Chapter 2675: What Exactly Happened

The Dragon Palace was serene. Zhu Yin led the group forward, with Su Yan walking beside her. Lu Ye, holding a hand of each of the two children, followed behind, looking left and right.

After a short while, a courtyard appeared ahead. This was Zhu Yin's residence within the Dragon Palace. She invited everyone inside. A long table in the courtyard was already set with various exquisite fruit platters. Seeing them, the two children's eyes lit up, and they scurried forward.

A moment later, everyone was seated. Su Yan and Zhu Yin chatted and laughed happily, while Lu Ye sat beside them, quite bored, as the two children devoured the food.

After a long time, Lu Ye was truly bored. He wondered if all women were like this, but Su Yan and Zhu Yin seemed to have endless things to talk about ever since they met. They weren't even discussing cultivation; it was all just mundane details from their daily lives. Yet, no matter who was speaking, the other listened with great interest, as if listening to a sacred hymn.

After waiting a while longer and seeing no sign of them stopping, Lu Ye got up and walked out on his own.

At the long table, Zhu Yin, who was intently listening to Su Yan recount her experiences in the shattered Star Field, caught a glimpse of Lu Ye out of the corner of her eye.

A short while later, Lu Ye was observing a painting. This should be Zhu Yin's artwork; the Dragon Lady seemed skilled in the art of painting. The entire room was filled with various scrolls, and on the desk over there, there were even unfinished pieces.

Footsteps sounded behind him. Lu Ye turned and saw Zhu Yin approaching. He was a little surprised. "I had nothing better to do, just wandering around. Is it okay to be in here?"

Zhu Yin replied, "Of course, brother-in-law. Please make yourself at home."

A hesitant look appeared on her face, as if she were about to make a difficult decision. But remembering Su Yan was waiting outside and time was short, she gritted her teeth and whispered, "Brother-in-law, what happened between us last time… could you please not tell Sister Su Yan?"

She had specifically found an excuse to leave the table and come find Lu Ye to remind him of this. To be precise, what happened that time was just an accident. If Lu Ye were another external consort of the Phoenix Clan, it wouldn't matter, but he was Sister Su Yan's. She didn't really want Su Yan to know, not because of any selfish motives, but simply because she was afraid it would affect the relationship between Su Yan and Lu Ye.

Lu Ye blinked, looking bewildered. "What happened between us?"

Zhu Yin also blinked, then quickly understood. The corners of her eyes curved, and she smiled, "Right. Well then, brother-in-law, please make yourself comfortable. If you get bored, feel free to go for a stroll."

Lu Ye nodded.

Zhu Yin turned to leave, but after just one step, her expression suddenly changed. At the same time, Lu Ye's expression also tightened, and he turned to look.

In that instant, the entire study space seemed like a mirror dropped to the ground, shattering into fragments. Whether by coincidence or not, though Lu Ye and Zhu Yin were a small distance apart, their positions were within the same fragment. The surrounding scenery rapidly faded, turning into a void.

"Junior Sister?" Lu Ye focused, examining his surroundings with caution, while also asking, "This change happened so unexpectedly; I'm a bit confused."

Zhu Yin quickly moved to Lu Ye's side, slowly shaking her head. She also didn't know what was happening. Logically, such a thing shouldn't occur within the Dragon Palace, yet it had happened in this bizarre way.

In the void, a spatial rift suddenly opened. Accompanied by a familiar roar, a massive black mass surged out from it.

"A Void Beast!" Lu Ye stared, stunned. How could there be a Void Beast here? Moreover, judging by its solidity and size, it seemed even stronger than the one they encountered last time.

Zhu Yin had already swept past him. Before the Void Beast could stabilize itself, she delivered a punch. She had undoubtedly activated the Ox-Striking Secret Art for this punch, with spatial power swirling around her fist.

The Void Beast remained motionless. Several black, tentacle-like spikes shot out from its body, striking directly at Zhu Yin. With several clangs, saber light flashed, and Lu Ye had already charged forward, blocking the Void Beast's assault.

"Brother-in-law!" Zhu Yin cried out, simultaneously retreating quickly.

"Coming!" Lu Ye responded. Having cooperated for many days in the spatial corridor before, how could he not know what Zhu Yin meant? Power surged, and complex patterns unfolded layer upon layer at his feet, forming a Dao formation that enveloped both him and Zhu Yin.

The next instant, their energies merged, their individual powers erupting. The interweaving and fusion of temporal and spatial energies created a wondrous effect.

The Void Beast's attack had arrived; the black spikes were almost blurs. Lu Ye swung his saber horizontally. "Horizon Slash!"

Space was stretched, and though the sharp attacks were close, they couldn't harm either of them in the slightest. Flashing, Lu Ye led Zhu Yin behind the Void Beast. Time and space power swirled around his Mountain-Shattering Saber, and he brought it down with a fierce chop.

Where the saber landed, the Void Beast's surface remained unharmed, but its body suddenly stiffened for an instant. That was because its Dao Seed was severed. Its roar grew much louder.

The long saber in Lu Ye's hand had become a blur, striking down repeatedly. Having the experience of working together against an enemy once before, this time was undoubtedly much more practiced.

The Dao Seed was the foundation of the Void Beast. Attacked in this manner, it had no chance to resist. In just three breaths, this Void Beast turned into nothingness and disappeared, leaving only a faint, almost shattered remnant of a Dao Seed.

