Chapter 1608: Late Night Visit

Luan Xiao'e had always believed that the Three Realms fleet considered her their leader. Who would have thought there was a sleeping ancient beast right under her nose? When she saw Ya Ya repel that Blood Clan Sun-Illuminated cultivator, she almost thought she was dreaming.

Furthermore, Luan Xiao'e felt that Ya Ya was no ordinary Sun-Illuminated cultivator. When Ya Ya clashed with the Blood Clan Sun-Illuminated cultivator, she shattered the opponent's hands with a single punch. If the Blood Clan cultivator hadn't retreated quickly, they would likely have been killed on the spot. This clearly demonstrated Ya Ya's power.

"The fruits outside aren't tasty!" Ya Ya pouted, her bright eyes fixed on the spirit fruits on the table in front of Lu Ye.

The spirit fruits inside the main hall were naturally of much higher quality than those outside, being the best available in the Wu Ding Realm. They were usually reserved for the most distinguished guests. While the fruits outside weren't bad, they were undoubtedly inferior to those in the hall.

Ya Ya had a very discerning palate and a keen sense of smell. Catching the aroma of the fruits here, she lost all interest in those outside.

Lu Ye chuckled, picking up a spirit fruit and offering it to her. "Here, eat it yourself!"

Ya Ya took it but didn't eat it, instead placing it in her storage ring. Still not satisfied, her small hands moved continuously, clearing all the spirit fruits from Lu Ye's table. Then, she turned her head to look at Luo Xie's position.

Lu Ye had a bad feeling and was about to restrain her, but Ya Ya had already darted out, standing in front of Luo Xie and staring at him. "Are you eating these?"

Luo Xie replied with a smile, "If you want them, take them all!"

Ya Ya didn't stand on ceremony with him. She immediately collected all the spirit fruits in front of Luo Xie. Then, she ran over to Shi Hanqing and asked the same question, "Are you eating these?"

One by one, in a matter of moments, Ya Ya collected all the spirit fruits from every table. Only then did she return to Lu Ye, fully satisfied, pulling out a bright red fruit from her storage ring and eating it sweetly.

Lu Ye lowered his head and drank his wine, secretly deciding that he needed to discuss something with Li Shang later. Ya Ya's upbringing seemed to have a few issues...

The welcoming banquet lasted most of the day, finally concluding in the evening, when the cultivators from the Three Realms were assigned their accommodations.

The Four Directions Star System still had some matters to attend to, so the Three Realms fleet would have to wait a few days before departing. Since it was only a matter of days, Lu Ye was in no hurry.

In the sleeping quarters arranged by Wu Ding, Lu Ye immersed himself, engaging in a battle with the Azure Mantis in the green hall within his saber. When he killed Bai Jin, he had used a twin-saber secret art, but looking back, he felt it wasn't refined enough. Compared to the Azure Mantis's 'Great Windmill' technique, his own was worlds apart.

Nevertheless, there was no denying that the twin-saber secret art had terrifying destructive power. To improve it further, he had to confront the Azure Mantis directly.

Moments later, the Azure Mantis was again forced to demonstrate the twin-saber secret art. Lu Ye countered with his 'Great Windmill,' but he only lasted three breaths before being defeated and forced out.

Enduring the throbbing pain in his mind, Lu Ye reflected on everything that had just happened, gaining a faint understanding.

A knock suddenly sounded at the door. Lu Ye extended his divine sense and was quite surprised when he realized who was knocking.

He was the only occupant of this sleeping chamber. He had expected either Yi Yi or Hua Ci to come looking for him, but to his surprise, it was neither. It was another woman.

A woman he never would have expected!

Standing up and straightening his clothes, Lu Ye opened the door. A graceful woman with a full figure appeared before him.

At first glance, the woman appeared to be around thirty, but upon closer inspection, she seemed closer to twenty, possessing both the allure of a mature woman and the charm of youth.

"Realm Lord Qin!" Lu Ye greeted with a bow.

It turned out that the person visiting him in the dead of night was Qin Yi from the Northern Profound Star System.

The entire Northern Profound Star System only had two Sun-Illuminated cultivators. After Chen Zong's death in battle, Qin Yi became the sole Sun-Illuminated cultivator. It was as if one of the two pillars supporting the Northern Profound Star System had collapsed. When the news reached Northern Profound, everyone was plunged into grief.

"Call me Senior Sister!" Qin Yi smiled faintly.

Lu Ye readily complied, "Senior Sister Qin!"

Given Qin Yi's Sun-Illuminated cultivation, her age was unknown, and it would have been perfectly acceptable for Lu Ye to address her as 'Senior.' However, her request to be called 'Senior Sister' clearly indicated a desire for a more intimate address.

"Is there something you need, Senior Sister?" Lu Ye asked.

Qin Yi replied, "What, are you just going to make me stand outside to talk?"

Lu Ye quickly said, "Senior Sister, please come in!"

With that, he stepped aside.

Qin Yi stepped inside. Lu Ye found it inappropriate to close the door, given the late hour and the two of them being alone, as it could lead to misunderstandings if word got out. So, he followed her in.

Qin Yi had already taken a seat. Lu Ye quickly offered her tea and sat down beside her, his mind pondering the purpose of her late-night visit. After all, they had no prior interaction whatsoever, only exchanging a few words at the welcoming banquet earlier.

Qin Yi glanced around the room before her gaze settled on him. After observing him intently for a moment, she suddenly sighed and began, "When I took him as my disciple, he was about your age, but his cultivation was far inferior to yours. Back then, he was just a small True Lake cultivator!"

