Chapter 83: The Goodwill of the Mystical Sect

Cao Ye and Dong Shuye were waiting together at the Nine Star Sect’s stronghold. They had received news last night that Luo Ji had engaged the Overmountain Tiger. One was a second-level cultivator, the other a third-level, but their combat movements were comparable to an ordinary fifth-level cultivator.

The subsequent news surprised them. Luo Ji, on whom they had placed high hopes, couldn't quickly resolve his opponent, instead engaging in a difficult, evenly matched fight.

As expected of a disciple from a top sect, they were not easily defeated.

For a common grievance, the Nine Star Sect wouldn't persist, but the young master's vengeance had to be exacted. They could only continue to wait.

Just then, Dong Shuye's expression suddenly changed.

"Has the result come out?" Cao Ye asked nervously.

"No, it's that servant girl by Wang Yang's side! She has left the Profound Gate stronghold."

"She wouldn't be trying to deal with Luo Ji, would she?" Cao Ye's heart tightened.

"I don't know, but that possibility can't be ruled out. You'll need to go."

Cao Ye's face twitched. Though they were both sixth-level cultivators, he was genuinely no match for that servant girl. Every time he clashed with her, he ended up getting a severe beating.

This was unavoidable. He was a body cultivator, while she was a spiritual cultivator, naturally holding an advantage. They had fought many times over the past two years, and each time he was beaten black and blue.

Thus, he really didn't want to face the servant girl named Xiaozhu, but Dong Shuye had already given the order. He could only bite the bullet and accept.

Anyway, it's just another severe beating! With that thought, Cao Ye strode out, a determined expression on his face, as if to say, "Though a thousand men oppose me, I shall go!"

Dong Shuye watched him depart, sighing involuntarily.

Chu Tian was resting in a hidden spot with a group of his junior disciples when a woman with a double-bun hairstyle suddenly approached from nearby.

"Senior Sister Xiaozhu," Chu Tian, sharp-eyed, quickly greeted her.

Xiaozhu stepped forward and asked, "How are things?" She wasn't asking about Chu Tian and his group, but about Lu Ye.

Just as the Nine Star Sect had received news of Lu Ye and Luo Ji's fierce battle, so too had the Profound Gate. Everyone now knew that these two disciples from top forces had met and were engaged in an intense, ongoing conflict.

Chu Tian sighed, "They're practically beating each other's brains out! Senior Sister Xiaozhu, those two are simply inhuman!"

"Who has the upper hand?" Xiaozhu asked.

Chu Tian shook his head: "It's neck and neck. One moment, this one is chasing that one, chopping, the next, that one is chasing this one, pounding."

"They've been fighting since last night?" Xiaozhu's delicate brows furrowed slightly.

"They haven't been fighting non-stop; they occasionally pause to recover, but quickly resume their battle." Chu Tian had clearly gathered a good deal of intelligence.

"Such recovery ability..." Xiaozhu was secretly amazed. For cultivators at the second or third level, such recovery was truly abnormal. Most individuals couldn't sustain a prolonged conflict like that.

"Where are they?" Xiaozhu asked.

Chu Tian immediately indicated the direction, and Xiaozhu set off.

A moment later, Lu Ye and Luo Ji, who were in fierce battle, simultaneously turned their heads, warily looking in one direction.

The battle had been incredibly grueling. Both sides had been close to exhaustion. After they each recovered for about an hour—not much time at all—Luo Ji was the first to launch an attack on Lu Ye, reigniting their conflict.

However, this time neither of them used offensive spirit talismans, mainly because they had run out. All that remained were some defensive talismans.

Luo Ji also no longer used the large seal spiritual artifact. It consumed too much energy; his limited recovered spiritual power couldn't sustain it for long. If he couldn't quickly finish off Lu Ye, he would simply be waiting for death.

To be safe, he didn't even use other spiritual arts, engaging Lu Ye only with an Ice Cone spell, as it was his most proficient and least draining technique.

There was no existing enmity between them; they hadn't even met before. But on the Spirit Stream Battlefield, it wasn't about personal grievances or affections, but solely about allegiance and faction.

Different factions were reason enough for a life-or-death struggle!

Under their watchful gaze, a graceful figure emerged from that direction. Luo Ji immediately tensed, realizing the newcomer was not from the Nine Star Sect.

Soon, however, he relaxed. After the woman appeared, another burly figure also emerged: Cao Ye from the Nine Star Sect.

The sudden appearance of these two sixth-level cultivators together left him bewildered. He looked at Cao Ye questioningly, who shook his head, signaling him not to act rashly, then stood beside him.

Luo Ji immediately understood: Cao Ye was here to restrain the opposing party. Seizing this opportunity, he quickly sat cross-legged, took out spiritual pills, and began refining them.

On the other side, though Lu Ye didn't know what was happening, seeing Luo Ji's actions, he also began consuming spiritual pills. He even took out a large piece of beast meat, stuffing it into his mouth, and tossed a sizable portion to Big Tiger nearby.

Xiaozhu, looking somewhat speechless, walked up to Lu Ye and stopped nearby. Under his wary gaze, she introduced herself: "I am Chu Tian's senior sister."

Lu Ye naturally wouldn't believe her so easily, so he immediately messaged Chu Tian to verify. Only after receiving confirmation did he nod slightly, mumbling indistinctly, "What is it?"

At the same time, he scrutinized her, his gaze lingering on her full chest... He couldn't help but wonder why this woman was dressed like a maidservant.

"Give me two spirit stones," Xiaozhu said.

"What?" Lu Ye suspected he misheard.

"Two spirit stones!" Xiaozhu repeated.

Lu Ye was utterly bewildered. What did this woman mean, coming over to ask him for two spirit stones? Was she trying to rob him? It didn't make sense...

After a brief deliberation, Lu Ye took two spirit stones from his storage bag and tossed them to her. Xiaozhu caught them, then threw a jade slip to Lu Ye, saying, "They're yours!"

Lu Ye frowned, holding the jade slip. After a quick inspection, he immediately understood what she meant.

This was clearly a cultivation technique, and an Earth-tier one at that!

Two spirit stones naturally wouldn't buy an Earth-tier cultivation technique. This was clearly a gesture of goodwill from the Profound Gate. After all, he had saved the lives of some Profound Gate disciples recently.

This was an unexpected surprise. He had previously contacted Chu Tian, intending only to purchase a Profound-tier cultivation technique. Getting an Earth-tier one was even better, as it would allow him to open up to 180 orifices. This saved him the trouble of finding another cultivation technique after reaching the sixth level of the Spirit Stream Realm.

"Thank you!" Lu Ye said gratefully.

Xiaozhu was unconcerned. She turned and looked at Cao Ye, who stood nearby, a smile appearing on her face.

Cao Ye's scalp tingled as unpleasant memories surfaced in his mind. But with Luo Ji beside him, he couldn't afford to show weakness. He took a step forward and said, "Shall we go somewhere else?"

Xiaozhu's smile widened: "That's exactly what I had in mind!"

The next moment, Cao Ye turned and swiftly darted away. Xiaozhu followed, her pace quickening.

Soon, both figures vanished. Lu Ye gulped down the food in his mouth, brandished his long blade, and charged towards Luo Ji.

Simultaneously, across Liantian Gorge, battles far more intense than before erupted, as cultivators from the two great sects fought to the death, and the essence of life was continuously extinguished.
