At the Peak of the Green Lotus
Xuanyang Realm, Xuanling Continent.
Green Lotus Island, Green Lotus Peak.
Wang Changsheng sat in a green stone pavilion. Wang Chuanlin stood beside him, holding a page with several mysterious characters.
“Are you sure these are Immortal characters?” Wang Changsheng asked, frowning. After the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron withstood the final Nine Heavens Divine Lightning, mysterious characters appeared inside its walls. Upon returning to Green Lotus Island, Wang Changsheng copied some of these characters onto paper and gave them to Wang Chuanlin for examination.
“Yes, I’m certain,” Wang Chuanlin replied truthfully. “These are not foreign characters. Among the ancient texts you gave me, one describes Immortal characters. I recognize a few, though their order seems incorrect.” Wang Changsheng had eliminated Yi Xin and other Lizard Race remnants, acquiring numerous cultivation resources, including a collection of ancient texts, which he had tasked Wang Chuanlin with organizing.
Wang Changsheng took out a thick blue book and handed it to Wang Chuanlin, saying, “See how many you recognize.” He hadn’t expected Wang Chuanlin to recognize these characters, hoping he might be able to decipher them.
Wang Chuanlin took the book, examined it carefully, and after a short while, said, “I only recognize some of the words.”
“Which ones?” Wang Changsheng pressed.
Wang Chuanlin opened the book, pointed to two characters on a certain page, and identified them: “This is ‘Divine Ability,’ this is ‘Nascent Soul Awakening,’ and this is ‘Law.’” In total, he recognized fifteen characters, specifically identifying concepts such as ‘Divine Ability,’ ‘Nascent Soul Awakening,’ ‘Law,’ ‘Power,’ ‘Grand Unity,’ ‘Seed,’ and ‘Jade Marrow.’ He did not recognize any other characters.
Wang Changsheng furrowed his brow. Based on the arrangement of these characters, it resembled a secret art. “This must not be spread externally,” he instructed. “You may go now and attend to your duties. If you come across any ancient texts containing Immortal characters, be sure to bring them to me for your review.”
“Nascent Soul Awakening! Law! Grand Unity!” Wang Changsheng murmured to himself. A secret art involving laws was undoubtedly extraordinary. Could it be a cultivation method for the Spirit Realm? He had possessed the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron for many years but had never discovered these characters on its walls. They only appeared after it withstood a Nine Heavens Divine Lightning bolt.
When he was in the lower realm, Wang Changsheng had speculated that the characters “Green Lotus” were engraved, as he recognized them, whereas the characters “Creation Cauldron” were written in Golden Tadpole Script. Now, it seemed the characters “Green Lotus” might not have been engraved. Perhaps they simply hadn't undergone significant changes, making them easy to recognize. If they were manually engraved, why would someone engrave “Green Lotus”? Wang Changsheng wouldn't intentionally engrave words on a treasure he acquired, nor would he use two different scripts to engrave a name on a treasure he forged.
The Green Lotus Creation Cauldron could withstand Nine Heavens Divine Lightning without a scratch. To engrave characters on it would require at least a Profound Sky Treasure. A high-grade Celestial Spirit Treasure would be out of the question. This raised a question: Why engrave characters on the walls of the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron? Couldn't they be recorded on jade slips or other treasures? Was it like the Heavenly Void Jade Book, where Immortals liked to record secret arts on treasures? Or perhaps, this was a treasure of a major power, and the characters on its walls were a particularly potent secret art, visible only when specific conditions were met. Wang Changsheng pondered this. He couldn't rule out the possibility. The high-grade cultivation techniques collected by the Wang family were all recorded on specific treasures. The higher the grade of the technique, the more precious the treasure, and ordinary clan members had no right to view them.
Wang Changsheng took out a blue communication disk, cast a spell, and Wang Qingcheng's voice chimed: “Father, Yuejiao’s first grand heavenly tribulation has descended. She is undergoing it now.”
“Understood. I’m on my way.” Wang Changsheng replied, then left Green Lotus Island and headed to Purple Crystal Island.
Wang Changsheng had advanced to the Mahayana stage several decades ago, but the Wang family had not publicized this fact. He had a plan: not spreading the news could yield greater benefits. Therefore, for now, he had only sent someone to inform Chen Yueying. Chen Yueying was in secluded cultivation and was currently unaware of this news.
Rumbling thunder echoed from high above. Silver lightning bolts struck down, each thicker than the last, turning the sky an silvery-white. Time passed slowly, the sound of thunder ceaseless. After a short while, the thunderclouds churned violently, still dozens of feet in size.
In a small valley surrounded by mountains on three sides, Sun Yuejiao stood on smoking black ground, her face slightly pale. A gleaming red treasure umbrella floated above her head, and an earthy-yellow light barrier enveloped her, forming a second layer of defense. Sun Yuejiao held a flickering yellow formation plate. A thick silver lightning bolt struck the earthy-yellow light barrier, causing it to ripple slightly. Soon, the second lightning tribulation struck, followed immediately by the third. When the fifth lightning tribulation struck, blinding silver lightning engulfed Sun Yuejiao’s figure. The thunderclouds churned violently, transforming into a massive, silver lightning python, as thick as a waist, which plunged down from high in the sky with great speed.
A small green cauldron flew out from the silver lightning, moving to meet the silver lightning python. Wang Changsheng's gaze was serious, fixed intently on the small green cauldron. Just then, the small green cauldron flew towards Wang Changsheng, completely ignoring the silver lightning python. The small green cauldron landed before Wang Changsheng. A green lotus flower was visible on its body—it was precisely the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron.
“It seems others cannot use it,” Wang Changsheng murmured to himself. He had intended to conduct an experiment: to give the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron to Sun Yuejiao, planning for her to use it to withstand the final lightning tribulation. If other clan members could use the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron to resist lightning tribulations, the Wang family would no longer have to worry about tribulation-defying treasures. Perhaps the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron, by absorbing the lightning, could even undergo other transformations. However, the outcome disappointed Wang Changsheng. Sun Yuejiao could not use the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron. It seemed to possess sentience, automatically flying towards Wang Changsheng, who had not manipulated it. Thus, apart from Wang Changsheng, no other clan member could use the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron, meaning they still had to seek high-grade tribulation materials or treasures for their tribulations. Wang Changsheng sighed softly, put away the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron, and left Purple Crystal Island. With a seventh-tier formation and a mid-grade Celestial Spirit Treasure, Sun Yuejiao’s passage through her first grand heavenly tribulation would not be an issue.
Wang Changsheng entered a secret chamber. Inside, a formation spanning dozens of feet filled the room. He placed the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron above the formation and took out a fist-sized golden ore with some brownish bloodstains on its surface. He cast a spell into the formation, causing its runes to glow brightly. An invisible force lifted the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron. The Green Lotus Creation Cauldron had withstood a Nine Heavens Divine Lightning bolt, and characters had appeared on its walls. Perhaps this had unlocked new functions, and he wanted to test it.
Wang Changsheng proceeded to another secret chamber and sat down cross-legged. Having advanced to the Mahayana stage, Wang Changsheng could now cultivate new divine abilities. He took out a blue glowing magic disk, cast a spell, and Wang Ruyan’s voice chimed: “Husband, Martial Aunt Chen has arrived.”
As Wang Ruyan had not yet advanced to the Mahayana stage, it was natural for her to address Chen Yueying as Martial Aunt.
