Chapter 1905: Fate Dice

A short while later, Yu Yaorao departed. Before leaving, she told Lu Ye the approximate location of her cave abode and asked him to visit her when he had time. Lu Ye readily agreed.

After seeing Yu Yaorao off, Lu Ye calculated the time. The Battle Rankings seemed to be settling in about ten days. This short period would likely be insufficient for him to participate in another trial, unless it was the simplest type of combat scenario.

Furthermore, there was another rule in the Asura Arena: cultivators could not undertake another trial immediately after completing one. The waiting period varied, and cultivators could sense when they were eligible to start again through their Asura Tokens.

Since he couldn't participate in a trial, Lu Ye decided to challenge the Moon Radiance tier battle arena. His current rank was seventh, which naturally didn't satisfy him; his goal was to reach the top of the Moon Radiance Rankings!

However, before challenging, he first contacted Walnut. After all, he had an agreement with her: she would place bets on him every time he competed in the battle arena, thereby earning profits, half of which belonged to him.

He received a response shortly after sending the message.

"You want to challenge now? Can you wait two days? My trial is almost finished. How about you challenge after I get back?"

Lu Ye hadn't expected Walnut to be in a trial scenario as well. He didn't know where she was currently suffering, so he could only reply, "Don't die!"

If Walnut were to suddenly die, all his previous earnings would be lost. He would only receive his share if she returned alive.

With Walnut unavailable, Lu Ye lost his interest in continuing the challenge. Furthermore, challenging at this moment might not yield the desired results, as the cultivators ranked above him might not yet have returned to the Heavenly Asura Realm.

Given this, he decided to wait until three days before the settlement.

With nothing else to do, he took out the spherical treasure and examined it closely, hoping to uncover its mysteries. However, no matter what Lu Ye did, he couldn't discern anything special about it.

After a moment's thought, Lu Ye struck the sphere with his palm.

It was merely a light tap, without much force, yet with this single palm strike, the sphere shattered with a crash.

Lu Ye was stunned. Since it broke so easily, this object was clearly not a treasure. However, the inability to store it in a storage ring was perplexing.

Soon, however, amidst the fragments, Lu Ye spotted a strange object: a square, crystal-like item about the size of a baby's fist, resembling an enlarged die, but its surface was smooth and devoid of any markings.

Lu Ye picked it up and examined it carefully, but couldn't make much sense of it. He tried to put it into his storage ring but failed.

He immediately realized that the spherical object was indeed not the treasure; the real treasure was the die hidden within it.

Still, Lu Ye truly had no idea what this item was for. He tried to infuse it with spiritual power, but there was no sign of acceptance. His divine sense also revealed nothing unusual.

Suddenly, an idea struck him: since this item came from a trial scenario, perhaps he could find answers in the Asura Vault!

This was because a section of the Asura Vault would acquire various rare and unusual treasures, rewarding cultivators with a certain number of Asura Marks based on the item's value.

Generally, if cultivators acquired an unknown treasure, they would visit that area, not necessarily to sell it, but to have the Asura Vault help identify it.

This was common knowledge.

Therefore, it was difficult for cultivators to find bargains in the Asura Vault's marketplace, as they could use the Asura Arena to understand the use and value of even the strangest treasures.

Taking out his Asura Token, Lu Ye opened the portal and entered the vault.

With a thought, he arrived in an area filled with empty cylindrical pedestals. Cultivators simply placed any mysterious treasure on one to receive detailed information and an assessment of its value.

Many cultivators lingered there, evidently with the same intention as Lu Ye. Some were ecstatic, having clearly found something good, while others shook their heads and sighed, undoubtedly realizing their hoped-for treasures were merely junk.

Lu Ye found a quiet spot and placed the die from his hand onto the cylindrical pedestal in front of him. The next moment, a layer of faint light suddenly appeared, enveloping the die.

Simultaneously, some information inexplicably appeared in Lu Ye's mind, undoubtedly infused by the Asura Arena.

"Dice of Destiny: A subordinate treasure of an ultimate artifact. Attract good fortune, avert disaster, defy fate — all within a single throw of the die."

Lu Ye's eyebrows shot up. With almost no hesitation, he snatched the die back into his hand, glancing left and right to confirm that no one had noticed him.

A subordinate treasure of an ultimate artifact!

This strange die was actually a subordinate treasure of an ultimate artifact!

This was truly an immense stroke of luck! Indeed, he, Lu, had always been kind to others, loving to help the weak against the strong, and always intervening when injustice arose. This stroke of fortune was well-deserved.

Counting them, he now possessed two subordinate treasures of ultimate artifacts. The Alchemy Gourd had endless uses, making the refining of elixirs effortless, while the Minor Constellation Palace could easily create top-tier spiritual islands even in a place like the Myriad Manifestation Sea.

This Dice of Destiny, a subordinate treasure, surely wouldn't be inferior.