Lu Ye reached out and grabbed the Dao Seed, then dispelled the "Same Qi, Linked Branches" Dao formation. Only then did he turn to the side, frowning. "What is the Phoenix Lord's intention?"

"Phoenix Lord?" Zhu Yin was startled, wondering why Lu Ye suddenly asked this; there were clearly only the two of them here.

At this moment, the surrounding space began to shift. Two figures suddenly appeared in Lu Ye's vision. One was indeed the Phoenix Lord, but the other he had never seen before. However, this person's demeanor was exceptionally extraordinary; though dressed in casual clothes, they exuded the majesty of a superior. And the fact that this person could stand shoulder to shoulder with the Phoenix Lord clearly indicated they were no ordinary individual. What surprised Lu Ye slightly was that this person's expression when looking at him was full of joy.

Zhu Yin was slightly startled and quickly bowed. "Greetings, Dragon Sovereign. Greetings, Phoenix Lord."

Dragon Sovereign! Indeed, in the Dragon City Dragon Palace, only this person could stand alongside the Phoenix Lord.

"Greetings, Dragon Sovereign. Greetings, Phoenix Lord." Lu Ye also bowed.

"Clever boy. How did you notice it was the Phoenix Lord's doing?" The Dragon Sovereign raised a hand slightly and asked.

Lu Ye felt a little speechless. "To answer the Dragon Sovereign, this place is the Dragon Palace, heavily guarded. How could a spatial rift suddenly appear, and a Void Beast emerge? So, it must have been man-made. And Junior Sister Zhu Yin and I are both quite skilled in the Dao of space. To be able to act undetected in this environment, I can't think of anyone else in this world besides the Phoenix Lord."

The Dragon Sovereign chuckled. "Then tell me, what was the Phoenix Lord's intention?" He clearly harbored some intent to test.

Lu Ye pondered briefly. "A test? Do the two of you want to see how Junior Sister Zhu Yin and I eliminate Void Beasts?" It was very likely related to time and space power!

The Dragon Sovereign turned to the Phoenix Lord. "This consort of yours is quite clever!"

The Phoenix Lord's gaze, however, was extremely sharp, staring at Lu Ye with full scrutiny. Lu Ye couldn't figure out where he had offended this top-tier expert. Although she hadn't initially been too fond of him, after acknowledging his status as Su Yan's consort, she had granted him the method for cultivating the Dao Seed of Space, and in his cultivation of the Dao of space, she had offered considerable assistance. But he didn't know the reason for her current demeanor.

He suddenly recalled what Zhu Yin had said earlier... These two had probably been nearby all along, so Zhu Yin's words must have been heard by them, and misunderstandings must have arisen. Lu Ye immediately felt a sour taste in his mouth.

"Yin'er, please see to our guests." The Dragon Sovereign waved his hand.

Zhu Yin tilted her head and looked at Lu Ye.

The Dragon Sovereign chuckled. "What, are you concerned I'll harm your guest, girl?"

Zhu Yin stuck out her tongue. "I wouldn't dare." She then turned and left.

After Zhu Yin's figure disappeared, Lu Ye looked at the Dragon Sovereign. "May I ask for the Dragon Sovereign's guidance?" This person had intentionally kept him back, clearly to say something.

"This is not the proper place for a discussion." The Dragon Sovereign nodded slightly to the Phoenix Lord.

The Phoenix Lord waved her slender hand, and the space immediately changed. When Lu Ye regained his senses, he was already in a grand hall, secretly marveling. His current mastery of the Dao of space was not low, but compared to the Phoenix Lord, it seemed immeasurable. On second thought, his ability to cultivate spatial power was due to the Dao Seed secret method, while the Phoenix Clan itself had a bloodline inheritance, and the Phoenix Lord was the strongest Phoenix Clan member alive. How could he compare?

These thoughts were swirling in Lu Ye's mind when a heavy pressure suddenly descended from above. In an instant, he felt as if he were carrying an entire star field on his back, and his blood felt like it had congealed. He looked up in astonishment, only to see the Dragon Sovereign, who had just been smiling, now glaring at him with a look of stern resolve, gritting his teeth. "Boy, tell me in detail, what exactly happened between you and Yin'er? Why did she tell you not to tell Su Yan just now? Did you do something unspeakable to her?"

Lu Ye immediately felt a headache. The Phoenix Lord's expression just now had already made him realize something was amiss, but the Dragon Sovereign had shown no abnormal signs, making Lu Ye think he didn't care. Who knew he was waiting for him here? The Dragon Sovereign was a wolf in sheep's clothing!

The two top-tier powerhouses of the inner realm were staring at him with an extremely aggressive gaze. Lu Ye knew that if he couldn't give them a satisfactory answer, he would certainly not escape this place today. He wouldn't die, but he would certainly endure some hardship.

Without any hesitation, he immediately spoke: "Please calm down, both of you. I swear by the Will of the Star Abyss that Junior Sister Zhu Yin and I are absolutely innocent and that nothing improper has ever transpired between us."

The Dragon Sovereign raised an eyebrow, and the Phoenix Lord narrowed her eyes. The overwhelming pressure slowly receded, and the Phoenix Lord's sharp gaze also softened.

Lu Ye let out a long sigh of relief in his heart, knowing that he had survived this ordeal. The Star Abyss Oath truly is effective.