Lu Ye frowned, completely bewildered by what she was saying.

Qin Yi continued, "That year, hundreds of top families from Northern Profound recommended their disciples, but I chose only him. I saw a certain potential in him, and it turned out my judgment was correct; he eventually reached the Sun-Illuminated stage!"

Lu Ye suddenly realized who Qin Yi was referring to.

It was none other than Chen Zong, who had died in battle earlier!

Because the entire Northern Profound only had two Sun-Illuminated cultivators: Qin Yi and Chen Zong.

But... Chen Zong was actually Qin Yi's disciple?

As if sensing the surprise in Lu Ye's eyes, Qin Yi smiled faintly. "Chen Zong and I were Dao Companions. You should have heard about it."

Lu Ye nodded, his mind a little muddled. These two were both master and disciple, and Dao Companions. Their relationship was truly complicated. Wasn't Qin Yi essentially an older woman pursuing a younger man?

He truly hadn't seen it coming; this elegant and dignified woman actually had such tastes.

However, in the cultivation world, strength always reigned supreme. Age and seniority were secondary to power.

But if that were the case, why did Qin Yi show no sign of sadness? Logically, as both his master and Dao Companion, she should be deeply grieved by Chen Zong's death. Yet, from the moment Lu Ye met her today, he hadn't noticed anything unusual; she seemed completely unfazed.

Qin Yi spoke softly, "The dead cannot be brought back to life. One of the two Sun-Illuminated cultivators of Northern Profound is gone, leaving only me, a woman, to carry on alone. Cultivators are not mortals; throughout our lives, we experience too many partings and deaths. There are always some things we must persevere through, and always some times when we cannot show our weakness!"

Only then did Lu Ye understand that Qin Yi wasn't without sorrow; she simply couldn't show it.

Looking closely into her eyes again, Lu Ye realized that the Sun-Illuminated cultivator's gaze lacked much sparkle, as if a profound, unresolvable sorrow was hidden within.

Silence fell between them.

"Chen Zong was ambushed and killed by Bai Jin. Your slaying of Bai Jin is equivalent to avenging him. Senior Sister thanks you here!" Saying this, Qin Yi stood up and bowed deeply to Lu Ye, almost genuflecting.

Only then did Lu Ye understand why she had come to find him. She was clearly here to express her gratitude because he had killed Bai Jin, thus avenging Chen Zong's death.

Lu Ye quickly raised a hand to assist her. "Senior Sister, you're too kind. In that situation, even if I hadn't acted, Senior Sister Li Guan would have still slain Bai Jin."

Qin Yi rose and slowly shook her head. "Without you, the Four Directions Star System's warship fleet would have been annihilated, and none of what followed would have happened. My bold visit tonight is simply for me, his surviving partner, to express gratitude on behalf of my late husband."

As she spoke, she flipped her hand, revealing a luminous lotus flower in her palm. Lu Ye distinctly felt a wondrous energy fluctuation emanating from it.

"This Companion Moon Lotus is a Soul Treasure of artifact grade. It was a gift he gave me long ago. Now that things have changed, keeping it only brings more sorrow. If you don't mind it, Junior Brother, I'd like to give it to you. If you do mind, then I'll have no choice but to destroy it!"

With her saying that, how could Lu Ye refuse? Was he truly going to watch Qin Yi destroy this Soul Treasure?

He quickly responded, "If Senior Sister bestows it, then it would be disrespectful for your junior brother to refuse!"

Soul Treasures were inherently rare, often many times more valuable than artifacts of comparable quality. Lu Ye wasn't sure of the exact power of the Companion Moon Lotus, but he knew it wouldn't be bad.

Moreover, although Soul Treasures were also categorized as artifact or spirit treasures, even a Star Constellation cultivator could activate the power of an artifact-grade Soul Treasure, unlike ordinary artifacts which even Star Constellation cultivators couldn't fully utilize.

Lu Ye himself didn't have much need for this Soul Treasure. He had the Soul Suppressing Pagoda in his Divine Sea, and while its quality might not be considered top-tier across the vast cosmos, he also possessed the Ghost Ship. Even a soul race like Li Shang had found no effective way to invade his Divine Sea, let alone anyone else.

This item would be perfect for Yi Yi, as she was a soul entity and it would be well-suited for her use.

Since Lu Ye had killed Bai Jin, Qin Yi naturally had to show her appreciation, and the Companion Moon Lotus was undoubtedly her token of gratitude.

Seeing Lu Ye accept the Companion Moon Lotus, Qin Yi nodded in satisfaction and then produced a pitch-black token, handing it to him.

Lu Ye took it with a questioning look. "This is..."

Qin Yi explained, "On this journey to the Myriad Manifestations Sea, a late-stage Moon-Illuminated cultivator from my Northern Profound Star System will accompany us. Should you encounter any difficulties in the Myriad Manifestations Sea, you can use this token to summon all cultivators from Northern Profound. To see this token is to see me; all Northern Profound cultivators must obey its command!"

Lu Ye was delighted. Compared to the Companion Moon Lotus, he valued this token more. After all, anything could happen in a place like the Myriad Manifestations Sea. If, one day, the cultivators from the Three Realms were bullied and Luan Xiao'e couldn't handle it, he would truly have no one to turn to for help; he certainly couldn't rely on Tang Jun.

If Luan Xiao'e couldn't handle something, Tang Jun would be even less reliable.

A late-stage Moon-Illuminated cultivator from Northern Profound should be quite powerful. Moreover, this token allowed him to command all Northern Profound cultivators, which indirectly meant Lu Ye now had a natural ally.

Qin Yi's gift was truly substantial.
