Chapter 504: The Most Shameless Person

Zuan's thoughts soon returned to the arithmetic class he was about to teach for the Heaven-rank students. He figured his first appearance should be a grand one; simply showing up for class like everyone else wouldn't highlight his extraordinary nature.

After racking his brain for a while, Zuan's eyes suddenly lit up. He immediately ran towards the administration building, but the staff there informed him that Shang Liuyu wasn't in her office and was likely resting in the teachers' dormitory or elsewhere.

Watching Zuan rush towards the teachers' dormitory area, the staff couldn't help but mock him behind his back:

"Another one gone crazy."

"Teacher Shang is indeed very charming. Haven't you seen how Director Lu tries to curry favor with her?"

"Doesn't that guy Lu De already have a family?"

"It's a middle-aged man's second spring, you know."

"Director Lu is one thing, but for this kid to try and pursue Teacher Shang? He's completely overestimating himself."

"Why didn't you tell him that Teacher Shang never allows outsiders into her courtyard? He's just wasting his time."

"Hmph, a student from the Yellow-rank class, who knows what connections he pulled to become a teacher at this school. It serves him right to suffer a bit."

Zuan was unaware he was being made fun of. He rushed to the teachers' dormitory area and, following the previous directions, made his way to the outside of Shang Liuyu's courtyard.

*Knock, knock, knock,* Zuan began to knock on the door.

While knocking, he quietly took out his key token and tried it, but the door showed no sign of opening. It seemed a master key was only something one could dream about.

"Who is it?"

A very languid voice came from the courtyard, but it sounded a bit cold, as if the speaker was annoyed at being disturbed.

"It's me, Sister Shang," Zuan quickly replied. Of course, he wouldn't call her "Teacher Shang" like everyone else; that would be too formal.

"Do you need something from me?" Shang Liuyu's voice echoed from the courtyard again.

Zuan looked at the unmoving door, thinking, "What's the meaning of this? With our relationship, she won't even open the door for me?" But as the situation was beyond his control, he honestly replied, "I have a piece of music I'd like Sister Shang to help me play."

Silence fell over the courtyard. After a moment, the courtyard gate opened a crack, and Shang Liuyu's cool voice came from inside: "Come in."

Zuan didn't think much of it and simply pushed the door open. He found that Shang Liuyu's courtyard was much more serene than his own, but what was most striking was the large pool within, its water shimmering and crystal clear.

"She actually has a private swimming pool? How luxurious!" Zuan secretly clicked his tongue. He thought, "I should also mention this to the beautiful headmaster. Why doesn't my courtyard have one? Isn't this differential treatment? And more importantly, I didn't spend those 7.5 million taels for nothing!"

"Do you have a new piece?" a gentle voice asked. Zuan turned his head, and his eyes immediately lit up.

At this moment, Shang Liuyu was tilting her head, using a towel to wipe her wet hair. She looked as if she had just bathed, with water droplets still clinging to her skin. The crystal-clear beads of water seemed to pale in comparison to her snow-white complexion.

She was wrapped in a loose, homewear dress that resembled a bathrobe, revealing her delicate collarbones and milky-white skin.

The dress was just the right length, revealing the graceful curves of her calves and a pair of perfect, slender feet with nails painted a vibrant color from impatiens juice.

Shang Liuyu casually tossed her hair behind her and half-reclined in a nearby rattan chair hanging from a tree, exuding an air of extreme languor. "Did you come all this way just to stare at me?" she asked.

"Uh, no, I have a piece of music I'd like you to help me play," Zuan stammered, his seasoned face flushing for the first time. He always felt that the woman before him had a special temperament. Most women, upon noticing someone's rude gaze, would either blush or get angry, or at least show some negative emotions.

But in Shang Liuyu's vast and captivating eyes, like the ocean, there seemed to be a serene detachment that saw through worldly affairs and an all-encompassing gentleness, which made Zuan feel a bit embarrassed.

"What kind of music?" Shang Liuyu asked, her eyes filled with curiosity. Over the years, many people had used this excuse to approach her, as her love for music was no secret. However, most failed to impress her. It wasn't until her chance encounter with this young man in the pavilion that the music he played refreshed her, even stirring the deepest emotions hidden within her heart.

The style of the music was clearly different from what was common in this world, but music, despite different paths, ultimately aims to touch the human soul. Therefore, she was full of curiosity and goodwill towards this young man. She couldn't understand how, at such a young age, he could play such emotional and beautiful music.

"This piece is called 'God of Gamblers'!" Zuan had been pondering how to make a cool entrance later. He recalled scenes of various prominent figures making their entrances in different films and TV shows and finally came to a conclusion: to be cool, powerful background music was essential.

