Barring any unforeseen circumstances, she was destined to live to a ripe old age.
The old woman also felt her previously stiff body suddenly become incredibly light and loose, and she instinctively sat up from the bed.
She was stunned, and tears streamed down her face.
Xu Yang knew this would be her reaction and said with a smile, "Try it. Stand up and walk around."
The old woman listened to Xu Yang, got up from the bed, and walked back and forth on the floor. She was as delighted as a child who had just received a new toy.
Liu Qing and Liu Ming were also visibly excited.
"Thank you, benefactor."
A moment later, suddenly, all three knelt before Xu Yang and said respectfully.
"No need to thank me. From now on, Liu Qing and Liu Ming are my disciples," Xu Yang said, placing a hand on Liu Qing's shoulder.
The old woman looked up at Xu Yang, her face filled with disbelief, and asked.
"Benefactor, do you mean you will teach them your skills?"
"Yes, both of your children have excellent talent for alchemy. I can teach them," Xu Yang replied.
Hearing this, the old woman became even more excited, to the point of being speechless.
She had been paralyzed in bed for a while, but Xu Yang had only touched her, and her illness was completely cured. With such a formidable person teaching her two children, even if they only became herbalists, they would have enough to eat for the rest of their lives.
Suddenly, she remembered the legendary immortals at this moment and was jolted by the realization that the person before her might be an immortal.
"Thank you, benefactor, thank you, benefactor," the old woman stammered incoherently, tears streaming down her face once more as she kowtowed in gratitude.
Liu Qing also looked at Xu Yang with delight. For some reason, she had always harbored a strong desire to practice alchemy. Everyone had always told her she couldn't, but this was the first time someone had told her she *could* practice alchemy, and it was an immortal! She felt as though her dream had suddenly leaped from the distant horizon right before her eyes!
"If I learn alchemy, will I also gain the ability to save people, like you just did for my mother, Master?" Liu Qing walked up to Xu Yang and asked sweetly, having unconsciously started calling him 'Master.'
"What I just did was a minor issue," Xu Yang said with a smile. "If you learn even a thousandth of what I know, bringing the dead back to life and regenerating flesh on bones will be no problem."
"Wang Fangcui, time to pay the rent!" Just as Xu Yang and the others were enjoying themselves, a rough, booming male voice suddenly echoed from outside the door.
Bang...
The next second, the rickety wooden door of the hut was kicked open by a large, hefty foot. The entire hut trembled slightly, creaking and groaning, making it seem as if it might collapse at any moment.
A huge, greasy middle-aged man lumbered in from outside. As soon as he entered, his gaze landed on Liu Qing, his lecherous eyes undisguised.
"Wang Fangcui, with the three acres of land outside and this house, you owe a total of thirty taels of silver this month. Additionally, you've been delinquent on your rent for twelve months. At thirty taels a month, I'll give you a discount, making it five hundred taels of silver."
The man rambled on, his eyes closed.
Xu Yang's mouth twitched. In this remote wilderness, for a dilapidated hut, thirty taels of silver a month? That was outright robbery! As for the five hundred taels, that amount could buy a courtyard house in a bustling city.
Xu Yang narrowed his eyes, watching the fat man's performance.
"Thirty taels of silver? I don't have that much… And besides, wasn't it agreed when we came that it would be three taels of silver a year? Moreover, I stopped renting the land outside a long time ago!" Wang Fangcui said frantically, trying to argue her point.
"Huh, old woman, weren't you paralyzed? How did you get better? You weren't tricking me before, were you?" the corpulent middle-aged man suddenly asked, surprised.
Just then, he turned his gaze to Xu Yang. "Who is this person? Your lover?"
Liu Qing clutched Xu Yang's hand and asked in terror, "Master, what should we do?"
Xu Yang took out a red fruit, took a bite, and said with amusement, "Relax."
His voice, as if by magic, brought the three panicked individuals back to their senses.
"Master? Who are you, little kid?" the corpulent middle-aged man asked, walking up to Xu Yang. "Oh, I see. You couldn't pay the rent, so you sold your daughter, didn't you?"
The fat man grinned lewdly, walked up to Liu Qing, and looked her up and down. "I say, instead of selling her to someone else, why not sell her to me? I'll waive all your outstanding rent, how about that?"
As he spoke, he reached out a hand, intending to pinch Liu Qing's tender cheek.
Suddenly, a hand, like an iron pincer, shot out and clamped firmly onto the fat man's fleshy wrist.
"I'll give you three seconds to get lost!" Xu Yang said coolly.
The fat man tried to pull his hand away, but Xu Yang's grip was immense. His face turned crimson, yet he couldn't move an inch.
"Let go of me! I can spare your life, otherwise..."
Xu Yang raised his other hand high, then slapped it down with a loud crack, hitting the fat man hard across the cheek. The fat on the man's face jiggled back and forth, like a bouncy ball.
"Get out, now! Or I'll make your head spin three hundred and sixty degrees," Xu Yang said blandly, releasing the fat man's hand.
The fat man rubbed his numb, stinging cheek, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes. When had he ever suffered such humiliation? He immediately pulled a large machete from behind his back and swung it towards Xu Yang's head.
"Why are there always so many people seeking death these days?" Xu Yang sighed, grabbing the fat man. He lifted the man by his head and twisted. With a sickening crack, the fat man's head spun a full three hundred and sixty degrees.
After Xu Yang released him, the fat man collapsed limply to the ground.
Wang Fangcui and the others were utterly terrified, staring at the corpse on the ground, at a loss for what to do. Liu Qing, having witnessed Xu Yang's more brutal methods of killing, remained relatively calm. In Liu Ming's eyes, however, there was no fear, but rather a good deal of satisfaction.
"Benefactor, you must flee quickly! They will report this to the authorities," Wang Fangcui said, her face filled with anxiety.
Xu Yang was somewhat speechless but offered no explanation, merely asking, "Do you know where this fat man lives?"
Wang Fangcui looked stunned and asked, "Benefactor, why do you ask that?"
Xu Yang took out another fruit and calmly took a bite. "I'm going to kill his whole family."
Wang Fangcui was utterly dumbfounded upon hearing this, her lips trembling as she struggled to find words.
Xu Yang chuckled. He was, of course, merely teasing Wang Fangcui. There were too many bad people in the world, and he didn't concern himself with them. As long as they didn't provoke Xu Yang, he didn't care.