Suppressing his excitement, Lu Ye examined the die. With the help of the Asura Arena, he now understood what it was. As for why it was in the Asura Arena, it wasn't hard to understand.

In the vast Asura Arena, countless cultivators had come and gone throughout history. Some achieved great success, while others died mysteriously. There was an endless variety of treasures within the arena. It was not unreasonable for someone to bring a subordinate ultimate artifact treasure from outside, only for it to be lost in the arena after their death. Moreover, the Heavenly Asura clan had already deposited a large number of treasures into the arena before their demise.

But how was this thing actually used?

"Attract good fortune, avert disaster, defy fate" — it sounded incredibly profound.

He pondered for a moment. Since it was a die, perhaps it should be...

Lu Ye squatted down and tossed the die onto the clear ground in front of him.

It rolled several times, flipping through multiple faces before coming to a stop. Immediately afterward, Lu Ye clearly saw a glow surround the upward-facing side of the die, revealing a large character.

Lu Ye raised an eyebrow. Just as he was contemplating that the character "吉" (Jí - auspicious) should signify good fortune, the character suddenly transformed into a beam of light and struck him.

Caught off guard, Lu Ye had no time to dodge and was directly hit on the forehead by the light.

His expression changed, and he quickly activated his power to check himself, but felt nothing. Even his innate talent tree showed no reaction.

What he found peculiar, however, was that he now distinctly felt a very strange sensation. This feeling was indescribable—a sudden, strong surge of confidence, as if any difficulty before him could be easily resolved.

Anything he desired, he could effortlessly seize!

This sensation was too bizarre; Lu Ye felt somewhat unaccustomed to it for a moment.

But... what was the actual use of this? Currently, there didn't seem to be any pressing problems for him to solve. He did want the Asura Arena's subordinate artifact, but that cost ten billion Asura Marks. Where would he get that?

It couldn't possibly be that the Asura Arena would just give it to him for free; that made no sense at all.

Suddenly, Lu Ye thought of a good place—a place where he could verify whether the Dice of Destiny actually worked.

With a thought, his vision shifted, and he arrived in another area of the vault.

Here, numerous storage rings were placed on cylindrical pedestals. This was the area Gui Yi had previously warned him to avoid, a place where cultivators loved to try their luck.

Many cultivators lingered and moved about, examining each storage ring, hoping to discern which one was worth a gamble. However, they often ended up losing everything.

Lu Ye actually had little interest in this place. While there were precedents of getting rich overnight, and more than once, there were always winners and losers. A gambler's ultimate fate would only be ruin.

He came simply to verify whether the Dice of Destiny worked, and at this moment, he indeed felt a strong conviction that he could gamble on a highly valuable storage ring.

As he was looking around, a voice suddenly came from beside him: "Fellow cultivator, choose this one!"

Lu Ye turned his head and saw an elderly man speaking to him. At first glance, he looked somewhat familiar. A quick thought brought back the memory: this was the very old man who, on Lu Ye's first visit, had loudly declared that immense wealth had finally come his way!

He must have had incredible luck that time.

The old man was clearly very experienced, so Lu Ye humbly asked, "How so?"

The old man stroked his beard, looking profound. "There are many tricks to gambling luck—observing quality, discerning color—it's too much to explain quickly. But if you trust this old man, choose this one. Based on my observation, this storage ring was most likely left by a Sun Radiance cultivator and won't disappoint you. I ask for nothing else; if you gain anything, just give me a small share."

Lu Ye blinked. It was a matter of indifference to him, so he reached out and grabbed the storage ring.

The old man's eyes immediately filled with anticipation.

Yet, just as Lu Ye was about to grasp the storage ring, he frowned, inexplicably feeling something was amiss, and withdrew his hand.

"Fellow cultivator, once you've set your sights, there's no need to hesitate. The quality of this storage ring is unmistakable," the old man urged again.

Lu Ye slowly shook his head. He had a persistent feeling that choosing this storage ring would not lead to anything good.

Just as the old man was about to persuade him further, someone else suddenly stepped forward and snatched the storage ring.

The old man immediately pounded his chest and stamped his foot. "Fellow cultivator, hesitation only leads to missed opportunities! If I didn't lack Asura Marks, I would definitely have taken it myself; why would I let someone else get it cheaply? Young man, you don't listen to the words of your elders, and now you'll suffer for it."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a bang suddenly echoed from nearby. Lu Ye quickly turned to look, only to see the cultivator who had just acquired the storage ring standing bewilderedly in place. The storage ring he had exchanged for had already burst into dust.

After a long moment of stunned silence, the cultivator finally cursed loudly, "Damn it all!"

Lu Ye turned to look at the old man, whose expression remained unchanged. "Some storage rings are too old, and if one isn't careful enough when unsealing them, this can happen. But that was definitely a storage ring left by a Sun Radiance cultivator. What a pity! If I had exchanged for it, I would surely have successfully unlocked its seal."
