Chapter 799: Teaching the Sword Technique

"Be doormen?" Ying Qin, Bai Mian, and the others all clenched their fists, so furious they felt like they would explode.

They were fourth-year students, peak experts of the Dimension Traversing Realm. A mere freshman was asking them to be doormen?

Was this a bet? Or were they deliberately trying to humiliate them!

"Didn't you just say you wouldn't lose? If you don't lose, there's no need to worry about being doormen. What's wrong, have you lost confidence already?" Zhang Xuan said with a faint smile, looking at them.

"Let's change the terms!" Ying Qin's face turned ashen as he flicked his sleeve.

Even if they didn't lose, making such a bet with someone would still be humiliating!

"Don't be shy. It's normal to be afraid of losing; there's nothing to be ashamed of. It's just human nature," Zhang Xuan consoled.

"You..." If they hadn't heard that, it might have been fine, but after hearing it, Ying Qin, Bai Mian, and the others were so enraged they nearly coughed up blood.

What did he mean "shy"? What did he mean "it's normal to be afraid of losing"? They wouldn't lose; they just felt his condition was a bit excessive...

Just as they were about to retort indignantly, they saw the young man in front of them lower his head and ponder for a moment: "How about this? If you're still afraid of losing, I won't personally intervene. I'll just casually instruct a few freshmen to fight you. If that's still not enough, then I'll instruct... the few people you just defeated. That way, you won't have to worry at all, right?"

"You..." Seeing how increasingly outrageous this fellow was becoming, seemingly deliberately trying to humiliate them, Ying Qin could no longer contain himself. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Fine, we accept! I just hope your strength is as formidable as your words!"

"It's good that you've agreed. Ruo Huan, Song Chao, send a few people over to repair the main gate. Otherwise, if they're going to be doormen, there needs to be a gate!" Seeing them agree, Zhang Xuan nodded with satisfaction and gave an instruction.

Although the freshman area had an entrance, it didn't have a true main gate. Since they had made a bet, it would be awkward if these guys lost and there was no proper place for them to stand.

"Yes!" Ruo Huan, Song Chao, and the others quickly nodded in agreement.

"You're asking for death!" Seeing how this fellow so openly disdained them, assuming from the start of the bet that they were sure to lose, Bai Mian could no longer restrain himself. His dark face turned somewhat grim, and his sparse beard bristled. He shook the great saber in his hand, letting out a buzzing roar, and looked at Ying Qin: "Let me teach this guy a lesson!"

After speaking, he leaped directly to the center of the elevated platform, his gaze like lightning as he looked over. "Zhang Xuan, I'll fight you in the first match. Do you dare to face me?"

"Don't be so impatient! Young people just can't keep their composure!" Zhang Xuan shook his head.

"You..." Shaking with renewed anger, Bai Mian's face grew even darker, almost like the bottom of a pot.

We might look young, but we're all over fifty, okay? And you, about twenty years old, actually call your seniors 'young people'! Have you no shame?

"Do you only have a sharp tongue? If you're a man, come up here!" Knowing his verbal skills were certainly no match for this young man, Bai Mian gritted his teeth.

"If I come up, you'll definitely lose. I don't bully people. As I just said, I'll find a few freshmen to fight you. I won't go back on my word!"

Zhang Xuan waved his hand, no longer paying attention to the nearly enraged Bai Mian on the stage. He looked around, scanning the many freshmen before him. "Who among you uses a saber? And who just lost to this fellow?"

Hearing the question, everyone exchanged bewildered glances.

They had thought Master Zhang was just deliberately provoking the other party. Could he be serious? They had already lost earlier; even if their injuries weren't severe, they still couldn't win!

"I... I lost just now!" After a brief pause, a young man stepped forward.

He was a freshman of twenty-five or twenty-six, only at the early stage of the Harmonizing Spirit Realm. He had a saber wound on his body; though not severe, it looked gruesome, as if his opponent could have easily split him in half but showed mercy, allowing him to survive.

"Excellent!" Zhang Xuan observed him carefully, then nodded. "You're the one. In a moment, go up and fight this fellow again, and defeat him!"

"I..." The young man was startled, his face filled with conflict. "I'm no match for him; I couldn't even block one move!"

When he fought him earlier, he was directly struck down the moment he stepped onto the stage, without even raising his saber. Fighting again would just be another loss!

"It's fine. I'll teach you one saber technique now. When you go up, use it, and try to strike him down with a single move!" Zhang Xuan said.

"One saber technique?" The young man was stunned.

What good was one move? The opponent was powerful due to his martial skills and his understanding of saber techniques. Never mind teaching one move, even teaching ten or a hundred moves wouldn't make him win if he couldn't already!

"Indeed. Give me your saber!" Zhang Xuan nodded.

"Yes!" Though the young man was completely bewildered by what this Guild Leader was doing, he still handed over his long saber.

"Damn it..." As saber techniques were about to be taught below, Bai Mian on the stage was furious, almost to the point of madness.

A freshman actually claimed that he would definitely lose if he went up... That was one thing, but to just pick a defeated subordinate, teach him one saber move, and expect him to defeat himself?

What kind of joke was this? If he, a distinguished top student of the Martial Arts Academy, could be defeated so easily, what right did he have to be called an expert?

He was too arrogant! Too presumptuous, too audacious! Not to mention a freshman, even the dean of the Martial Arts Academy wouldn't dare to speak like this!

"Bai Mian, since Master Zhang wants to teach a novice saber techniques to fight you, we won't take advantage. Close your six senses and don't watch. We'll talk after he finishes teaching!"

