Chapter 1760: The Disaster at Donghuamen

Those in the Golden Core realm were no more than ants in Xu Yang's eyes. As for Long Kun and his two companions, their physical strength had reached its profound current level only after undergoing countless refinements.

Although they hadn't integrated into this martial artist cultivation system, the power they possessed was far beyond anything cultivators of the Ancient Martial God Dao could match. This, however, offered an advantage: Xu Yang and his three companions didn't need to worry about easily exposing their true strength.

The Law Enforcement Elder put down his brush, slowly rose, and walked towards Xu Yang and his three companions. As he did so, he continuously released a faint stream of spiritual energy, attempting to test them.

Xu Yang maintained a calm and composed demeanor, but Long Kun and Ling Yao beside him could barely suppress their laughter. Any one of them possessed spiritual energy thousands of times stronger than that of the peak Golden Core Law Enforcement Elder before them.

Feeling his spiritual energy, as weak and buzzing as a mosquito, and his preposterous attempt to envelop them with it, they found it utterly hilarious.

The Law Enforcement Elder circled Xu Yang and his three companions a few times, then adopted a profound expression, stroked his beard, and stood still.

“Your aptitudes are all quite good, but unfortunately, you have no cultivation foundation whatsoever.”

Long Kun snorted with laughter, bursting out. Fortunately, Xu Yang promptly released a stream of spiritual energy, helping him suppress the surging restless emotions in his soul world, which immediately restored his composure.

“What are you laughing at? Is my judgment incorrect?”

Ling Yao, the girl, decisively stepped forward, cupped her fists at the Law Enforcement Elder, and spoke respectfully.

“Elder, you've misunderstood. This fool, surnamed Long, is the dullest among us four. We've always said his talent is poor. We never expected the Elder to be able to see his merits. He was probably just so overjoyed that he couldn't help but laugh.”

The Law Enforcement Elder heard Ling Yao's vague explanation and, far from noticing any flaws, stroked his beard with satisfaction.

“There's no need for you to feel inferior. Strength can be gradually improved through effort. Although you've started a bit late, your talents are good. From now on, you will be under my tutelage. No disciple in Donghua Gate would dare to bully you.

However, let me make one thing clear: if any of you dare to cause trouble, don't blame me for expelling you from the sect, regardless of our master-disciple relationship.”

In short, Xu Yang and his three companions played along with the ignorant Law Enforcement Elder for half a day, finally gaining entry into Donghua Gate as outer disciples.

What Xu Yang and his three companions didn't expect, however, was that just three days after their entry, a catastrophe suddenly befell Donghua Gate. The bells outside the mountain gate began to echo, peal after peal.

These were the bells that rang only when Donghua Gate was under external invasion. Immediately, hundreds of Donghua Gate disciples rapidly assembled outside the Law Enforcement Hall. As these were all registered inner disciples with clear team assignments for their daily activities, stipends, and benefits, they quickly dispersed after receiving their tasks to guard the mountain gate.

Just as the Law Enforcement Elder and several other elders of the sect were about to leave, they noticed that Xu Yang and his three companions at the very back of the group had not received any task assignments.

“Master, what about us four? All the other senior and junior brothers have received their tasks and left.”

Long Kun quickly approached the Elder and inquired. Only then did the Elder remember that he had taken in four disciples two days prior but hadn't yet assigned them any tasks.

After pondering for a long while, the Elder sighed lightly.

“Your cultivation is too poor. You've only just joined and haven't even practiced basic martial arts techniques. Going out would just be suicide, wouldn't it? Stay here in the Law Enforcement Hall. Wait until the other disciples return victorious. Until then, don't go anywhere!”

Long Kun shrugged helplessly, turned around, and exchanged glances with Xu Yang and his two companions. All of them wore expressions of resignation.

The Law Enforcement Elder probably never dreamed that he had just implicated himself in this invasion of Donghua Gate, and by none other than Xuanhuang Gate, the fourth-ranked sect in the entire Congyun Province!

Three old monsters at the late Nascent Soul stage arrived, along with a thousand disciples. In less than an hour, they utterly annihilated Donghua Gate, which had been established for hundreds of years. Even the Law Enforcement Elder, who had been their master for only three days, was shattered into pieces and instantly turned to dust by one of the Nascent Soul level old guys.

With nothing else to do, Xu Yang and his three companions obeyed their master's instructions and remained guarding the entrance of the Law Enforcement Hall.

An hour later, an old man in the Nascent Soul stage suddenly flew over. With white hair and beard, emanating a murderous aura, he was none other than Taiguang, the Third Elder of Xuanhuang Gate, who led this invasion of Donghua Gate.

Even within Xuanhuang Gate, Elder Taiguang was notorious for his ruthless methods and fearsome reputation. Ordinarily, even inner disciples of Xuanhuang Gate wouldn't dare to provoke him. Now, he was heading straight for Donghua Gate's Law Enforcement Hall, clearly intending to loot some spoils of war.

After the old man landed steadily, he happened to see Xu Yang and his three bored companions sitting cross-legged at the entrance of the Law Enforcement Hall. The late Nascent Soul stage old man glanced at them and, realizing they had absolutely no cultivation foundation, a cold, disdainful sneer played on his lips.

“It's clear you four must be newly admitted disciples of Donghua Gate. You have no cultivation whatsoever. With such a powerful enemy at hand, you weren't even deemed worthy to fight and were instead assigned to wait for death here in the Law Enforcement Hall. Quite pathetic, I suppose.

You four probably don't know yet, but Donghua Gate has been utterly wiped out by our Xuanhuang Gate. All your fellow disciples and elders have turned to dust. As it stands, you four are probably the only ones left alive.”

Long Kun's eyes widened, and he stared incredulously at the Nascent Soul level old monster before him.

“Damn it, we can't be this unlucky! We just joined Donghua Gate, and the sect is already wiped out. Boss, do you think our fate stars are clashing with Donghua Gate’s destiny or something?”

Xu Yang didn't even bother to open his eyes, having no intention of responding to Long Kun. He simply ignored his companion's teasing. However, Ling Yao beside him revealed a sly smile.

“Don't drag the Boss into everything. But you're not wrong, our judgment in choosing sects has truly been terrible.”

They continued chatting amongst themselves, completely unconcerned that a Nascent Soul stage old monster was standing just a few dozen paces away. This was hardly the behavior expected of newly admitted disciples.
