Chapter 47: Magic Sound

Shi Chun responded loudly, "Generosity is good!"

The two exchanged words, chatting and laughing freely, clearly trying to provoke others. Their tacit cooperation was also a means of self-preservation.

Prompted by their sarcastic remarks, Xiang Lan'er recalled the entire incident. Her "benefactor" had obtained the deed of sale but hadn't given it to her and Bian Weikang immediately. Instead, he had taken them straight back to Wuyou Pavilion, and during that time, the big guy had indeed left briefly on an excuse.

The person holding her captive behind her had mentioned the contents of the deed of sale in front of her, then immediately destroyed it completely.

At the time, she hadn't thought anything of it, but now, reflecting on it, everything seemed suspicious. The problem was, for something as important as a deed of sale, she hadn't known to get it into her own hands immediately. At the very least, she should have checked its authenticity before it was destroyed, right?

But after he pulled out the deed and looked at it, she wasn't given any time to react before he destroyed it directly.

Yet, to say she wasn't given any time to react wouldn't be fair; wasn't the long journey from Liyun Tower to Wuyou Pavilion enough time?

She couldn't bear to think about it; the more she did, the more frustrated she became. She realized she had been too careless, never expecting anyone to resort to such a low-class, underhanded trick. Weren't they afraid of the embarrassment if they were exposed?

Everyone said that people from the Demonic Path were evil cultists, but this guy behind her was even more sinister than they were!

Although she realized her own carelessness, to fall victim to such a low-level trick was truly unbearable in her shame and indignation.

Feng Chi's reaction suggested that what Shi Chun said was likely true, and she was immediately shocked. She had the same question in her mind: Didn't you even check the authenticity of your deed of sale before it was destroyed?

She wanted to ask the Saintess, if it was so important that you had to personally go to Wukang Mountain, then what was the meaning of this mess? What if someone later took the deed of sale to the Heavenly Court Tribunal and filed a complaint, and the Tribunal ordered Wukang Mountain to hand the person over?

Wukang Mountain wouldn't dare defy the Heavenly Court, so they would have to obediently hand over the person. How would that work then?

Seeing the two kidnappers' sarcastic remarks,

Feng Chi shook Cen Futong's neck again and pressed in a low voice, "How did you catch my mistress?"

Pale-faced Cen Futong, both scared and uncomfortable, replied, "Just like that."

Feng Chi squeezed his nape hard, making him howl in pain, and demanded again, "I'm asking for the detailed process of the capture."

This question was very important to her.

Cen Futong quickly confessed honestly, "There wasn't any process. We rushed out, she didn't resist at all, and we just grabbed her."

Really, no resistance at all? Feng Chi turned her gaze to the Saintess again, her eyes seeking confirmation.

Xiang Lan'er felt even more ashamed, as if she would lose face if questioned further, and silently closed her eyes.

The disbelieving Feng Chi understood. So, she really did surrender without a fight. Well, perhaps the Saintess was afraid of being exposed.

She then asked, "My mistress is in his hands. Did he capture her alone, or did all of you capture her together?"

Cen Futong said nervously, "I didn't lay a hand on her. If you don't believe me, ask your mistress. The other three guys captured her."

Not only was he trying to clear himself of responsibility, but what he said was also true; he hadn't made a move earlier.

Feng Chi gestured toward Shi Chun with her chin, "Did those two not lay a hand on her either?"

Shi Chun and the others found this question strange. Why keep asking about this in circles? The person had already been captured, and with only a few people present, did it still matter who captured her?

Cen Futong: "No, they didn't lay a hand on her. Only those three did."

Feng Chi: "I followed you. As soon as you made your move, I approached immediately and saw my mistress being held captive by him. You're all a group; could he just randomly take my mistress hostage without reason?"

Daring to be dishonest? She increased the force of her grip.

This was also her biggest point of doubt. If the situation had been even slightly less rigid, she could have easily rescued the person with her strength.

Cen Futong immediately shrieked in pain, "I don't know! I find it strange too! We had just captured the person when he immediately snatched her and put a knife to her throat, as if facing a formidable enemy. I asked him what was going on, and he said your mistress had accomplices. Then, mistress, you arrived. I truly don't know how he knew."

Such a thing happened? Feng Chi instinctively thought it was nonsense and looked at the Saintess again.

Xiang Lan'er's eyes, however, showed nothing but shame, meaning she had given a clear answer: it was indeed true.

Could such an absurd thing truly have happened? Feng Chi was astonished. Was this precognition, or had he already discerned their plan? If the latter, it would be far too terrifying.

In any case, at least her greatest fear was now ruled out: the two men holding the hostage hadn't used any special means when capturing her. This meant she had no more worries and could act without hesitation.

She wasn't going to wait any longer. A sharp blade had already drawn blood on the Saintess's neck, and a short blade had been thrust between her ribs under her armpit. Waiting this long had already made the Saintess suffer; she couldn't procrastinate any further.

Cen Futong, whom she held, was suddenly flung out with overwhelming force.

Boom! The flying Cen Futong directly collided with the skinny monkey, who couldn't dodge in time. The latter was greatly alarmed and was sent flying before he could react. Both spat blood and crashed into a large boulder, shattering it. Before the splattered blood could hit the ground, the rumbling collapse of debris buried them.

The skinny monkey, in his final moments, didn't even get a chance to regret. His fate, unfortunately, had indeed been foretold.

