Chapter 2556: You Are Some Kind of Deity

A small area, bustling with activity, where five Hedao cities had converged.

The five Hedao cities were divided into four groups: Lingfeng City, the two opposing Heavenly-rank cities allied together, the Heavenly-rank city that appeared first, and finally, Yuan Xi, Lian, and Lu Ye.

Upon seeing Yuan Xi and her companions arrive as reinforcements, Zhao Lingfeng's spirits were greatly lifted. He roared, "Kill!" If he were to lead his subordinates against the cultivators of three Hedao cities alone, he would have no chance of victory and would feel apprehensive. But with support from Yuan Xi's city, the situation was different. He had personally experienced Yuan Xi's formidable strength.

Without a moment's hesitation and his speed undiminished, he led his forces straight towards the enemy ahead, with the pursuers still following close behind. He had previously feared being caught in a pincer attack, but now he had no more worries. He knew that as long as Yuan Xi wasn't foolish, she would first help him deal with the pursuers behind him.

Yuan Xi indeed went straight for the pursuers.

The Heavenly-rank city that appeared first was supposed to have four Hedao cultivators. Currently, one remained to guard the city, while three engaged in battle, along with many aggressive Dao Fusion cultivators.

As Yuan Xi and her two companions approached diagonally, the Heavenly-rank City Lord's expression turned grim. "One each!" he barked. It was three against three, a perfect matchup for direct combat. This way, his numerous Dao Fusion cultivators could reinforce another battlefield and effectively suppress the enemy.

As he spoke, his gaze fixed on Yuan Xi. He had largely determined her identity as a Hedao City Lord. He wasn't sure how strong Yuan Xi truly was, but since they were both City Lords, he reckoned that even if she was stronger, it wouldn't be by much. At the very least, he could hold her back.

His idea was good, but the moment their powers clashed, he realized how naive he had been. Terrifying power swept forth from the front. With just one strike, the City Lord's entire body was rattled.

"You too, come here!" Yuan Xi cried out, reaching out to grab another Hedao cultivator. This Hedao cultivator had originally been targeting Lu Ye, but at this moment, a sudden chill ran down his spine. Not daring to be careless, he immediately activated his Dao power to protect himself. Yet, Yuan Xi's claw still clamped onto him, and his protective Dao power shattered layer by layer like dust. If he hadn't retreated quickly enough, he would probably have lost half his body.

Terrified, he no longer cared about Lu Ye and immediately joined forces with his own City Lord to face Yuan Xi.

As the battle erupted, Lian had already engaged with the third Hedao cultivator. As the Thunderwood staff swept across, thunder rolled like dragons, and her opponent's face instantly turned ashen.

Lu Ye's figure didn't stop. He swept past the five Hedao cultivators and charged straight towards the large group of Dao Fusion cultivators.

"Hedao? No, this guy is Dao Fusion. Kill him!" In that direction, a Dao Fusion cultivator noticed Lu Ye's movement, turned his head, and his expression turned grim. As he spoke, he and several companions beside him simultaneously launched an attack toward Lu Ye.

Brilliant light erupted, engulfing Lu Ye's rapidly moving figure.

"Seeking death!" The Dao Fusion cultivator who spoke snorted coldly. The next instant, his face suddenly changed. From within the light, a figure emerged unharmed. With a single leap, the figure blurred and reappeared right in front of them.

A saber gleam flashed, leaving a trail of afterimages. Lu Ye charged forward with the imposing momentum of a tiger, and wherever he passed, blood rained down and cries of agony resounded. Most of the Dao Fusion cultivators hadn't yet reacted to this sudden turn of events. When they heard the screams and turned to look, they only saw a blur of saber light.

In just over ten breaths, Lu Ye had already cut through to the front of this group of Dao Fusion cultivators, astonishingly carving a path straight through their formation. Along his path, lay scattered corpses and severed limbs.

The many Dao Fusion cultivators rushing to the battlefield were all dumbfounded, their minds in disarray.

"Quick, attack together and kill him!" a cultivator cried out in terror, boldly launching an attack. Instantly, multi-colored lights, like a curtain of rain, enveloped the area where Lu Ye was. These many Dao Fusion cultivators had experienced countless life-or-death crises during their cultivation. So even though they were shocked by Lu Ye's strength, their instinctive reactions did not falter. Facing such a powerful enemy, offense was the best defense. With them attacking simultaneously like this, not only was Lu Ye a Dao Fusion cultivator, but even a true Hedao cultivator couldn't ignore such an assault.

The Leap Technique was employed again. Lu Ye had already flashed away before the enemy could act, his figure suddenly appearing in the midst of the enemy formation, right in front of the Dao Fusion cultivator who had shouted. He slashed out with his saber. This Dao Fusion cultivator didn't even react; his entire body was already cut in half.

Blood rained down haphazardly. Surrounded by enemies, Lu Ye suddenly gripped his saber in a reverse grip. Ferociously activating his Dao power, his body spun rapidly. A burst of saber light erupted, sweeping in all directions. The saber light, like a whirlwind, rapidly expanded outwards.

The Great Windmill!

This saber secret art originally required two sabers to wield, but Lu Ye didn't have two sabers. He could still use it with a single saber, though its power might be somewhat diminished. But with his strength against these Dao Fusion cultivators, even with diminished power, it was absolutely not something they could easily withstand. This had always been the best killing move to use against weaker enemies when outnumbered.

