Chapter 1442: Surprising Encounter with a Different Tribe

A colossal blue tornado swept rapidly over a range of rolling black mountains. Behind it, a streak of blue light pursued relentlessly.

The blue light revealed a shirtless middle-aged man, his lower body wrapped in a pale blue animal hide, and several blue scales dotting his face. His gaze was grim; he had been chasing for so long but still hadn't caught up.

Inside the blue tornado, Wang Huaxing's face was pale, indicating severe depletion of his magical energy.

At his current speed, it was only a matter of time before they were caught.

Wang Qingqing's brows furrowed. She pulled a pale blue orb from her pocket, which shimmered with spiritual light.

“Someone from the clan is coming,” she murmured. Wang Qingqing felt a surge of joy, yet her brow remained furrowed. Under normal circumstances, she would have been ecstatic, but with a Nascent Soul stage outsider relentlessly pursuing them, Wang Qingqing found it hard to be happy.

From behind them, an eerie hissing sound echoed. Thousands of colossal blue pythons, as thick as water vats, lunged from behind, their gaping maws snapping at the blue tornado.

With a loud whoosh, a vast barrage of ten-zhang-long blue wind blades erupted from the blue tornado, obscuring the sky as they flew to meet the blue pythons.

Boom! Following a series of explosions, hundreds of blue pythons were shredded by the dense blue wind blades, disintegrating into a sky full of black hair. A gust of wind then swept through, and the black hair vanished.

There were simply too many blue pythons. Some opened their gaping maws and each spat out a cluster of blue light. These dense blue lights struck the blue tornado, but like mud sinking into the sea, they all vanished without a trace.

A loud whistling sound erupted, and the blue tornado's speed more than doubled. After a few flashes, it was already several miles away.

The blue lights spat out by the blue pythons struck the mountain hollows, creating continuous roars. Wherever the blue lights hit, colossal craters over ten zhang wide instantly exploded into existence.

The booming continued, but the blue tornado was too fast, and the middle-aged man couldn't catch up.

If they were to fight head-on, he could defeat Wang Qingqing and Wang Huaxing in a single exchange. However, since they kept fleeing, the middle-aged man remained unable to catch them.

He was, after all, a Nascent Soul stage cultivator, so catching them was only a matter of time. He had originally intended to capture them alive, but after chasing for so long without success, he grew extremely frustrated. If he did catch them, he vowed to devour them alive.

Several hundred miles away, in a narrow valley, Ye Haitang, Wang Qingling, and Wang Qiuming stood beside a yellow boulder as tall as a person. Wang Qingling held a pale blue orb in her hand, which pulsed continuously with spiritual light.

“It’s either Eight Sister or Huaxing. They shouldn’t be far from us,” Wang Qingling said, her face filled with delight. The sensing orb had reacted, confirming that Wang Qingqing or Wang Huaxing was nearby.

They had been in the Immortal Ascension Ruins for over half a month and had finally encountered either Wang Qingqing or Wang Huaxing.

Just then, a deafening roar suddenly came from high in the sky. A red lotus over a hundred zhang wide appeared, followed swiftly by another colossal roar and a second massive, entirely red lotus.

“Oh no, the Red Lotus alarm!” Ye Haitang exclaimed, her face falling. “They’re in trouble, probably encountered a fourth-tier demonic beast.”

Different colored lotuses carried different meanings: a blue lotus was a signal for assembly, a golden lotus a signal for battle, and a red lotus was an alarm.

She knew well that Wang Qingqing possessed a fourth-tier puppet beast and fourth-tier talismans. If they were struggling, it meant they had either encountered a fourth-tier demonic beast or a formidable enemy, with the former being more likely.

“Set up formations, prepare to receive Cousin Qingqing,” Ye Haitang commanded. She took out formation flags and disks, distributing them to Wang Qiuming and Wang Qingling, instructing them to help her set up the formations. They possessed two sets of fourth-tier formations and one set of third-tier formations.

No sooner had they finished setting up the formations than another deafening roar echoed from high in the sky, accompanied by the faint sound of a woman's tragic scream.

“Oh no, Eight Sister is in trouble!” Wang Qingling cried. “I’ll go support her. Cousin Haitang, Qiuming, you two stay here and be ready to receive me.” She released her Black Sparrow and leaped onto its back. The Black Sparrow flapped its wings, stirring up a strong gust of wind, and soared towards the sky.

Wang Qingqing lay in a massive crater, a fist-sized bloody hole in her left shoulder. Blood stained most of her body, and her face was pale.

From high in the sky, a sharp hissing sound echoed, as hundreds of thick-bodied blue pythons descended.

A flicker of panic flashed in Wang Qingqing’s eyes. She quickly summoned a palm-sized blue lotus mirror and poured a spell into it. The mirror burst forth with ten thousand rays of blue light, and a vast stream of slender blue lights shot out to meet the descending pythons.

A thunderous roar of explosions erupted. The dense blue lights pierced through the bodies of hundreds of blue pythons, and the pythons disintegrated into large quantities of black hair, scattering across the ground.

A flash of blue light, and a shimmering blue miniature pagoda suddenly appeared above her head. As countless blue runes lit up on the miniature pagoda, its size dramatically increased, transforming into a colossal pagoda over a hundred zhang tall. The runes continued to flicker, and a blue python coiled around the pagoda's body, appearing to swallow clouds and spit out mist.

The colossal blue pagoda spat out a stream of blue mist, enveloping Wang Qingqing.

Wang Qingqing changed her spell, and the surface of the blue lotus mirror shimmered with blue light, shooting out hundreds of head-sized blue fireballs to meet the incoming attack.

The blue fireballs, upon contact with the blue mist, were extinguished completely, as if they had never existed.

Just then, a fierce gale raged, and hundreds of gigantic, door-sized wind blades shot forth.

Boom! The blue mist was shattered by the dense, gigantic wind blades, and several mountaintops were sliced flat. As the gale dispersed, Wang Qingqing was gone. An earth dragon was carrying her quickly underground, just as the Black Sparrow flew over.

“Huaxing, retreat quickly!” Wang Qingling called out to Wang Huaxing. The Black Sparrow flapped its wings, emitting a clear bird cry, and hundreds of fist-sized black fireballs flew out, smashing towards the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man flicked his sleeve, and a palm-sized blue banner flew out. A lifelike green snake was embroidered on its surface.

A flash of blue light, and a massive surge of fierce wind burst forth. The black fireballs struck the fierce wind and disintegrated completely.

Wang Qingling and Wang Huaxing fled towards Ye Haitang's location, moving extremely fast.

The middle-aged man scoffed lightly, put away his magic treasure, and gave chase.

The Black Sparrow's speed was far inferior to Wang Huaxing's, and Wang Qingling fell behind.

A piercing whoosh came from behind them. Wang Qingling, already prepared, made the Black Sparrow evade, and a blast of fierce wind grazed past them.

The Black Sparrow let out a pained shriek, blood gushing from its abdomen, and its speed slowed.

Thousands of thick-bodied blue pythons pursued from behind, each opening its mouth to spray out streaks of blue light.

The Black Sparrow was heavily wounded, its speed far diminished. While attempting to dodge, it was hit by over a dozen streaks of blue light and disintegrated into a large shower of blood. Wang Qingling suppressed the grief in her heart and flew away into the distance.

She had painstakingly cultivated the Black Sparrow to the third tier, never expecting it to die here now.