Ying Qin's face was also grim with anger, but as a renowned master, he couldn't lose his dignity, so he waved his hand and spoke.

The opponent said he would teach saber techniques. Given their status as geniuses of the Martial Arts Academy, if he taught it directly in front of them, the freshman might not even understand it before they learned it. How would that be a fair fight then?

Even if they won, people would say it wasn't a fair victory. It was better not to watch or listen. That way, if this fellow lost, he'd have no more excuses.

"Alright!" Bai Mian nodded, just about to close his six senses, when he saw Zhang Xuan looking over from below the stage. "There's no need for such trouble. Since you're all martial arts masters from the Martial Arts Academy, you must have extensive knowledge of martial skills. When I teach, it's a good opportunity for you to observe and even offer corrections!"

Bai Mian and Ying Qin exchanged glances, each blinking in bewilderment.

This guy... did he just get his head caught in a door or kicked by a donkey? You're going to teach saber techniques for fighting me, and you want me to watch?

How would that be a fight?

"Since he wants us to watch, then we'll watch. When he loses, let's see what he has to say then!" Just as he was at a loss, Bai Mian immediately heard Ying Qin's telepathic message.

Among the three of them, Ying Qin was the leader. Since he said so, Bai Mian could only nod in agreement, focusing his gaze on the young man below who was being taught the saber technique.

"Just one move, watch closely!" Ignoring the bewildered crowd, Zhang Xuan smiled, shaking the long saber in his hand and chopping it diagonally downwards.

The saber move was executed very slowly, like painting on paper with a brush.

"This is a saber technique?" Bai Mian stood dumbfounded.

Since he started learning saber techniques at the age of five, he had never executed such an ugly move. This wasn't a saber technique at all; even ordinary wood chopping was many times more sophisticated than this move!

He had thought there would be some formidable saber technique that could defeat him in one move. He never dreamed that this... this thing would be displayed. Was he just messing with him?

Not only was he dumbfounded, but the young man waiting for Zhang Xuan to teach him martial arts was also on the verge of tears.

He had thought the Guild Leader was confident and would teach some powerful move, but he never expected... this thing...

From his perspective, he could also see that this saber move had no technique at all... This kind of haphazard chop couldn't even kill an ant. Could it really defeat the fourth-year senior who couldn't even be blocked with one move earlier? He had absolutely no confidence.

"My saber technique emphasizes intent over form. This is the essence and mystery of saber techniques; grasp it well!"

Just as he was feeling depressed, wondering what Master Zhang was doing, a faint voice sounded in his ear. Immediately after, his body swayed, and a thought was transmitted into his mind.

"This is... soul impartation?" The young man's body trembled as he felt the cultivation method suddenly appear in his mind.

Soul impartation was said to be an ability exclusive to seven-star master teachers. How could the Guild Leader perform it?

"Don't overthink it. Hurry and memorize the cultivation method, remember the saber intent I'm imparting to you. In a moment, execute it according to this saber intent!"

Seeing him in a daze, Zhang Xuan chided him telepathically.

"Yes!" The young man finally reacted, hastily looking at the saber technique in his mind. Indeed, he saw a saber intent contained within it, surging like lightning, carrying a sharp, irresistible aura.

"This..." His pupils constricted.

Although he didn't have Bai Mian's extensive experience, he was also a master teacher who practiced saber techniques. He could naturally see at a glance how powerful this saber intent was.

Simply imitating it would undoubtedly advance his understanding of the saber by several levels, reaching an astonishing degree.

After circulating the cultivation method within his body once, and activating the saber intent, his eyes seemed to flash with saber edges. The young man took a deep breath and bowed deeply. "Thank you, Guild Leader!"

"Good, go on. Defeat this fellow!" Zhang Xuan waved his hand.

Bai Mian had been immersed in saber techniques for countless years. Even teaching a simplified version of the Heavenly Dao Saber Art would make it difficult to quickly surpass him. There was no other way, so he had to impart saber intent.

The true intent of a weapon could be understood intuitively but not easily expressed in words. For others, even if they comprehended it, it would be difficult to transmit.

However, Zhang Xuan cultivated the Heavenly Dao Saber Art, which embodies profound simplicity. His saber intent was primordial and flawless. Combined with his spirit enchanter's methods, he could transmit it, allowing the other party to utilize it.

"Yes!" Taking a deep breath, the young man nodded, then leaped onto the elevated platform.

If he had been a bit intimidated and felt it was impossible to win against Senior Bai Mian just moments ago, now, with Zhang Xuan's saber intent brewing within him, he felt no fear whatsoever.

"And you think you can beat me?" Seeing this fellow, who had indeed learned a saber technique worse than chopping wood, actually coming up to challenge him, Bai Mian was furious to the point of exploding. He suppressed his rage and snorted.

"Pardon me for offending you!" The young man nodded, shook his long saber, and an aura that seemed capable of cleaving the sky suddenly emerged, followed by a downward slash.

Whoosh! Although he was only at the early stage of the Harmonizing Spirit Realm, his saber light was like an electric arc, instantly spreading several meters and reaching Bai Mian in the blink of an eye, as if it would tear through the very air.

"Saber generating electric light... This, this is the ability that comes from comprehending the Saber Heart? How is this possible..." Bai Mian's body trembled, his eyes wide as if they would pop out of their sockets. Immediately, he felt a roaring in his ears, like thunder exploding beside him, as if it could erupt at any moment.