Screams rose and fell. Where the saber light whirlwind spread, no one remained unscathed, and in an instant, many lives perished. Only those Dao Fusion cultivators who were slightly further from Lu Ye and reacted quickly barely managed to escape.

Lu Ye, however, frowned slightly, feeling somewhat dissatisfied. When his strength wasn't high and his experience was limited, he thought this secret art was very powerful. But from his current vantage point, he clearly noticed its shortcomings. The destructive power of this secret art was sufficient, but it was too easy for others to dodge. His ability to kill enemies this time was entirely due to his overwhelming power against those Dao Fusion cultivators. If it could be improved a bit, so that when casting this secret art, it could also restrict the enemy's mobility, that would be even better.

Lu Ye recalled a spatial secret art his brother-in-law Su Yun had once used. That secret art seemed to be able to make space collapse. If he could combine the two secret arts, then wherever the saber light swept, space would collapse, and no one would be able to escape; anyone caught within would surely die. If there was a chance in the future, he might go to Phoenix Nest to consult Su Yun.

"How dare you!" A furious roar suddenly came from the nearby Heavenly-rank city. It was the Hedao cultivator who remained behind; seeing his Dao Fusion cultivators suffering heavy casualties, he could no longer tolerate it. He leaped out from the city and soared directly towards Lu Ye.

The saber light that had spread in all directions slowly dissipated. Lu Ye's figure stopped. He completely ignored the approaching Hedao cultivator, his figure once again shifting and leaping away to kill the surrounding Dao Fusion cultivators. These surviving cultivators had already witnessed the terror of Lu Ye's strength. How could they dare to directly confront him? They scattered and fled in all directions.

Just then, a scream was heard, followed by the annihilation of a Hedao aura. The chaotic battlefield fell silent for a moment. Almost all the enemy Hedao cultivators' actions slowed down, as they couldn't imagine why, just moments after the battle began, a Hedao cultivator had already fallen.

Was it an enemy or an ally? If it was an enemy, that was naturally cause for joy. But if it was an ally, then it was terrible. They soon realized that the fallen Hedao cultivator was one of their own! What was worse, seizing the moment they were distracted, Zhao Lingfeng and his companions suddenly launched a fierce assault, and their wild offensive left them scrambling to respond. Compared to their uncertainty, Zhao Lingfeng and his companions had strong confidence in Yuan Xi. Thus, they could be certain that the fallen Hedao cultivator was definitely not one of their own.

Indeed, it wasn't one of their own. The fallen one was Lian's opponent! Neither was a City Lord, nor did they have the augmentation of a Hedao City, but in terms of strength, this Golden Stamen Pavilion Master was far stronger than her opponent. This was simply not a fight on the same level. Therefore, among all the Hedao clashes on the battlefield, she even achieved victory faster than Yuan Xi!

After slaying her opponent, a pair of pristine white wings immediately unfurled behind her. With a slight flap, she flew towards a certain direction like thunder and lightning. That direction was precisely where the Hedao cultivator guarding the city was located.

"Huh?" The Hedao cultivator guarding the city was immediately greatly alarmed. He had just seen Lu Ye kill so many of his own Dao Fusion cultivators. He knew that if he didn't intervene, no one would be able to handle this soldier cultivator. That's why he couldn't hold back and charged out, intending to curb Lu Ye's momentum. His decision was actually not wrong. Only if he engaged Lu Ye would his Dao Fusion cultivators have a chance to survive. He could even cooperate with his many Dao Fusion cultivators to kill Lu Ye together. It wouldn't take long before he could retreat.

His mistake was underestimating the enemy's strength. He had never imagined that battles between Hedao cultivators could be decided so quickly! Powerhouses like Yuan Xi and Lian, by rights, should not have appeared on such a battlefield. Battles between Flood-rank Hedao cities were where they truly belonged. Fighting against Heavenly-rank cities was a complete waste of their talents.

Now that Lian was heading towards the Hedao cultivator guarding the city, he only hesitated for a moment before immediately preparing to retreat back to the Hedao City. The Hedao cultivator killed by Lian was his companion. In comparison, while he was certainly a bit stronger, it wasn't by much. With his companion killed so quickly, he certainly didn't think he would be a match for Lian. Only by retreating to the Hedao City could he escape this calamity.

However, having come out, how easy would it be to go back? Even if it were Yuan Xi, he would have hope of retreating. But it was Lian, known for her speed. Before he could retreat, a white light had already intercepted him. The white light receded, revealing Lian's shapely figure. The Hedao cultivator guarding the city instantly felt despair. Even knowing he would likely meet a tragic end, he could only brace himself and respond.

Three breaths later, another scream was heard, and the aura of a second Hedao cultivator was annihilated. This time, it was Yuan Xi who succeeded. The Hedao cultivator who had originally intended to target Lu Ye was killed. Fighting one against two, she powerfully slew one person, only a little slower than Lian.

"Who in the world are you?!" With a Hedao cultivator under him dead in battle, the Heavenly-rank City Lord was left to confront Yuan Xi alone. They weren't a match even when working together, let alone fighting alone now. He had already realized that Yuan Xi was definitely no ordinary Hedao City Lord. But he couldn't understand why such a powerhouse would come to deal with his small Heavenly-rank city. He couldn't help but roar in fear and anger.

"None of your business!" Yuan Xi snorted coldly. Her attacks became even more ruthless, causing the Heavenly-rank City Lord to cry out in distress. He truly couldn't understand why, despite both being City Lords, the strength gap could be so vast.