But there were no recording devices in this world, and he couldn't possibly play music himself while walking in; that would be too undignified. After much thought, Shang Liuyu was the only one in this world who could help him play it.

Of course, finding an excuse to see this beautiful teacher again was also a big reason.

"'God of Gamblers'?" Shang Liuyu said, her expression peculiar. "That name certainly suits you, but I wonder how the music sounds."

Clearly, she had also heard about Zuan winning 7.5 million taels at the Silver Hook Casino.

"I'll give you a rough demonstration to see if you can recreate it." Although Zuan remembered the melody, playing it was quite troublesome, as many of the tunes were synthesized later and weren't simply played with instruments.

At first, Shang Liuyu was relaxed and didn't take it too seriously, but after hearing the tune he hummed, her expression instantly changed, and she unconsciously sat up straight.

After humming, Zuan nervously asked her, "How was it?"

Shang Liuyu let out a long breath. "This tune seems to have a magical power. It makes people's blood boil involuntarily; even I feel a shiver all over my body. It's a bit like an orc war song, yet different. How on earth did you do that?"

"Uh, never mind how I did it," Zuan quickly asked. "I'm curious if you can recreate and play it." His nervousness wasn't about whether the tune sounded good or if she liked it; after all, these things had already been proven in his previous life.

"This tune is a bit strange," Shang Liuyu said. "I'll try it. Can you demonstrate it again?" She brought out a strange instrument from the house. It looked somewhat like a harp, its body made of an unknown material, crystal-clear like jade, and emitting a beautiful blue glow.

Shang Liuyu's slender fingers glided over the instrument. Its timbre was completely different from the harps he had seen in his previous life; its range seemed much wider, capable of producing sounds that instruments from his previous life couldn't.

While recalling the melody she had just heard, Shang Liuyu's slender hands glided over the harp. When she encountered an unclear part, she would confirm it with Zuan again. Gradually, the "God of Gamblers" background music began to be recreated in this world.

"Why do you suddenly need this piece?" Shang Liuyu asked, much more relaxed now that only a few details needed perfecting, and she looked at the young man opposite her with some curiosity.

"Of course, it's to be used as my entrance background music..." Zuan replied. He then roughly explained that he was about to teach the Heaven-rank class.

Shang Liuyu couldn't help but smile. "You really go to great lengths to make Young Miss Chu look at you in a new light."

Zuan waved his hand. "It's not just for her. More importantly, it's my first class as a teacher, and I can't be careless with this entrance. Oh, and tell me, should I wear some makeup, or put on glasses and a beard to look more mature?"

Shang Liuyu hadn't answered yet when suddenly a girl's voice exclaimed, "Aha, so you are here, Shang!"

Her voice was actually clear and quite pleasant, but her overbearing tone made it less comfortable to listen to.

Zuan looked towards the sound. Because he had forgotten to close the door, a girl in red stood at the entrance. Around her neck was a massive pearl necklace, which further highlighted her incredibly fair and tender complexion, like cream, seemingly about to drip with moisture. On her wrist was a vivid green jade bracelet, clearly very valuable.

A quick glance revealed that she was adorned with expensive jewelry everywhere.

"Doesn't this woman worry about being robbed when she goes out?" Zuan speculated with a hint of malice. But he had to admit, although the girl was decked out in gold and silver, she didn't have the vulgar air of a nouveau riche. Perhaps it was because her eyes sparkled, her eyebrows were long and slender, and she was exceptionally beautiful?

"Who are you?" Shang Liuyu asked, looking at the girl in red before her with some confusion.

The girl immediately became angry. "Shang, you're pretending not to know me! You've taught me before!"

Shang Liuyu calmly replied, "I generally don't remember students' names."

The elegant aura about her made the girl catch her breath; she felt there was no way to unleash her anger.

Just then, a man stepped out from beside her and introduced, "This is Young Miss Wu Qing, from the Duke of Yangquan's Wu family."

Another person beside him chimed in, "She ranks fifth on the school's Beauty Roll. How could Teacher Shang not have heard of such a person?"

"Holy crap, heartless?" A familiar melody from his previous life echoed in Zuan's mind.

However, his sudden exclamation made the three people look at him immediately. Wu Qing's face turned a bit awkward. "How dare you take advantage of me?"

Wu Qing's Rage point +233!

Zuan knew this was a huge misunderstanding. He quickly explained, "I said 'holy crap, heartless,' not that I wanted to... uh, anyway, it's not what you think."

He suddenly realized he was only making it worse. Even though he was usually eloquent, he didn't know how to explain himself now.

"How dare he use such vulgar language to insult Young Miss Wu!" the two attendants beside the girl exclaimed, looking incredulous and starting to curse at him.

"State your name!" Wu Qing's face was like frost, like a volcano about to erupt. "I want to see who dares to be so audacious."
