Chapter 993: Silent Prison

"Is anyone there?! Come out and speak!"

Absolute silence can cause hallucinations, a well-established theory proven over countless ages.

The Clown, too, clearly couldn't escape this reality. He had confirmed it time and again: this place was definitely not an illusion. Slapping his own face still caused sharp pain.

Yet, such a place subjected him to unimaginable torment. Even the concepts of time and space began to blur.

"Heh, so you want to play games with me? Alright, I'll cultivate right here and see who can outlast whom!"

It must be admitted, the Clown was arguably the most receptive among the Glorious Team members trained by Xu Yang. His mental fortitude had significantly improved.

Moreover, his ability to adapt had undergone a radical transformation thanks to Xu Yang's guidance. Even when trapped, he didn't lose his composure. Instead, he decisively chose the most beneficial state for himself, allowing him to calm down.

...

The Eye of the Void seemed to be a new arbiter of fate, leading each person who passed through it into vastly different circumstances. It forced them to confront the weakest aspect deep within their own hearts.

Lister lacked strength; Googlash had a profound obsession with information. While calling Mr. and Mrs. Francis mercenary might be harsh—after all, they valued sentiment and loyalty—the fatal flaw exposed deep within them when faced with mountains of gold and silver was truly difficult to describe.

As for the Clown, who always enjoyed toying with others, he had now fallen into a cage specifically designed for him.

And when Gorou Uzumaki, the creator of the Gate of the Void, also awakened his five senses, he was astonished to find himself surrounded by an endless horde of Minotaur warriors.

Leading these Minotaur warriors were three leader-like figures, all clad in armor. These three general-like individuals even bore strikingly similar appearances.

Gorou Uzumaki even suspected they were identical triplets. Each stood over two meters tall: the first held a sky-splitting great axe, the second a halberd, and the third a mountain-splitting giant blade.

The three of them, along with the towering Minotaur warriors behind them, formed a legion that exerted an unimaginable, immense pressure, as if it were a terrifying force from the underworld.

The surrounding space resembled a vast, oppressive purgatorial battlefield, without boundaries or any form of obstruction. It seemed to offer Gorou Uzumaki, the warmonger, ample open space and sufficiently powerful opponents, allowing him to fully unleash his boundless combat desires.

"Welcome to your personal purgatorial battlefield, Mr. Gorou Uzumaki! You claim to be a mighty one from hell; I's curious to see how much strength you can display when true hell descends."

"Heh, so many of you ganging up on one person? That's a bit unfair. If I join in, then this battle might actually be fair."

Just as Gorou Uzumaki was about to make his move, that familiar voice reappeared from behind him. It was Ling Yao.

She had entered the Gate of the Void almost immediately after Xu Yang, but he hadn't expected her to be transported to the same place as him.

"I didn't expect you to come here too. Your presence here significantly lowers the difficulty of this game, which was prepared specifically for me."

Ling Yao snorted with a half-smile, "You absolutely must not underestimate them. Brother A-Yang has provided precise data; these warriors are war puppets created by the higher-ups of the Mysterious Legion.

"They are entirely filled with precise combat data; you can consider them soulless killing machines. The only way to deal with them is complete destruction.

"This significantly increases the difficulty of our operations. Because, theoretically speaking, these individuals have no absolute weaknesses, unlike us, who, possessing souls, naturally have weaknesses."

Gorou Uzumaki sneered, "Those without weaknesses can be suppressed with absolute power."

The next moment, he once again drew the dagger from his waist. The treasured blade that had accompanied him had shattered during his last outburst of concentrated power. The blade Gorou Uzumaki now wielded was a personal treasure Xu Yang had procured for him from the Black Pearl's maritime city treasury.

Undoubtedly, the overall strength of this blade far surpassed Gorou Uzumaki's original one, but it lacked the former's meaning and emotional connection.

Gorou Uzumaki had once said that if his blade ever broke, that would likely be the day his destiny ended.

However, after meeting Xu Yang, Gorou Uzumaki realized he had even higher goals and realms to pursue.

This was precisely the realization he had gained over these past days of cultivating his mind: no longer solely fixated on weapons and power, but instead seeking a loftier direction.

Left and right, Gorou Uzumaki with his blade and Ling Yao with her sword, the two seemed to have unconsciously formed the perfect combination. The moment they simultaneously unleashed their respective powers, they transformed into streaks of light, charging towards this infernal legion of slaughter.

A battle of significant intensity erupted.

Unknown to them, just an hour earlier, Ling Yao had been by Xu Yang's side. After passing through the Eye of the Void, protected by the powerful aura of an angel,

they didn't fall into the soul traps specifically designed for the others. Instead, they arrived with utmost clarity at the true base of this legion.

To Xu Yang and Ling Yao's surprise, the base appeared to be an incredibly complex and precise high-tech laboratory, a presence that undoubtedly did not belong on Yingzhou Continent.

These individuals were all top experts from extraterrestrial civilizations, each wearing a white lab coat and operating intricate energy machines.

Xu Yang briefly used the aura of the Angelic Domain for temporary invisibility, clearly observing all internal operations of this mysterious legion.

And in the deepest part of this incredibly precise laboratory, a white-haired, glasses-wearing mysterious old man, known as 'the Doctor,' was repeatedly calculating precise data.

"Doctor, the marauder legion that previously appeared near the Central Domain's waters has been completely annihilated and fully absorbed by the legion called 'Glory.' It appears they will be our most important research target."
