Chapter 135: Liu Yangpei's Notes

"I've only been at the temple for three years, so Elder Liu might have handled guests previously."The young monk quickly offered an explanation for Chen Mobai's comment, and Chen Mobai felt a sense of relief.

"Perhaps I could help you organize them?"

"Oh... thank you, Benefactor." He was certainly willing to accept the help.

Chen Mobai told Tang Pancui to continue eating, then got up and went with the young monk to sort through the belongings.

"Has Elder Liu always been at your Taiwu Temple?"

"Yes, Elder Liu was considered one of the most senior members of our Taiwu Temple. He and our abbot referred to each other as brothers. However, he was a recluse. For years, he handled various odd jobs around the temple and enjoyed collecting herbs in the mountains, often staying away for over ten days at a time."

As they spoke, they arrived at Liu Lengpei's room. Upon opening the door, they saw a simple bed, a table, a wardrobe, and a storage cabinet. However, rows of bookshelves lined the walls, filled with a wide variety of books. These included books on Immortal Sect history, legal and administrative policies, introductions to Daoist academies, numerous cultivation technique manuals available on the market, spell books, and even methods for crafting talismans and alchemy.

"Elder Liu was also our temple's physician. Whenever anyone had a headache or fever, he would prepare herbal remedies for them, and they were quite effective."

As the young monk spoke, he spread the quilt from the bed onto the floor. He then placed clothes, medicine pots, bowls, and other miscellaneous items from the room onto it, preparing to bundle everything up for disposal and collection by the geomancers.

"Are these needed as well?" Chen Mobai pointed to the nearly one hundred books lined up on the shelves. He thought he might find some clues within them regarding why this Five Elements Sect cultivator from the Tianhe Realm had come to Diyuan Star.

"No, they're not needed. The abbot said to dispose of everything." The young monk, tidying clothes, looked up, saw the books, and immediately shook his head.

"Then I'll help organize these."

Chen Mobai took the mat from the bed and, imitating the young monk, spread it on the floor. He then began taking the books from the shelves, one by one. Using his spiritual sense, he briefly scanned each book. After confirming there were no hidden papers or contents, he placed them on the mat.

After about half an hour of work, he finally finished organizing all the books from the shelves and discovered three or four blank notebooks. These notebooks were very unusual. Although they appeared blank, many pages were creased, as if they had been repeatedly turned and written on. As he activated his spiritual sense, he uncovered a clue. These notebooks contained writing in a special ink, which likely required a unique solution to become visible. Alternatively, viewing the handwriting with spiritual sense made it even clearer.

"What was Elder Liu Lengpei's cultivation level during his lifetime?"

"Late Qi Condensation stage. I don't know the exact layer, but I heard the abbot say that Elder Liu had the highest cultivation among everyone at our Taiwu Temple."

Chen Mobai's expression showed his understanding. Since the abbot was only at Qi Condensation Layer Six, Liu Lengpei's method of hiding his notes ensured that even if someone accidentally stumbled upon them in Taiwu Temple, they wouldn't be able to read their contents.

"It just so happens that I'm currently practicing talisman crafting and need some notebooks for drafts. Perhaps you could let me have these. I'd be willing to donate some additional merit points to the temple as an offering."

"Oh no, Benefactor, if you need them, please take them." The young monk quickly shook his head upon hearing this. They were just a few blank notebooks and weren't worth anything.

"Where is your Taiwu Temple's waste disposal area? I can use a spell to help you transport these items there."

As he spoke, Chen Mobai activated a levitation spell. Carrying the bundled quilt and mat, and guided by the young monk, he deposited all the items in an empty field south of the temple.

"Thank you, Benefactor." The young monk was only at Qi Condensation Layer Three. Without Chen Mobai's help, it would have taken him at least two trips to dispose of everything. Now that it was handled so easily, he looked delighted.

On the way home, Tang Pancui looked at the notebooks in Chen Mobai's hand with disdain. *Things belonging to a dead person were unlucky.* Chen Mobai simply rolled his eyes and pretended not to hear her.

Back in Qingshan Village, Chen Mobai sat on a lounge chair in his courtyard and began to decipher the diaries written with invisible ink, using his spiritual sense.

"Received news from my junior brother: Grand Ancestor Hunyuan has passed away. The Wood and Metal factions intend to rebel and split the sect. As a disciple of the Five Elements Sect, I absolutely cannot allow this to happen. On the way, I encountered a senior brother from the Metal faction. After a struggle, although I defeated my opponent, I was severely wounded and had to find a mountain with a faint spiritual aura to recuperate. The mountain was nameless, but at the core of the spiritual vein on its peak stood a Taiwu Temple. I entered it and healed beneath the divine statue, but upon waking, I found myself in a different continent. Sect legends claim that the Tianhe Realm was originally a vast ocean. After the Water Mother cultivated to the Void Refinement stage and integrated with the Dao, she created the Five Continents and Four Seas. I never imagined it would be true. I don't know if this is a blessing or a curse for me. I hope the cultivators of this foreign land are not demonic cultivators."

Reading to this point, Chen Mobai noticed that Liu Lengpei seemed to have paused for a long time before continuing his diary. The subsequent entries were scribbled, indicating Liu Lengpei's immense shock at the time of writing.

"This isn't the Tianhe Realm! It's an alien world called Diyuan Star. Hundreds of millions of humans here all possess spiritual roots and practice Qi Condensation cultivation. The entire Tianhe Realm probably doesn't have this many cultivators combined. The sect ruling this world is called the 'Immortal Sect,' and it even has two rumored Spirit Transformation True Monarchs and over ten Nascent Soul cultivators. Could this be the Immortal Realm?"

After this entry, there was another long pause before new content was added.

"I've learned that the Immortal Sect launches 'expansion wars' periodically. I absolutely cannot let them know about the Tianhe Realm's existence. Otherwise, with the Eastern Barrens as their invasion anchor point, the strongest Five Elements Sect would surely be annihilated. I don't have an identification card, so I can only wander in the villages outside the city. I dare not enter the rumored Thirty-Six Grotto-Heavens and Seventy-Two Blessed Lands. I've heard that Golden Core Ancestors reside in these immortal cities."

Chen Mobai read to this point, which marked the end of one notebook. It described Liu Lengpei's astonishment at the Immortal Sect and his meticulous efforts to gather information about it while staying outside the city. As an unregistered resident, he couldn't even buy a phone or access the internet. After understanding the Immortal Sect's system and learning that two Golden Core True Persons resided in the nearby Danxia City, he dared not attempt any theft and could only retreat into the Taiwu Mountain Range.

Chen Mobai then picked up the second notebook and finally discovered what happened after Liu Lengpei entered Taiwu Temple.

"I've learned that there's also a Taiwu Temple in this mountain. My arrival in this world might be connected to this temple, so I need to find a way to blend in."
