Chapter 224: Migration

The four sects of Chu State, along with the three sects of Medicine King Valley, invaded Wei State, making it impossible to remain on Qinglian Mountain.

With over two hundred family members, the entire clan was too large, making relocation extremely difficult. Wang Changsheng decided to divide the clan into three groups. Young children would be escorted by Wang Mingzhong and Wang Changxue to Qingyue Market City, a well-defended market jointly established by five sects. Wang Changsheng himself would escort some of the young adults to the Hundred Spirits Sect. The remaining women, children, and elderly, broken into smaller groups, would hide in the mortal realm under Wang Changfeng's care. Wang Changsheng's proposal was approved by Wang Mingzhong and Wang Changfeng.

After a simple memorial for the deceased clan members, everyone began packing their belongings, preparing to evacuate. Wang Mingyuan and Liu Qing'er concealed themselves in the mortal realm. Wang Changyue accompanied Wang Changsheng to the Hundred Spirits Sect, while Wang Qingshan and the other young children followed Wang Mingzhong and Wang Changxue to Qingyue Market City. This plan was the most secure, ensuring that even if one group encountered problems, the Wang family would not face extinction.

Over two months later, Wang Changsheng and his group arrived at the Hundred Spirits Sect. After verifying their identities, Su Cheng settled the Wang family members in two quiet courtyards, advising them not to wander off. A total of sixty-seven young adults took up residence at the Hundred Spirits Sect.

Wang Changyue had not yet recovered from the grief of losing her loved ones. She had little appetite, grew thinner by the day, and her once adorable face showed no trace of a smile.

“Changyue, you can’t go on like this. What if you harm your health? Listen to me, eat more. This is a Grade 2 spirit meal I had Fellow Daoist Su arrange for someone to make, and your favorite dessert too.” Wang Changsheng said with concern, gesturing to the table laden with delicacies.

“I can’t eat. Whenever I close my eyes now, I see Grandfather’s tragic death. Grandfather, Eighth Uncle, Eldest Uncle – they’re all dead. They died so horribly.” Wang Changyue said, her eyes red and face streaked with tears.

Wang Changsheng wiped away Wang Changyue’s tears and comforted her, “They won’t die in vain. If I get the chance, I will eradicate the Zhao family and avenge them. If you collapse, how will you avenge them?”

“I’ll eat! I must avenge Grandfather and the others, Big Brother. I must become the strongest formation master to protect our clan members.” Wang Changyue wiped her tears, a serious expression appearing on her chubby cheeks.

Wang Changsheng smiled faintly and said, “I believe in you. If you become the strongest formation master, Grandfather will rest in peace.”

Only a few days of peace had passed when Su Cheng came calling. After Wu Zifeng’s death, Su Cheng had been taken in as a disciple by Guang Dongren. Now, many of the Hundred Spirits Sect’s affairs were handled by him.

“Fellow Daoist Wang, Chu State, Han State, and Tang State are simultaneously invading our Wei State. By my master’s command, you, along with Junior Brother Ye, Junior Brother Zhao, and Junior Sister Wang, are to infiltrate Tang State. Your mission is to harass their rear, plunder resources, and for the specifics, just follow Junior Brother Ye’s lead.”

“How many Qi Refining cultivators should we bring?”

Su Cheng shook his head and replied, “You’re operating deep behind enemy lines; bringing Qi Refining cultivators would only be a burden. Don’t worry! While you’re away, I will look after your clan members. As long as the Hundred Spirits Sect stands, they will be safe – my master said so.”

The Wang family now had five Foundation Establishment cultivators and had done much for the Hundred Spirits Sect. Guang Dongren would naturally treat the Wang family well, setting an example for others. Wang Changsheng nodded. He suddenly recalled something and asked, “By the way, Fellow Daoist Su, what’s the situation in Ningzhou? How are my brother-in-law and sister doing?” Huang Delin had married Wang Changting, making the Huang family in-laws to the Wang family. Naturally, Wang Changsheng did not want anything to happen to them.

“The Huang family was attacked by the Lin family, formerly of Zhaojialing, but Fellow Daoist Huang is quite strong and managed to break through the encirclement. Your brother-in-law and sister are both fine; they sent someone to report their safety. Some of their young adults are staying with us at the Hundred Spirits Sect, but your sister and brother-in-law themselves are not here. If you wish to visit the Huang family members, I can accompany you.” Su Cheng had attended Huang Delin and Wang Changting’s wedding.

