Chapter 2491: Coercion

Novel:

Zu An: "???"

He had been leisurely watching the spectacle, mostly curious about how the Lord of Slaughter had managed to escape in history. Who knew he would get entangled in the situation again.

At that moment, the many demons in the great hall were also startled, all looking towards the source of the sound. They saw a man and a woman standing at the main entrance.

Upon seeing the man's appearance, the Lord of Demons' expression subtly shifted. It was Mogard? Mogard had been a renowned master on par with him many years ago. Although the Lord of Demons had made significant progress in recent years, he still regarded Mogard with considerable apprehension. Hadn't he died among the Sea Clan? Why was he here? And why did he look so strange? He lacked his usual vigor and appeared somewhat aged. Who was the woman beside him? Why was her gaze filled with such hatred toward him? Her face seemed somewhat familiar, yet he couldn't recall where he had seen her before. He wasn't the only one; other demons present shared the same confusion.

"Brother Mo!" The Lord of Slaughter was overjoyed to see Mogard. At the same time, a pang of regret struck him. Many years ago, Mogard had warned him that the Lord of Demons was ambitious and harbored treacherous intentions, but at the time, he had dismissed it as a mere attempt to gain favor and had grown increasingly distant from him. Only now did he realize who had been truly loyal. Having previously heard the terrible news of Mogard's forces being annihilated among the Sea Clan, he had presumed the worst. Seeing him safe and sound now brought him immense relief.

"Ah, the Unholy King," the Lord of Demons had been startled at first glance. However, after probing with his divine sense and realizing that Mogard was accompanied only by a young woman and that his aura seemed greatly diminished, he completely relaxed. "I was concerned for you when I heard about your forces being annihilated among the Sea Clan. It truly gladdens me to see you safe and sound."

"You dog, why the pretense?" Mogard's expression was grim.

"You're right. Actually, at this point, there's no need for me to keep up the charade; pretending for so many years has grown tiresome," the Lord of Demons said, his gaze falling upon the woman beside Mogard. "And who is this? She looks somewhat familiar."

"Of course she looks familiar, because she is..." Mogard began, but Salame swiftly interjected, stopping him. Clearly, the knowledge from the future was a valuable trump card that shouldn't be revealed prematurely.

She gazed at the Lord of Slaughter, her heart pounding with immense excitement at finally seeing her father after so many years. Yet, she strongly suppressed any outward sign of emotion. Then, looking around, she stated, "I know you're here. If you don't show yourself, we'll all die together."

Zu An resumed his human form and slowly emerged from the shadows. To prevent future complications, he wore a mask over his face.

The other powerful demon generals were all startled. When had someone else been hiding here?

The Lord of Demons' expression, however, showed no surprise. "I've been wondering which other powerful subordinate of the master was lurking in the shadows. It seems I worried for nothing." He had been covertly on guard, even holding back from unleashing his full power against the Lord of Slaughter, fearing a sudden sneak attack from this hidden individual. This individual seemed to be the one who had approached him earlier, seeking cooperation against the Lord of Slaughter.

The Lord of Slaughter evidently held the same belief, thinking Zu An was a subordinate of the Lord of Demons. Both supreme powerhouses had detected his presence, but due to various reservations, neither had acknowledged his existence aloud.

Zu An ignored the two demons, instead glaring at Salame with a troubled expression. "How did you get out? And where is the Princess?" Her presence here clearly indicated something unexpected had happened with Sorencia. Fearing an impact on history, he deliberately avoided mentioning Sorencia by name.

"That foolish woman is, of course, in my hands," Salame said with a triumphant smile. "And why do you only care about her? Haven't you thought about those others you haven't contacted in a long time?"

Zu An's heart sank. Indeed, he hadn't heard from Manman or Ji Xiaoxi in a long time. However, with Jiang Luofu and Yun Yuqing by Xiaoxi's side, she should be able to protect herself. This thought somewhat calmed him. "You're trying to trick me. Unfortunately, I'm not so easily fooled."

"Believe it or not, just don't regret it later," Salame retorted, showing no eagerness to explain, seemingly very confident.

Zu An frowned slightly. Given her demeanor, could Manman's disappearance be her doing? "First, tell me the exact situation, then I'll decide whether to help."

Salame's expression hardened. "You have no choice. Whether it's for your lovers, or to ensure everything aligns with... future developments, you can only help."

Zu An understood her meaning. Historically, the Lord of Slaughter did not die at the hands of the Lord of Demons. Therefore, to prevent historical disruption and any unforeseen future changes, he had to escape this predicament today. And currently, it seemed he was the only one capable of achieving this. For a moment, he felt a sense of disorientation. It was said that history influenced and determined the future, but now it seemed as though the future was also influencing and participating in history.

"Who exactly are you people?" The Lord of Demons' face twitched slightly. When had he ever been ignored so brazenly?

Zu An offered a slight smile. "We are merely transient visitors."

"No matter what kind of visitors you are, you won't be leaving today!" With a glance from the Lord of Demons, the nearest Fetal Mother Demonic Worm and Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable lunged at Zu An from left and right.

The Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable had a head on each of its numerous legs, and these heads all extended their respective limbs, attacking Zu An from every direction. Black poisonous mist sprayed from each mouth, almost instantaneously enveloping the target. Seeing this, everyone secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable's true form was a colossal centipede, and its black mists were highly toxic. Even other demon generals, if enveloped by such a concentration of poison, would be reduced to a pool of putrid blood.

However, their smiles quickly froze as the dense poisonous mist visibly dissipated in an instant. Immediately afterward, the mysterious figure surged forth. With a flash of cold light, dozens of the Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable's legs were instantly severed. The severed legs fell to the ground, their attached heads screaming in agony before rapidly shriveling into silent skeletons.

At this moment, the Fetal Mother Demonic Worm also launched its attack. Moving with incredible speed, it transformed into four distinct figures, assailing its opponent simultaneously from multiple directions, like crimson lightning tearing through the very fabric of space. Despite witnessing the Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable's gruesome fate, the Fetal Mother Demonic Worm remained completely unperturbed. Its innate ability granted it an increasing advantage the longer the battle dragged on. As its clones multiplied, it would become invincible. For its opponent to defeat it, they would have to instantly annihilate all its current clones simultaneously at the very outset. The Lord of Slaughter and the Lord of Demons might be capable of that, but they wouldn't know the necessity of destroying all my clones simultaneously. This newcomer, whose aura didn't seem particularly powerful, could he possibly dispatch me in an instant?

No sooner had this thought formed than he saw a massive cloud of black mist. It was the poisonous mist that the Ten-Thousand-Legged Venerable had just unleashed with its full power. Almost instantaneously, the surrounding space was saturated with this toxic mist. No matter how swift it was, it couldn't fully evade it. All four of its clones simultaneously plummeted from the air to the ground, utterly stiff.
