Chapter 2303: The Eldest Miss

Zu An was a little confused and wanted to ask what exactly was going on. While the Ten Thousand Transformations technique allowed him to perfectly replicate the appearance of his target, memories were something it couldn't copy. Therefore, he didn't recognize the person in front of him at all, let alone what the man was talking about.

Sensing his hesitation, the black-robed demon said in a deep voice, "What, is it not going smoothly?"

Zu An's heart stirred, and he deliberately replied, "Indeed, it's not going smoothly!"

"Donall, you've disappointed me too much!" The black-robed demon's expression darkened.

Rage from Mo Gaode +199199199...

Zu An now clearly saw the other party's appearance: though humanoid, his face was grim, like a middle-aged man burdened by profound grievances. The rage system revealed that this person was called Mo Gaode. Zu An had deliberately spoken that way just to provoke him and learn his identity. At least he knew the name now. However, he still had no idea what "that matter" was.

But he didn't panic; instead, he continued, "There's a Regent King in that world who is incredibly formidable."

Hearing his words, the black-robed Mo Gaode, who had been furious, fell silent. After a long moment, he sighed, "That Regent King is indeed formidable. All three armies dispatched by the Demon Lord ended in failure. Many of those demons were not inferior to me in cultivation, yet they all died at his hands. Who would have thought such a powerful figure would emerge from a weak world?"

"I think that world seems quite unusual. Any other world that weak should have been conquered by us long ago," Zu An said. He was worried Mo Gaode would ask about the demon world, as he knew nothing about it. He had to steer the conversation toward the cultivation world, where he had more to say, hoping to glean more information.

As expected, Mo Gaode blurted out, "Of course that world isn't ordinary. Otherwise, our master wouldn't have launched such a massive invasion of it back then, gotten bogged down there, and ultimately allowed this demon world to fall under the control of the current Demon Lord."

Zu An's heart jolted. He had only intended to guide the conversation, never expecting such a revelation. Who was the "master" he spoke of? Invaded massively back then, then got bogged down in the cultivation world... He ran through all the figures he remembered in his mind, and suddenly, the image of the Lord of Slaughter came to him. To be called "master" by Mo Gaode, he was clearly also a demon. From Mo Gaode's words, it was clear that this master was the previous Demon Lord. The only one with such prestige and power was clearly the Lord of Slaughter, and the fact that he had been suppressed under the snowy mountain for countless years perfectly matched the description. Did he want Donall to rescue the Lord of Slaughter? Although he was eighty percent sure, he dared not state it directly. If he guessed wrong, all his efforts would be for naught.

"Now that the Regent King wields the world's authority, it will probably be as hard as ascending to heaven for us to enter that world again," Zu An said, following his lead.

"Heh heh, you're still playing these little games with me. It's indeed difficult to enter that world through normal means, but don't you have the ancient inheritance of the True Demon clan, allowing you to secretly sneak into that world?" Mo Gaode stared fixedly at him.

Zu An gave an awkward laugh and offered no explanation, waiting for the other party to reveal more information. As expected, seeing his demeanor, Mo Gaode snorted coldly, "Are you still harboring fantasies about the Demon Lord, wavering here?"

Zu An said with some "embarrassment," "You're overthinking it."

Mo Gaode's doubts were not dispelled by his words. He continued, "You should know that when the Doomsday Beast descended a thousand years ago, everyone placed all their hopes on the Demon Lord. But what has he accomplished in the past thousand years? Not only has he failed to defeat the Doomsday Beast, but our defenses have also been steadily shrinking. All cities and strongholds on the surface have been destroyed, forcing us to hide in this sunless underground."

Zu An glanced at the artificial sun in the distance. Mo Gaode snorted, "What's the use of creating such a sun? It's just to placate everyone and only wastes our scarce resources. Haven't you noticed that daylight hours are getting shorter every day?"

"Indeed," Zu An thought. *How would I know, having just arrived?* But logically, with dwindling resources, this world would surely soon be unable to afford the vast energy required by that artificial sun.

"Hmph, they've been tampering with it. A slight reduction in daylight each day isn't obvious yet, but it won't be long before more and more people notice," Mo Gaode continued. "Precisely because of the Demon Lord's incompetence, coupled with the complete failure of his so-called 'migration plan' a while ago, people's minds are now turning."

*The migration plan,* Zu An thought, *does that refer to moving and exchanging homes with the cultivation world?* Back then, the three armies had advanced simultaneously, full of vigor and ambition. He was truly fortunate to have been able to defeat them one by one. And Chu Yan, Hong Lei, and others had almost sacrificed their lives for it...

"More and more people are dissatisfied with the Demon Lord now, which is why I've been able to secretly contact so many. As long as we bring back our master, it will be time to set things right!" Mo Gaode's expression grew particularly agitated as he spoke.

"Who else is involved?" Zu An asked.

Mo Gaode looked at him warily. "I can't tell you that."

"Are you afraid I'll betray you?" Zu An smiled.

"It's not a matter of trust or distrust; it's about being responsible for everyone's safety," Mo Gaode snorted. "If others inquire about similar information, I won't mention you either. That's how everyone feels secure working with me."

Zu An gave a thumbs-up. "Impressive!"

Mo Gaode was about to say something when his brows suddenly furrowed, as if listening to some sound in the void. After a moment, he said, "Our Young Miss wants to see you."

"Young Miss?" Zu An was startled, completely unprepared for another figure to appear.

"Hmph, it's your honor that the Young Miss is willing to see you. Come with me," Mo Gaode said, then turned and walked away.

Zu An hesitated, unable to grasp the other party's full background for a moment. He had absolutely no information on this "Young Miss." However, realizing that information was what he needed most, and that missing this opportunity might mean not getting another, he quickly transmitted a few words to the women in the cave and followed.

Watching him and Mo Gaode disappear into the distance, Ji Xiaoxi couldn't help but worry, "Will Brother Zu be in danger going there?"

Pei Mianman's expression was strange. "If it were just that Mo Gaode looking for him, there might be some danger. But now that their 'Young Miss' wants to see him, he'll most likely be fine."

"Why?" Ji Xiaoxi blinked, full of confusion.

"Hmph, that guy is naturally irresistible to women; no woman could bear to harm him," Pei Mianman scoffed, her face flushed. The other women nearby nodded in agreement, clearly recalling their own experiences.

Meanwhile, Zu An followed Mo Gaode, winding through the mountain peaks, until they finally stopped in a secluded part of a valley. Mo Gaode looked at him meaningfully. "Donall, it seems your strength has grown since we last met."

Zu An's heart jolted, but his expression remained calm. "I had a small gain in that world."

Mo Gaode didn't seem suspicious; instead, he showed a look of longing, wishing he could personally visit that world. He quickly composed himself and instructed, "The Young Miss is waiting for you in the woods ahead. You must not offend her, or even I won't be able to save you!"

"Of course," Zu An said. Sensing Mo Gaode's apprehension, he wondered if the Young Miss's strength was even greater than Mo Gaode's.

After pointing the way, Mo Gaode stayed outside. This was, after all, the territory of the True Demon clan, and he needed to guard against other demons approaching. Zu An followed a small path into the woods, where he saw a figure sitting in the forest from a distance. It was clearly the Young Miss Mo Gaode had spoken of. After getting a clear look at the other person, his expression suddenly became extremely strange.
