Chapter 2617: Wealth is found through risk and divine messengers

He really can read my memories! The thought had barely formed before he quickly suppressed it, not daring to entertain any other chaotic ideas. Blasphemy would surely spell his doom.

"The great God is truly omniscient and omnipotent, inspiring us mere mortals to prostrate ourselves in admiration," Zu'an said, offering no defense but instead showering the entity with lavish flattery.

As expected, Mieli did not press the matter. "You are capable of being the Lord of the World, and you know how to adapt and navigate circumstances," the entity declared. "You are indeed a natural candidate for the Historian of Ages. Very well, from this moment on, you shall be the new Historian of Ages."

As Mieli spoke, an old book and an unassuming pen appeared before him. From every perspective, they seemed like the most ordinary book and pen imaginable, the kind no one would glance at twice in a study.

However, as the Lord of the World, Zu'an could faintly discern something different. Both objects seemed to subtly emanate an ancient, desolate aura.

He took the old book and gently leafed through it. As he opened it, a river of history seemed to flow across its pages, with various flickering images and scenes. Yet, in the blink of an eye, they all receded into the book and disappeared.

Staring at the blank pages in his hands, Zu'an felt a momentary daze, as if everything he had just witnessed was merely an illusion.

Then, his personal skill system began displaying a series of notifications:

Item: The Book of Ages.Ability: ???Learnable: No.

Zu'an was startled. He knew that his skill system, awakened after acquiring the *Underworld Life and Death Codex*, allowed him to learn abilities from items and creatures by expending large amounts of Rage points upon contact.

Previously, some abilities were unlearnable primarily because the Rage points required were astronomical, making acquisition virtually impossible.

However, being completely unable to learn anything now was truly astonishing. These entities were indeed worthy of being called the supreme True Gods of all realms.

A sudden realization struck him: *Oh no, it seems the entity can read my mind.*

"Oh, you seem to possess something rather interesting," the cluster of starlight shimmered, seemingly piqued with curiosity.

Zu'an suppressed the urge for a torrent of thoughts to spill from his mind. "Before the great, omniscient, and omnipotent True God, nothing is worth mentioning," he stated.

The starlight seemed to form two curved eyes. "That is true," it replied.

Zu'an stifled the urge to comment on the entity's somewhat childish demeanor and quickly changed the subject. "I've encountered the previous Historian of Ages," he began. "He seemed capable of directly altering everyone's memories. Why do I not possess any such ability?"

Refusing was never an option. Given such an extreme power disparity, he would have to be out of his mind to provoke the entity.

Moreover, with the identity of Historian of Ages and the protection of a True God, he might even be able to act with impunity in the future.

"Oh, do you like that ability? Perhaps I should restore it?" The starlight shifted, its tone tinged with amusement.

Zu'an’s heart stirred, and he quickly responded, "Since this is a gift from you, I will cherish it as a supreme treasure, regardless of its nature."

The starlight let out a cold snort. "Your flattery isn't very clever. How could anything I bestow be 'bad'? Pick up both the Spring and Autumn Pen and the Book of Ages simultaneously, and feel them again."

Zu'an did as instructed, holding the pen in one hand and the book in the other. A sudden realization immediately dawned on him.

Spring and Autumn Pen and Book of Ages Combo Skill: Existence. That which exists is reasonable. Anything written in the book with the Spring and Autumn Pen will become reality.Note: The written content must be reasonable and logical. If it is too bizarre or easily discernible as false, the skill will fail.

Upon seeing this, Zu'an’s breath hitched. This skill seemed incredibly powerful, almost defying the heavens.

He actually possessed a similar ability through his skill, [Jian Lai], but its cost was prohibitively high; each use left him on the verge of death.

This new skill, however, appeared to require no such cost. The only caveat was the logical consistency of what was written.

He couldn't resist asking, "Great God of Chaos and Mystery, may I write in this book that I become a True God like yourself?"

"What do you think?" the starlight retorted, not showing anger, but rather amusement at his audacious thought.

"Probably not," Zu'an chuckled awkwardly, then pressed on, "So, as long as it's reasonable, anything I write will become reality?"

"You can interpret it that way," Mieli's voice echoed from all directions. "However, be aware that if you write something directly targeting certain entities, the stronger the target, the less likely you are to succeed. Should you fail, you will suffer a backlash: minor attempts might result in severe injury, while major ones could lead to complete annihilation. Therefore, exercise extreme caution when writing."

Zu'an nodded inwardly. Without any limitations, the Historian of Ages would indeed be invincible. Other True God followers likely possessed different miraculous abilities.

A thought struck him: "I'll try something first."

With that, he picked up the Spring and Autumn Pen and began to write furiously in the book.

"Starting to write so soon?" Mieli, being a True God, felt a surge of curiosity about what he was inscribing.

Soon, he finished writing. Mieli had already discerned the content: "On a certain date, Zu'an received an audience and appreciation from the great God of Chaos and Mystery, who bestowed upon him a status and abilities distinct from those of an ordinary Historian of Ages, appointing him a Divine Emissary of Chaos and Mystery."

He had previously heard that, beyond their regular followers, True Gods also had Divine Emissaries who, to some extent, represented their authority, traveling through various worlds much like imperial envoys.

The status and abilities of Divine Emissaries were far superior to those of ordinary believers.

He was one to seize opportunities, especially when sensing that the entity held no ill will toward him, but rather a degree of appreciation. Thus, he decided to take a chance.

After all, most of what he had written was true. The single falsehood, he reasoned, would become reality as long as Mieli did not object.

After all, True Gods also had their pride. If an ability they had just granted failed on its very first use, it would surely be an embarrassment for them... wouldn't it?

Mieli remained silent.

"You truly dared to write that!" The cluster of starlight trembled violently, as if its processing unit had momentarily burned out.

A sincere smile spread across Zu'an's face. "Great God of Chaos and Mystery," he said, "I felt your favor toward me, along with treatment unlike that of a typical Historian of Ages. Did I misunderstand?"

"You are quite interesting, much more entertaining than those dull, rigid predecessors," the entity responded. "However, your audacity is a bit extreme, daring even to trifle with me."

A beam of starlight suddenly descended upon the history book, and the content on its pages quickly transformed.

Zu'an looked down and saw that the character "Acting" had been added, making it "Acting Divine Emissary."

Mieli's voice resonated. "Being a true Divine Emissary is not so simple," it declared. "Given your impressive feats of altering history in those past worlds, I will grant you the position of Acting Divine Emissary. If you offer me more such excellent deeds in the future, you will naturally have the opportunity to become a full Divine Emissary."

A great weight lifted from Zu'an's mind. "Thank you, great God of Chaos and Mystery!" he exclaimed.
