My original intention for writing this book was simply to provide entertainment for everyone in their leisure time. Beyond that, I hope that as the plot unfolds, it can stir your emotions—whether it's eliciting laughter, prompting reflection, or even moments of thoughtful silence. If it can achieve that, then it would be truly wonderful! And if not, at least you'll have had a good laugh, and that's a win in itself!

Regarding the supporting characters, my initial intention was that not everyone would simply revolve around the protagonist, whether his name is Xu Xiaoshou or anything else. My approach is to first establish each character's personality, and then, at the opportune moment, they make their grand entrance. My goal is for every character, once introduced, to actively advance the plot. There's a fine line between genius and madness. The moment my characters become unremarkable, it likely means I've lost my passion!