“Never mind, the mission is more important. I’ll just give a few instructions to my clan members, and then we’ll set off.” After giving some instructions to Wang Changyue and others, Wang Changsheng departed with Ye Tong and the other two.

Shangdang Commandery, originally one of Xiqi’s sixty-five commanderies, now belonged to the Wind-Fire Sect after Tang State conquered Xiqi. Yongzhou, where Shangdang Commandery was located, fell under its jurisdiction. Shangdang Commandery housed a medium-sized Grade 2 Golden Adamantite Jade mine. Golden Adamantite Jade was an excellent material for refining defensive magical artifacts. The Wind-Fire Sect had dispatched ten Foundation Establishment cultivators and thirty Qi Refining cultivators to guard it. After Tang State invaded Wei State, neighboring countries began to stir, causing the Wind-Fire Sect to redeploy five Foundation Establishment cultivators, leaving five behind. Liu Yang, with the highest cultivation at the sixth level of Foundation Establishment, was responsible for managing this outpost. Every six months, the Wind-Fire Sect would send personnel to escort the mined Golden Adamantite Jade ore back to the sect. With only half a month left until the next escort, Liu Yang specifically entered the mine to inspect it and ensure his subordinates were not slacking off.

No sooner had he emerged from the mine than a deafening blast echoed, and the ground shook violently.

“No good! Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Come out and face them with me!” Liu Yang’s expression changed, and he urgently shouted. He had personally led the team that captured this Golden Adamantite Jade mine.

Almost simultaneously with Liu Yang’s shouts, a thick yellow light barrier materialized, enveloping the entire mine. Over a dozen Wind-Fire Sect disciples rushed out from their residences. A giant golden sphere covered in barbs descended from the sky, crashing heavily onto the yellow light barrier, causing the ground to shake violently. Eight Grade 2 flying puppet beasts soared above the yellow light barrier, either spewing crimson fire blades or azure light swords, striking the barrier. Explosions echoed continuously, and flames billowed. A black orb and two black talismans shot forth, erupting with blinding light. With several earth-shattering roars, a vast expanse of black lightning engulfed the entire yellow light barrier. The power of the low-grade magical artifact, Profound Lightning Orb, and the two Grade 2 talismans, Profound Yin Lightning Talismans, was immense. After the lightning dissipated, the yellow light barrier’s glow dimmed. A golden sphere then struck the barrier again, making its light fade even further. Over a dozen shimmering magical artifacts flew in, eagerly striking the yellow light barrier, which instantly shattered. Unsurprisingly, the attackers of this Golden Adamantite Jade mine were the four individuals: Wang Changsheng, Ye Tong, Wang Changxue, and Zhao Long. Wang Changsheng was at the fourth level of Foundation Establishment, Ye Tong at the fifth, Wang Changxue at the second, and Zhao Long at the third. Working in perfect coordination, they breached the mine’s formation in less than five breaths. Once the formation broke, the eight flying puppet beasts either spewed crimson fire blades or azure light swords, cutting down towards the Wind-Fire Sect disciples below.

Liu Yang secretly cursed. If there were only four Foundation Establishment cultivators, he wouldn’t be afraid, but with the addition of eight Grade 2 flying puppet beasts, his fighting spirit waned significantly. He carried the Golden Adamantite Jade ore extracted over the past six months. As long as he returned this batch of ore to the Wind-Fire Sect, the sect should not severely punish him. Having clarified this in his mind, Liu Yang activated an azure talisman, which transformed into an azure hurricane over ten zhang tall, sweeping towards the four attackers. Azure light swords and crimson fire blades struck the azure hurricane, flickering wildly before dissipating. Seizing this opportunity, Liu Yang shouted, “Retreat quickly! Return to the sect and report!” Having said this, he hastily crushed a Wood Escape Talisman, transforming into faint azure light and disappearing. The other Foundation Establishment cultivators also tried to escape, but the eight puppet beasts had already pounced, leaving them no time to flee.

“Fellow Daoist Ye, you handle these people; I’ll go after that fellow.” Liu Yang had the highest cultivation and most likely carried the extracted Golden Adamantite Jade ore. This was a significant prize, and Wang Changsheng naturally wouldn’t let him escape.
