Chapter 1808: One Word Dismissal

Everyone else shivered, their faces filled with regret.

They had always heard that the catacombs were full of treasures, and that by simply entering and not being too unlucky, one could make a huge fortune and acquire sufficient cultivation resources. They never imagined that less than half an hour after arriving, they would encounter such a formidable pack of wolves, and that even Wu Kuang, the strongest among them, would be defeated in a single move.

If he was no match, what could they do?

"We must attack together, or we'll truly die here..."

An old man gritted his teeth, took out a long spear, and as True Qi surged into it, the spear tip pulsated with power, like a long serpent. His cultivation was only at the early stage of Saint 4-realm Primordial Spirit, yet he could unleash a weapon aura. Ordinarily, this would draw applause and awe, but now, in the eyes of the wolf pack, it was as ridiculous as a child's play.

*Whoosh!*

A Maple Leaf Wolf moved. The wolf king didn't even need to act; an ordinary gray wolf simply bit down, engulfing the spear's aura. With a flick of its claw, blood spurted, and a huge gash appeared on the old man's chest.

"Elder Luo..."

Seeing him injured, a middle-aged man beside him couldn't hold back; he pulled out his weapon and charged forward. The others also understood that their lives were at stake and dared not delay, so they all charged forward in unison, each unleashing their strongest techniques.

*Thump, thump, thump!*

The sound of sacks ripping open could be heard as those who had charged were sent flying back at an even faster speed. Each one landed on the ground, their faces covered in dust, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.

The power gap was too vast, and they were unfamiliar with the environment under the blood moon. It had barely begun, and it was already over.

Seeing the people he led so easily defeated, Wu Kuang's face showed despair. If only he had known, he would have come alone. At least he would have been a smaller target, able to react flexibly and leave immediately. Now it was over; they would likely all perish here, with no chance of escape.

As he was wondering how the wolves would deal with them, he glanced around and saw the two people he had been unwilling to bring earlier still sitting in place, unmoving. It was as if they hadn't even noticed the wolf pack.

"They..."

Just as he was about to get angry, he sighed. "Never mind, with their strength, charging forward would be useless..." One was sickly, and the other might not even have reached the Saint realm. If he, a Seven-star Peak Master Teacher, couldn't resist the Maple Leaf Wolf pack, what good would it do for them to act?

"Human Master Teachers have pure power within them, excellent for nourishment," the wolf king snorted coldly. "Leave this one for me; you deal with the others..." Seeing that everyone had lost the strength to resist, the wolf king stepped toward Wu Kuang.

"I never thought I, Wu Kuang, would die here..."

Seeing the wolf king drawing closer and knowing escape was impossible, a hint of sorrow appeared in Wu Kuang's eyes. He had thought that by entering the catacombs, he could achieve great things with his identity as a Seven-star Peak Master Teacher. He never dreamed it would all be over before he even had a chance to act.

As he thought this, a surge of power erupted within him again; he wanted to perish together with the wolf king before him. Suddenly, the ground trembled, and a muffled sound emanated from underground. It was unclear where it came from, but it shook everyone's soul.

"Scram!"

*Boom!*

The voice carried a chilling aura, as if a hurricane had swept through. The Maple Leaf Wolf King and the other wolves simultaneously felt their fur stand on end; they instinctively retreated dozens of steps, their massive bodies trembling uncontrollably, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths. A single low roar had actually injured them all simultaneously!

With terror in its eyes, the wolf king hastily looked around. Under the blood moon, the surroundings were empty; not a single figure was in sight. A faint breeze blew, sending a chill down its spine. That voice, though low, had given it a feeling of piercing its very soul. It felt as if, if it dared to harm these humans, it would be instantly slain, beyond salvation even by gods.

"Run!"

Knowing that this master might strike at any moment, the wolf king trembled incessantly. Ultimately, it didn't dare to lay a hand on Wu Kuang and the others; it tucked its tail between its legs and fled. They were just a few human Master Teachers; even if their flesh was delicious, it wasn't worth its own life.

"Thank you, senior, for saving our lives..."

Seeing the wolf pack leave, Wu Kuang and the others exchanged glances, their faces showing the expression of survivors. They all quickly stood up and knelt on the ground. Although they didn't know where this senior was, if they could transmit sound through the ground, they should be able to see their actions and hear their gratitude.

After thanking for a long time, no one appeared, as if that senior didn't exist at all.

"Teacher Wu, what do we do now?"

Seeing no response, the "Elder Luo" from earlier looked over.

"The actions of an expert are not something we can fathom," Wu Kuang said after a moment of thought. "Since they don't wish to see us, we should leave quickly..." He had specifically expressed gratitude, but the other party hadn't appeared, indicating they didn't wish to show themselves. Forcing the issue would be useless.

"Understood!"

After the incident with the wolves, everyone knew this place was dangerous and dared not linger, so they quickly moved forward. After walking for less than half an hour, they saw no further danger and simultaneously let out a sigh of relief.

"I know a place where there are medicinal herbs," Teacher Wu said after a moment of thought. "Let's hurry there, get them, and return. Otherwise, this trip will have been for nothing!" They had already come this far; they couldn't simply retreat out of fear of danger. If they were to leave directly, not only would they get nothing, but it would be like a soldier fleeing without a fight, greatly affecting their state of mind and future cultivation.

Everyone nodded.

"Before we set off, I have something to say!" A middle-aged man stepped forward. Everyone looked over in unison.

"During the danger just now, these two didn't move at all and made no contribution," he said. "Now that we're going to look for medicinal herbs, I suggest we don't bring them!" The middle-aged man snorted coldly, pointing at Zhang Xuan and Wu Chen. "When the wolf pack came, these two sat on the ground pretending to be dead, without any combat strength. Now they want to follow along to look for medicinal herbs? Their audacity is truly something else!"

"That's right, we can't bring them!"

"They're useless, just a burden!"

Several others nodded in agreement. They were here for an adventure, and the stronger the team, the better. These two couldn't do anything, yet they still wanted to follow along. Were they really supposed to wait until they got the medicinal herbs and then share some with them?

Hearing everyone's words, Wu Kuang frowned and looked at the two. "Do you have anything to say?" It wasn't that he didn't want to bring them, but their performance when they encountered the wolf pack earlier was truly terrible.

"I have nothing to say..." Wu Chen was about to speak, but Zhang Xuan waved his hand.

"Then get out!" the middle-aged man from earlier snapped.

"Everyone, please take care..."

Seeing that he wasn't welcome, Zhang Xuan shook his head and cupped his fists. Just as he was about to leave, he felt a powerful aura suddenly descend from the sky, and then a huge vulture slowly descended from above.
