Changsheng carefully noticed that Wang Mingyuan's tone was weak, and while his complexion was still acceptable, he was clearly at the end of his tether. It seemed they only had a few years of life left and could pass away at any moment.

Wang Changsheng forced a smile and said, "Father, Qingzhi has established his foundation. I'm here to discuss his marriage with you. After all, he is your grandson, so I must consult you on this matter." He didn't want his parents to leave the world with regrets; he wanted them to hold their great-grandson as soon as possible. Hearing this, Wang Mingyuan and Liu Qing'er immediately became interested.

Wang Changsheng chatted with them for over half an hour before leaving with Wang Changyue.

"Sister-in-law hasn't emerged from seclusion yet. Should we wait a bit longer? It wouldn't be right for Qingzhi to marry without her present."

Wang Changsheng shook his head and said with a serious expression, "We won't wait. After marriage, it takes at least ten months to have a child. Look at Father and Mother's condition; how much longer can they last? They want to hold a great-grandson and see four generations under one roof. This request isn't excessive, and I can fulfill it."

"Oh, by the way, Uncle Mingren returned five years ago and brought you a hundred catties of undiluted Profound Ice Cold Water. I've been keeping it safe for you. Since you've come out of seclusion, I'll return it to its rightful owner." Wang Changyue took out a blue porcelain bottle and handed it to Wang Changsheng.

Wang Changsheng was surprised and asked, "Uncle Mingren returned? Isn't he at Taiyi Immortal Sect? What did he say when he came back?" Wang Changyue recounted the events, including Wang Mingren's journey to the South Sea for training.

"So that's what happened. Fortunately, Twenty-first Uncle and Eldest Brother are safe and sound. But looking at the situation, they won't be returning anytime soon. Let them be!"

"What are you two siblings talking about?" Wang Ruyan walked over, a broad smile on her face. After twelve years in seclusion, she had successfully advanced to the fifth level of Foundation Establishment. She had originally intended to attempt the sixth level, but after two unsuccessful tries, she gave up.

"My dear wife, you've emerged from seclusion? That's wonderful!" Wang Changsheng was overjoyed. It was even better that Wang Ruyan had also emerged from seclusion. He recounted the events, and Wang Ruyan naturally had no objections.

"Who is he?" Wang Ruyan looked at Wang Qingyang beside Wang Changsheng, her face showing confusion. After twelve years in seclusion, she truly didn't know which son this was.

"This is Wang Qingyang, our youngest son. Our third son had no spiritual root and has already been sent to the secular world, named Wang Pingan, hoping he lives a peaceful life."

"Good boy, come here to Mother." Wang Ruyan looked at Wang Qingyang with deep affection. Before her seclusion, her son was still an infant; when she emerged, he was already a teenager. As a mother, she felt a certain degree of guilt. Wang Qingyang honestly walked to Wang Ruyan's side. Wang Ruyan asked him about his daily life with concern, and Wang Qingyang answered truthfully.

After Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan emerged from seclusion, Wang Qingzhi's marriage was put on the agenda. The next day, a group of Wang family cultivators left Wangjiapu to deliver invitations, setting the wedding for three months later. Wang Yaolong dispatched a large number of people to arrange decorations and procure supplies, ensuring the wedding would be grand and lively.

Wang Changsheng usually taught Wang Qingjing how to refine second-tier puppet beasts. Wang Qingjing was at the first level of Foundation Establishment and could already refine low-grade second-tier puppet beasts, though her success rate was not high. Wang Ruyan kept Wang Qingyang by her side almost constantly, wanting to make up for the twelve years of maternal love he had missed.

Three months later, in the assembly hall, numerous guests stood on both sides.

"First, a bow to Heaven and Earth; second, a bow to the honored elders; then, bows between husband and wife. The ceremony is complete."

Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan sat in the main seats. Wang Qingzhi, accompanied by Qi Shanshan, offered tea to Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan. After drinking the daughter-in-law's tea, Wang Changsheng offered a few words of encouragement and presented them with a set of magical artifacts as a wedding gift. Wang Ruyan, in turn, gave them a low-grade second-tier flying talismanic weapon. Seeing Wang Qingzhi marry, Wang Mingyuan and Liu Qing'er were both very happy, their faces beaming with smiles.

"Thank you, fellow Daoists, for coming to congratulate my unworthy son. Please enjoy the food and drink, and bear with us if our hospitality falls short." Wang Changsheng offered some polite remarks, then announced the feast had begun. The guests took their seats and began to eat and drink.

Wang Shuming and his wife personally came to offer congratulations. Wang Changxue and Su Cheng also arrived. Su Bingbing had already been sent to Taiyi Immortal Sect and successfully joined it. As the groom, Wang Qingzhi received many toasts and accepted them all, his face full of smiles. Wang Yaolong arranged for some clan members to help Wang Qingzhi deflect toasts; otherwise, he would have been drunk long ago.

"Ninth Brother, has Eldest Brother not returned yet?" Wang Changxue took a bite of food and asked casually.

"No, Eldest Brother and Twenty-first Uncle are still in Taiyuan Market. We don't know when they'll return. They're teamed up with disciples from Taiyi Immortal Sect to hunt demonic beasts, so there shouldn't be any major issues."

Wang Changxue nodded, then changed her tone and asked, "Ninth Brother, when did Uncle Mingren join Taiyi Immortal Sect? If the patriarch hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known!" Wang Changsheng smiled faintly and said, "Second Sister, you've been busy teaching Bingbing, so I forgot to tell you about this."

As a married woman, Wang Changxue followed her husband, Su Cheng, and her life's focus was on the Hundred Spirits Sect. Many family matters were not told to her. Even after Wang Ruyan joined, she, too, wasn't informed of all family affairs. However, Wang Changxue felt somewhat dissatisfied; if she had known Wang Mingren had joined Taiyi Immortal Sect, she could have sought his help, and Su Bingbing might have joined Taiyi Immortal Sect sooner.
