Chapter 128: He Has a Very Lowly Fate

"Hmph," Bian Weiying snorted, ignoring Wu Jinliang's warning. She couldn't help but passionately embrace Shi Chun, as if wanting to melt him into her own body. The joy in her heart was beyond external comprehension, knowing that Shi Chun had not betrayed her but had been looking out for her safety.

After a while, she only let go when Shi Chun patted her back. With no more entanglement, Shi Chun began to calm down and regulate his breathing.

After his depleted vital energy recovered, the three continued their journey as before.

After traveling for a while, they had to find a place to rest again. This happened repeatedly, and even without Shi Chun saying anything, Bian Weiying understood that his night vision ability was likely related to his cultivation technique. She mistakenly thought this method consumed a lot of spiritual power.

Later, as they passed through areas with increasing numbers of monsters, they sometimes even had to rest among piles of them. They couldn't even speak openly, and Bian Weiying took on more responsibility for vigilance.

Stopping and going like this, it took them over a day to cover a distance that seemed very short when flying with the Wind Scale.

The spot where they stopped was still several hundred zhang away from the monster with the red glowing core. They couldn't get any closer because the monsters in this area were simply too numerous, often creating a surging mass of monsters pressing against each other.

All that was left was to wait. There was no other better way, at least none they could find at the moment.

Shi Chun sat cross-legged to recover, while Wu Jinliang and Bian Weiying stood guard, occasionally lifting the flap of flesh to observe outside. They had already grown accustomed to the nauseating stench inside the monster's body.

They waited and waited. It could be said that persistence pays off, or that their efforts were not misplaced.

About half a day later, a "woo-woo-woo" horn sound suddenly blared again.

In the darkness, Wu Jinliang and Bian Weiying quickly pushed open the flap of flesh to observe outside, constantly changing positions to look. They couldn't see anything, blocked by the restless monster horde outside, but they vaguely saw light in a certain direction.

It was Wu Jinliang who discovered it. He instantly became a little anxious, turning back to whisper, "Shi Chun, over here."

He didn't need to call out; with such a huge commotion outside, Shi Chun wasn't dead. He had already activated his right eye's ability and saw it. In the direction Wu Jinliang was facing, about four to five li away, large, hazy cave-like openings appeared, and within them was the light of the ethereal blue background, visible only from the outside world.

Many surging monster shadows were crawling or flying towards the large openings.

Shi Chun immediately whispered to the two, "Carry it together, head in that direction, fast!"

They had to be fast; the window for the exit to be open would definitely not last long, and who could guarantee when the next one would be?

The three immediately worked together, lifting the monster's corpse and forcefully pushing in that direction, instantly knocking over many monsters.

But it was useless. There were too many surging monsters; the number piled up ahead was as vast as a mountain, and those constantly flowing in from behind quickly overwhelmed them.

They couldn't sweep aside the monsters and jump, nor could they fly up, as that would immediately expose them from their hidden position underneath.

Moreover, flying was not an option. Too many monsters were flying in the air, and their cultivation was not yet sufficient to hold heavy objects afloat without falling, or to maneuver freely in the air to avoid obstacles.

"Stop!" Shi Chun decisively shouted. Despite the noisy commotion outside, he suppressed his voice and said, "This won't work. Before we can push our way to the exit, it will close. There's no time. The distance isn't far, at most four or five li. Let's take a gamble: once we get out, immediately sprint at full speed towards the exit. Don't worry about anyone else; run as fast as you can. If one gets out, that's one. Senior Sister, how are your injuries?"

Bian Weiying replied, "I'm fine; this distance won't be a problem."

"Alright, let's sweep and push our way out first. One, two, up!" Shi Chun gave the command, and the three immediately activated their abilities together, pushing up with the monster's corpse.

As soon as they emerged from the compacted pile, Shi Chun immediately kicked over the monster's corpse, darted forward, pulling the bewildered Wu Jinliang and Bian Weiying towards the exit, effectively guiding them in the chaos.

They couldn't run in a straight line; too many monsters were floating and swaying in the air ahead, blocking their path.

The three quickly moved, stepping and dodging on the monsters' bodies, heading all the way towards the light.

Those monsters weren't blind. They might not have reacted at first, but they quickly became agitated.

A cacophony of "gah-gah-gah" roars filled the air.

The monster with the red glowing core, perched on a mountaintop, immediately shot out two slender tentacles, pointing towards the disturbance. The monsters blocking its view each had their eyes glow faintly red, a wave of light spreading out like ripples, reaching the monsters that were dodging the three.

For some unknown reason, a multitude of faintly red-glowing eyes almost simultaneously locked onto Shi Chun.

"Woo-woo-gah..."

The red-cored monster, as if seeing the three with its own eyes, let out a horn sound that was almost a roar, its straightened tentacles vibrating like strings.

The monsters in the indicated direction swiftly moved aside, quickly clearing a path. As the monsters at the exit cleared away and no longer obstructed the closing, the large exit quickly shrank and closed.

Bian Weiying, who had said she was fine, found her speed clearly affected by her injuries. Just as she watched the shrinking exit in panic and anxiety, a hand appeared from nowhere, pressed against her lower back, and abruptly pushed her.

That warm and powerful sensation was as if it could confuse past and present lives, as if it touched her soul. She glanced back and, at the same moment she saw Shi Chun, she suddenly accelerated, shooting out like a cannonball. She could be said to have started late but arrived early, instantly surpassing Wu Jinliang. In a flash, she escaped the darkness, suddenly finding herself in a bright, misty mountain forest.