Killing two more in an instant, Shi Chun and the other man were slightly startled. They had heard that people outside were more civilized and reasonable than those in the Land of Exile. Is this it? Five people killed right upon arrival.

The two once again felt as if they were facing a formidable enemy.

Just as the two thought a situation of mutual destruction was about to unfold, Feng Chi's figure flickered, instantly vanishing into the mountain forest without a trace. Bian Weikang, still unconscious on the ground, remained there.

"Chun Tian, what the hell was that?" Wu Jinliang looked around in confusion and surprise, utterly bewildered.

Shi Chun said in a deep voice, "How would I know?"

Although she seemed to have left, the two men dared not relax in the slightest; instead, they became even more tense.

A faint cold smile appeared on Xiang Lan'er's face.

"Chun Tian, quick, look around!" Wu Jinliang suddenly gave an urgent warning.

Shi Chun saw it without needing to be told. The visual light suddenly dimmed, and a black mist simultaneously spread through the surrounding mountain forest, quickly obscuring the trees. The black mist was approaching them at a visible speed.

This seemed to be an illusion, and the two immediately became highly tense. They kept their guard up, wary of a sudden attack from any direction.

Just then, Xiang Lan'er suddenly felt that Shi Chun's body seemed to be in trouble; his muscles were tense, and he appeared to be trembling.

She couldn't help but find it amusing. Was he trembling with fear? Did he finally know fear now?

Shi Chun's body was indeed in trouble. As soon as he became tense, the agonizing sensation of countless insects gnawing at his spine and his brain feeling as if it would split open reappeared.

Fortunately, an anomaly in his right eye also appeared simultaneously; the hallucinatory visual image reappeared.

Enduring the pain, he quickly scanned with his right eye and soon locked onto the right side. Deep within the mist there was a hazy white humanoid mist figure, the only one around. Judging by its form, it should be Feng Chi.

What was strange, however, was that this hazy white humanoid mist figure looked different from before; there was clearly a flame-like object inside it, seemingly a burning black flame.

What was going on? Shi Chun was puzzled, but he urgently warned, "Jinliang, follow me."

He shifted his steps, adjusting Xiang Lan'er to his front right, continuing to use her as a shield to avoid direct sneak attacks.

As his gaze unintentionally shifted and his right eye's vision swept past Xiang Lan'er, it quickly returned to her, and he was astonished to find that Xiang Lan'er also had a burning black flame-like object inside her. What the hell?

He quickly looked back at Wu Jinliang; Wu Jinliang, in his right eye's vision, was just a hazy white mass, with no abnormalities.

Only these two women had it?

Wu Jinliang, back to back with him, cooperated tacitly, shifting his steps as well, his knife held in front of him like a plank of wood.

Deep within the black mist, Feng Chi, standing on a small slope, looked puzzled. Shi Chun and his companion's adjusted positions were too accurate for dealing with her. Could they see through her illusion, or was their hearing exceptionally keen?

Perhaps it was just a coincidence.

Regardless, she couldn't afford to waste any more time. The Saintess was already injured. She intertwined her fingers to cast a spell, forming a lotus hand seal and holding it before her chest.

A murmuring sound suddenly buzzed and echoed through the mountain forest.

It was a very strange murmuring sound. If one listened closely, it was "om nam om nam om nam..."

The tone was dense and rapid, seemingly echoing throughout the entire forest, yet also murmuring right beside one's ear.

Xiang Lan'er calmly closed her eyes, clearly entering a state of peaceful concentration.

This strange situation immediately made Shi Chun and Wu Jinliang feel uneasy.

For Shi Chun, continuing to stall like this was not an option. Furthermore, the bizarre situation before him surpassed his understanding. Enduring the pain in his body, he suddenly shouted, "Mistress, we have no grudges against each other. There's nothing we can't talk about; we can have a proper discussion."

The buzzing sound did not stop, ignoring him, and Feng Chi gave no response either.

"Om nam om nam om nam om nam, ah..."

The sound, which seemed to be both at their ears and echoing in the forest, grew faster and faster in rhythm. Suddenly, a sharp, piercing shriek erupted with a wail. The "ah" scream burst forth, instantly seeming to pierce eardrums and rush straight into one's brain.

This was Wu Jinliang's experience; he instantly felt his mind go blank, his knife clattered to the ground, and he rolled his eyes, collapsing entirely.

In Shi Chun's ears, the shriek was a different matter; he only found it sharp and noisy, without much discomfort.

Wu Jinliang's collapse greatly startled him. He urgently cried out, "Jinliang!"

Immediately, without hesitation, he shouted back defiantly, "I'd like to see who dies first!"

His eyes showed ruthlessness; he had resolved to be ruthless.

The broken blade hooked onto Xiang Lan'er's ribs under her armpit was ruthlessly thrust a segment deeper into the rib space. Blood quickly stained Xiang Lan'er's clothes red.

Xiang Lan'er suddenly opened her eyes, her face showing pain.

The demonic shriek abruptly ceased, and Feng Chi's voice immediately followed with an urgent cry, "Stop!"

She also flashed out of the black mist quickly, making a 'stop' gesture to Shi Chun, and asked with a face full of surprise and doubt, "Are you cultivating demonic arts? Are you also from the Demonic Path? Of Lianshan or Guizang, which lineage do you belong to?"
