Chapter 2526: Revenge

Zu An was equally puzzled. "I don't know what's going on either..."

Yu Men Beiqing quickly said, "Try activating it to see the effect. These divine lights, after becoming an immortal, have a huge role. You can think of them as a special domain. Against someone without divine light, there's an absolute suppression. Even among immortals, higher-level divine lights can suppress lower-level ones."

Zu An was startled by her words and instinctively activated his divine light.

Enveloped in the colors of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple, he was quickly shrouded in a rainbow of light, making his appearance completely indistinguishable.

Yu Men Beiqing and the Mermaid Queen leaned in, trying to get a closer look, when suddenly their vision flashed, and then they vanished without a trace.

Zu An was stunned by this, his expression instantly becoming strange.

With a thought, the multicolored light flashed, and the two women reappeared where they had been.

The Mermaid Queen immediately looked excited, exclaiming joyfully, "I seemed to have been in a colorful space just now! I felt disoriented and couldn't move at all. How did you do that, Brother Zu?"

In contrast to her excitement, Yu Men Beiqing was somewhat horrified. Although she hadn't been on guard, the ease with which she was drawn into a mysterious space sent a chill down her spine.

"This might be the effect of my divine light," Zu An mused, realizing it seemed similar to Kong Xuan's Five-Colored Divine Light from "Investiture of the Gods." What was the purpose of the two extra colors, then?

"Your divine light is indeed very unique," Yu Men Beiqing said, looking preoccupied.

"Sister Ling'er, how do you know so much about immortals?" Zu An asked curiously. He was still bewildered despite having become an immortal, yet she knew far more than him.

Yu Men Beiqing forced a smile. "When I was with the demon tribe, their priests had some ancient texts passed down through generations. I read about it there, though I don't know if it's true."

"I see," Zu An thought. It seemed these ancient texts had been lost to history, as he hadn't heard the Little Demon Empress mention them in later times.

The Mermaid Queen, however, felt relieved. No wonder the Saintess knew so much.

Zu An suddenly looked in another direction. "Oh no, Brother Yi was still fighting that Drum just now. I wonder how things are going for him."

Yu Men Beiqing hesitated, but Zu An didn't wait. He took the two women and flew towards that direction.

As they moved, they transformed into a streak of rainbow light.

In what felt like the blink of an eye, they arrived at the spot where Yi and Drum had been fighting.

Zu An himself was stunned. How could his speed be so incredibly fast?

This location was far beyond the range of his teleportation ability from where he had just undergone his tribulation.

Yu Men Beiqing, however, looked shocked. "Rainbow Transformation Technique!"

The Mermaid Queen asked, puzzled, "What is the Rainbow Transformation Technique?"

"As the name suggests, it's like a rainbow hanging across the sky. It's a special movement technique known only to some legendary top-tier powerful beings, particularly effective for escaping," Yu Men Beiqing paused, staring at Zu An for a moment before continuing, "However, your recent use seemed a bit unpracticed. When this technique is cultivated to its peak, it's one of the greatest arts in the world. As long as you wish to escape, almost no one can catch you."

Zu An's eyes immediately lit up. "I like that feature! It seems I'll need to practice it more in the future."

He then looked around. "Hmm, where's Brother Yi? Even that giant snake is gone."

His tone was initially light, but gradually, his expression grew serious.

There were many signs of struggle nearby, and even a significant amount of blood splattered across the broken trees in the mountain forest.

Scattered scales on the ground indicated that they primarily belonged to Drum.

Evidently, Yi had held the upper hand in the battle.

But why had his winning streak suddenly been interrupted?

He stopped by a large crater where trees were broken, rocks lay shattered everywhere, and the ground was covered with signs of struggle.

He could roughly reconstruct the scene: Yi had likely been riding on Drum's back, delivering a severe beating, when something unexpected occurred, causing the assault to cease.

He quickly moved to a distant spot where the air was still hot. The stones and soil on the ground showed signs of crystallization, indicating they had been subjected to extreme heat.

"Brother Zu, did you find anything?" the Mermaid Queen asked, approaching him.

"Brother Yi has likely met with misfortune," Zu An said gravely. As the Lord of the Underworld, he was extremely sensitive to death. A lingering aura of death permeated the area, and the active fire elements clearly weren't from Yi. A third entity must have been present.

Yu Men Beiqing's expression subtly changed. She knew what had happened, of course, but she was surprised by Zu An's astuteness. Even though Di Jun had destroyed all traces, Zu An had still pieced together most of the events.

"Did either of you notice anything unusual just now?" Zu An asked the two women. He had been entirely focused on dealing with the Heavenly Tribulation and hadn't had the energy to observe his surroundings.

"A golden light seemed to flash over here just now, and there was a terrifying aura that descended, but it disappeared quickly," the Mermaid Queen recalled, apologizing. "My attention was on you at the time, so I didn't pay much heed to this side."

Yu Men Beiqing, seeing him look at her, replied, "I'm much the same as her. My focus was also on you, and we were too far away to know what happened over there."

In a different situation, she wouldn't have minded exposing Di Jun; after all, their marriage had long been a facade.

However, doing so could easily backfire on her. Secondly, she worried that Zu An might extend his hatred to Di Jun's sons...

At this thought, her face suddenly turned pale. Could this be why Yi shot down the suns in history?

No, no, Yi was already dead; history might have already changed.

She kept reassuring herself.

Meanwhile, Zu An stared at the crystallized ground, lost in thought. Golden light, intense fire elements, and the ability to kill the powerful Yi... Could it be...?

Seeing his solemn expression, Yu Men Beiqing quickly asked, "This has nothing to do with us, right? And in a sense, it's not a bad thing. Isn't the Mermaid Queen currently Chang'e, the Saintess of the Chang clan? She's engaged to Yi and didn't know what to do. Now, she won't have to worry about any of that."

The Mermaid Queen frowned slightly. "While I didn't want to marry him, I certainly didn't wish for him to die here."

"Exactly," Zu An nodded. "Brother Yi intervened to save us this time. In a way, he took the fall for us. If it weren't for him, I might be the one dead right now. I must avenge him!"

"But we don't even know who the enemy is now. How can we avenge him?" the Mermaid Queen worried.

Zu An fell silent, deep in thought. Behind him, Yu Men Beiqing's eyes narrowed slightly, and the fingers hidden within her sleeves gradually sharpened.
