Song Yunxiang's speed was incredibly fast. After flying several hundred miles, a dazzling red light appeared on the distant horizon, moving with great swiftness.
Not long after, the red light stopped, revealing a giant crane with a wingspan of over ten zhang. Its head was remarkably small. Four men and one woman stood on the red crane's back, led by a tall and upright young man in red robes. He had sword-like eyebrows and bright, piercing eyes, and an astonishing aura of spiritual pressure emanated from his body.
This was Song Tianming, an elite disciple of the Song family, who had reached the Great Perfection stage of Soul Transformation.
“Fifth Uncle, are you alright?” Song Tianming asked, somewhat nervously, upon seeing the heavily wounded Song Yunxiang.
“I’m fine,” Song Yunxiang replied, a look of lingering fear on his face. “Thanks to the people from Zhenhai Palace who intervened, otherwise I would have been in grave danger this time.” The Soul Extinguishing Mirror was notoriously powerful; he would not have wanted to use such a treasure if the Bat Clan had not been so formidable.
“Zhenhai Palace?” Song Tianming sighed. “It seems we won't be able to keep the Soul Extinguishing Mirror. Let’s head back first!” He knew that once news of the Song family possessing the Soul Extinguishing Mirror spread, given its fame, they certainly wouldn't be able to hold onto it. Offering it to the Divine Weapons Sect would at least secure them a substantial amount of cultivation resources in exchange.
Song Yunxiang nodded and flew onto the red giant crane's back.
The red giant crane let out a sharp cry, its enormous wings beating lightly as it soared into the sky, quickly disappearing into the horizon.
Golden Toad Island was originally the lair of a sixth-rank Jade-eyed Golden Toad. Later, high-ranking cultivators from the Divine Weapons Sect eliminated the toad, and the island was consequently renamed Golden Toad Island.
Golden Toad Island is controlled by the Divine Weapons Sect. Its geographical location is unique: it borders the territory of the Multi-eyed Race to the east, the Beastmen to the west, and the Bat Clan to the south. This unique position means that the island often sees exotic goods from these different races. Additionally, the abundant demon beast resources in the sea near Golden Toad Island attract a large number of cultivators, contributing to the island's prosperity.
A beam of blue light appeared on the distant horizon, swiftly flying towards Golden Toad Island.
As the blue light approached within a hundred miles of Golden Toad Island, its speed suddenly slowed. The light receded, revealing a shimmering blue flying boat. Wang Changsheng and over twenty other cultivators stood on board, all collectively letting out a sigh of relief.
“Is this Golden Toad Island?” Wang Changsheng muttered to himself, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
He had thought Profound Moon Island was large, but Golden Toad Island was even bigger. The island was covered in dense vegetation, with a towering emerald green peak rising into the clouds at its center. Flat land surrounded the peak, and a massive blue city enveloped more than half of the island. Inside the city, buildings of varying heights were visible, along with numerous figures moving about.
Both Profound Moon Island and Golden Toad Island were much larger than the headquarters of the Zhenhai Sect, while the Zhenhai Palace headquarters was even larger than Golden Toad Island.
“Golden Toad Island's geographical location is quite special, with other races frequenting it. While it's safe on the island itself, venturing outside the market is a different story. Make sure none of you leave the market on your own, understand?” Chen Xin instructed the Nascent Soul stage disciples, implicitly including Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan in his warning.
“Yes, Senior Martial Uncle Chen,” the disciples replied in unison.
Chen Xin activated a spell, and the blue flying boat slowly flew towards Golden Toad Island.
Soon after, they arrived at the city gate of the massive blue city. A gilded plaque hung above the gate, bearing the three silver characters: 'Golden Toad City'.
Wang Changsheng and his group walked confidently into Golden Toad City, facing no obstruction.
The streets were wide and clean, with orderly rows of shops on either side. Unlike Profound Moon Island, Wang Changsheng saw not only humans but also two giants, each about ten feet tall. Their heads had over a dozen eyes, varying in number and position.
“Multi-eyed Race!” Wang Changsheng recognized the giants. Logically, the Multi-eyed Race and humans did not have a good relationship, having fought numerous wars. For members of the Multi-eyed Race to dare appear in a human-run market, their audacity was certainly considerable.
Besides the Multi-eyed Race, Wang Changsheng also spotted several cultivators with beast heads and human bodies — these were Beastmen.
Beastmen were somewhat similar to Half-demons. The difference was that Beastmen were born half-human, half-beast and retained their original form even at higher cultivation stages, whereas Half-demons could fully transform into human form upon reaching high cultivation. A common trait shared by both Beastmen and Half-demons was their ability to transform into monstrous beast forms.
Compared to humans, Beastmen were merely a minor race and had to ally with other smaller races to contend with humanity.
About a quarter of an hour later, the group arrived at the entrance of a nine-story golden pavilion. A plaque above the entrance bore the three silver characters: 'Tianhai Pavilion'.
This was a shop opened by the Zhenhai Sect, with a relatively wide range of business.
“You are free to move around, just don't leave the market without permission,” Chen Xin instructed. He then strode into Tianhai Pavilion, followed quickly by Wang Changsheng and the other three. The Nascent Soul cultivators dispersed to explore.
Upon reaching the ninth floor, Wang Changsheng saw a fair-faced middle-aged man with a round face, small eyes, sparse hair, and a corpulent build.
This was Cai Yunfeng, a cultivator at the Mid-Void Refinement stage.
“Disciples greet Senior Martial Uncle Cai,” Chen Xin and the other four saluted in unison.
“Why are you so late? Did something happen on the way?” Cai Yunfeng asked, frowning.
“Senior Martial Uncle Cai, we encountered the Bat Clan on our journey, which caused the delay,” Chen Xin explained, recounting the entire incident without any concealment.
“The Soul Extinguishing Mirror! This rare treasure actually fell into the hands of the Song family. They’re quite fortunate,” Cai Yunfeng murmured, a thoughtful expression on his face. Remembering something, he continued, “You’ve all worked hard. This matter must not be spread. I will report it. You’ve had a long journey, so rest up in the market for now. I’ll have a mission for you later.”
“Yes, Senior Martial Uncle Cai,” Chen Xin and the other four replied in unison, their expressions respectful.
Cai Yunfeng’s gaze fell upon Wang Changsheng, and he nodded in approval. “Nephew Wang, you’ve earned merit. I will report this and request a reward for you. This place is different from Profound Moon Island. No matter how displeased you are with other races, you are not permitted to engage in combat within the market. Understand?”
“Yes, Senior Martial Uncle Cai,” Wang Changsheng replied. He was not so foolish as to attack other races in the market.
Cai Yunfeng gave a few more instructions before dismissing them.
Upon leaving Tianhai Pavilion, Chen Xin and the other four silently agreed to part ways and attend to their own affairs.
The goods in the shops were varied and numerous, and Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan could only recognize a fraction of them, which greatly broadened their horizons.
As an artifact refiner, Wang Changsheng was more interested in artifact refining materials.
About a quarter of an hour later, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan appeared in a large bluestone square. Many cultivators had set up stalls there, displaying a vast array of varied and numerous goods.
Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan walked around, browsing, to see if they could find any hidden gems.
Regrettably, they circled the area but found no hidden gems. This was quite normal, as finding such items entirely depended on luck.