Shi Chun, meanwhile, clearly due to the recoil from that push, found his speed suddenly lagged. Relatively speaking, he almost stopped; he would need to land and then push off again to regain momentum. Compared to the speed at which the exit was closing, there was no time. This immediately made Bian Weiying cry out in alarm, "Shi Chun!"

Wu Jinliang, who had just flashed out of the opening right behind her, heard her cry and turned back.

Just as he pushed Bian Weiying, seeing that the area around the exit had suddenly cleared of obstacles, Shi Chun simultaneously pulled out the Wind Scale and activated it.

Before he even landed, he rapidly surged upwards again. The Wind Scale's flight speed directly surged to its fastest, and finally, like a streak of light, he flashed out of the closing gap.

Before flashing out, Shi Chun glanced back, directly seeing the monster with the red glowing core, which was flashing at the end of the cleared passage. The man and the monster seemed to have locked eyes before Shi Chun quickly turned his head to look forward.

Almost as soon as the streak of light emerged, the spatial rift also flashed and disappeared.

With a rumbling sound, the streak of light crashed through trees and rocks, seemingly pulverizing everything in its path. It also mangled some of the monsters that had already emerged, causing them to materialize. Its speed gradually decreased with each impact until it finally slammed into a mountain, sending earth and stones flying, only then did it finally come to a halt.

There was no other way. The streak of light was too fast, and the terrain outside the spatial rift was too complex. It simply didn't have time to turn, so it just crashed into whatever was in its way.

Wu Jinliang and Bian Weiying, who had landed one after another, turned their heads and watched the streak of light crash away.

"Shi Chun!" "Shi Chun!"

The two cried out in alarm one after another and quickly dashed towards the spot, landing on the mountainside where a large pit had been blasted open, frantically searching.

The earth suddenly burst open, and a figure pushed aside the earth and stones, jumping out from beneath the rubble. Spitting and sputtering, covered in dirt, and shedding bits of earth from his entire body, who else could it be but Shi Chun? Seeing that Wu Jinliang and Bian Weiying were both fine, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

He then picked up the base of the metal pinecone in his hand, repeatedly attempting to activate it with his power, but no more Wind Scale fragments responded. He then dejectedly said, "What kind of magical treasure is this? It's useless after just one crash."

Bian Weiying didn't care about any magical treasure or whether he was dirty. She suddenly rushed over and tightly embraced him, holding him close, almost crying with joy. She had really been terrified just now.

This scene made Wu Jinliang feel awkward. He really wanted to remind the two to be mindful of the occasion. They hadn't even escaped danger yet, and they were already so impatient. Was this still the Border Lord Bian from his memory, who stood proudly killing people on a rainy night?

Someone suddenly hung onto him, and Shi Chun suddenly felt a piercing, bone-deep pain. He stumbled back a step, almost collapsing.

Bian Weiying sensed something was wrong and quickly let go, supporting him.

Wu Jinliang's gaze also fell on Shi Chun's hunched back. He saw blood blossoms beginning to bloom on his mud-stained back, blood spreading, and at the location of each blood blossom, there was a tear in his clothes.

He quickly lent a hand to support him as well, asking in surprise, "What happened to your back?"

Bian Weiying quickly leaned forward to look and was also greatly alarmed when she saw.

Shi Chun shook his head, "It's nothing. Some Wind Scale fragments followed and embedded themselves in my body."

Seeing that some tears on his back were not stained with blood, Wu Jinliang quickly lifted the hem of his long robe, only to find that Shi Chun's pants also had blood blossoms spreading. He immediately asked, "Is it fatal?"

Shi Chun replied, "Not fatal. I just need to use my power to force them out later."

Seeing Bian Weiying's eyes welling up with tears from distress, Wu Jinliang quickly consoled her, "Sister-in-law, his life is cheap; as long as it's not fatal, he won't die."

To his surprise, Bian Weiying was ungrateful and immediately retorted, "Your life is cheap!"

"......" Wu Jinliang was stunned.

Shi Chun said, "Let's go. Let's leave this place first. Wu Jinliang, your Wind Scale."

Unsure of their exact location in the Moon Sea, they knew using the Wind Scale was the most convenient way to escape.

Just as Wu Jinliang took out his Wind Scale, they heard a fierce "woo-woo-woo" horn sound blare.

The three turned to look and were instantly alarmed. They saw that the spatial rift at their exit point had actually opened again, and a dark red monster floated out. Countless eyes seemed to churn the forest, fixed on them, as it roared and floated towards them.

The three quickly looked around, seeing the surrounding trees swaying and phantom shadows moving above, only then realizing they were surrounded by monsters.

But just then, the clouds high in the sky suddenly seemed to shatter, and several figures abruptly descended from the sky, moving with astonishing speed.

By the time Shi Chun and the other two looked up in alarm, they vaguely saw one person hovering in the air, bringing a palm down towards the ground. With a "Boom!", the dark red monster was instantly flattened to the ground like a pancake. Immediately afterwards, nothing could be seen clearly as powerful overflowing energy swept through everything around them like a destructive force.

Trees were snapped or uprooted, and earth and stones were blown in all directions like dust. Countless monsters were also sent flying by the shockwave. Shi Chun and the other two were struck by monsters and carried away by the violent winds, stumbling and tumbling continuously, unable to control themselves.
