Winds Rise in Kyushu
"The Void Beast's core!" Luyingying suddenly exclaimed. She had stopped crying. Hongdandan, Mukui, and the snow-white strange beast all stood quietly by her side.
Lu Ye turned to look at her. "You recognize this thing?"
Luyingying nodded. "There are strange beasts in the starry sky, one of which is called the Void Beast. It's naturally endowed with unique spatial abilities, allowing it to traverse the void and travel anywhere in the starry sky. This is its core, left behind after its death. The bug tribe placed it here to use its power as a source to explore nearby tree worlds and then open pathways to those tree worlds!"
Hongdandan added, "However, Void Beasts are very rare, even rarer than our fairy tribe. And because they possess spatial abilities, they are very difficult to hunt. I don't know where the bug tribe obtained this."
Lu Ye secretly sighed, realizing that fairies were indeed knowledgeable and versatile. It would be even better if they were a bit more reliable.
"So, in that case, isn't this thing incredibly valuable?" Lu Ye realized.
Both fairies nodded. "It's very valuable and very rare!"
Lu Ye smiled faintly. "It belongs to Lu now!" Although he didn't know what it could be used for, since it was valuable and rare, there was no reason to let it go. At least his trip had yielded a good harvest. This also showed how much the Bug Emperor Realm valued its designs on the Tree Worlds; otherwise, they wouldn't have placed such a valuable item in a local bug nest.
Presumably, the powerful bug tribe members behind the scenes never imagined that someone could single-handedly break into this place and slaughter all the bug guards here with little effort. In fact, historically, there have been some prodigies from various races who indignantly forced their way in, but without exception, all of them became nutrients for the bug nest.
After playing with the core in his hand for a moment, Lu Ye suddenly turned to Mukui. "The Wood Spirit Tree World has also been suffering from bug tribe invasions, right?"
Mukui's wooden face immediately showed a furious expression. "Yes, many of our people have died fighting because of this, and some have been captured."
"So, if you were given a chance to avenge yourselves, would you seize it?"
Lu Ye realized that clearing out this bug tribe tree world by himself would be too much effort. Moreover, he still didn't know how vast the bug tribe's realm truly was. The Fairy Tree World wasn't large, but the bug tribe's tree world surely wouldn't be as small. Even if it was only two or three times larger, it would still be an extremely troublesome matter.
So Lu Ye wondered if he could leverage external help. Since the Void Beast's core could establish connections with certain tree worlds, wouldn't it be great to open a channel and bring over races willing to seek revenge? This shouldn't be difficult. During his recent investigation, he clearly sensed that he could use the Void Beast's core to open those channels, as the locations of those tree worlds were marked within the core.
Although Mukui's expression was dull, he was intelligent. As soon as Lu Ye spoke, he understood what he meant and said solemnly, "We will fight the bug tribe to the death!"
All the races living in the Tree Worlds were those who had previously lost their homes. They had finally managed to settle down in the Tree Worlds, only to suffer continuous invasion and devastation from the bug tribe. They had long since reached their limit. Unfortunately, each of their races was in a precarious situation, barely capable of self-preservation, let alone launching a counterattack. If someone could offer them such an opportunity, he believed no race would refuse.
Lu Ye then turned to the snow-white strange beast, which nodded repeatedly, its meaning very clear.
"Excellent!" Lu Ye was invigorated. With this, the biggest problem was solved. The rest depended on how he would execute his plan.
However, although the bug nest's core space wasn't small, it was ultimately too restrictive for what he had in mind. With a wave of his hand, he declared, "Let's fight our way out first!"
A group of figures swept towards the direction of the bug pathway. Before leaving, Lu Ye channeled his spiritual power and set fire to the bug nest's core, burning the surrounding fleshy walls clean. Along the way, they occasionally encountered isolated bug creatures, but under Lu Ye's Mountain-Shattering Blade, there was basically little resistance.
The two little fairies sat on his shoulders, one on the left and one on the right, each casting blessings—one enhancing his Mountain-Shattering Blade, the other strengthening his body. Lu Ye felt as though even a Constellation Realm cultivator blocking his way could be cut down!
In just a moment, they rushed out of the bug pathway and arrived in a desolate wilderness. As far as the eye could see, the land was barren. Places where low-level bug creatures ran rampant typically bore the marks of an apocalypse. Only where high-level bug creatures resided would there be a semblance of civilization.
Although he had a general idea for clearing out this bug tribe tree world, its actual implementation remained. Lu Ye wasn't sure what problems might arise. If it couldn't be implemented, then he would simply have to rely on his own power and take his time. It would just consume a lot of time.
Holding the Void Beast core, which resembled a lotus root, Lu Ye carefully sensed it. There were over a dozen imprints within the core, likely marking different tree worlds. These imprints were the result of the bug tribe's efforts here over ten thousand years. It wasn't to say that there were only these dozen or so tree worlds connected to the Reincarnation Tree. The Tree Worlds of the Reincarnation Tree were countless, housing numerous star-faring races. However, even with so many years of planning, the bug tribe couldn't have opened passages to all of them. A dozen or so was already a significant number.
Theoretically, by connecting with these imprints and relying on the core's inherent power, he could establish a connection channel to a world. The problem was that Lu Ye didn't know which tree world each imprint connected to. He would ultimately have to try them one by one. First, he needed to gather the Wood Spirit race and the snow-white strange beast's tribe.
Lu Ye arbitrarily chose an imprint and channeled his power into it. The void in front of the lotus root-like core immediately twisted, like ripples spreading across a calm water surface after a stone was dropped into it. A strange phenomenon rapidly expanded. In a blink, a swirling vortex formed. From within the vortex, information flowed out, and faintly, images from the other side's tree world could be seen.
"It's that simple?" Lu Ye was slightly astonished. However, he quickly stopped channeling his spiritual power because he realized that this time, the opened tree world led to the Fairy Tree World. He didn't intend for the fairies to participate. It wasn't that he thought fairies were unreliable; even if they were, they weren't suitable for this kind of involvement. He then tried the second imprint. Having succeeded once, the second attempt was much smoother.
His luck was good; this time, the opened channel led to the Wood Spirit Tree World.
"Go and bring your elders and people over immediately!" Lu Ye instructed.
Mukui plunged headfirst into the vortex and disappeared. The moment Mukui passed through the channel, Lu Ye realized a problem—his own spiritual power was being rapidly drained. Things were getting troublesome. He hadn't considered this earlier, but thinking about it carefully, teleportation inherently consumed energy. He really wanted to shout, "Don't come over!" But it was too late; shouting was useless, as they wouldn't hear him before coming through. He could only quickly take out a handful of spirit pills and swallow them.
The two fairies watched, dumbfounded, wondering what had gotten into Lu Ye that made him consume so many pills so frantically.
The Wood Spirits, arriving from their tree world, all bowed to Lu Ye with the utmost respect and reverence. They had been told in their secret realm that someone was helping them open a channel, giving them a chance to avenge themselves! They had expected such a human powerhouse to be magnificent and extraordinary, but upon arriving here, they suddenly found him consuming pills frantically, as if having a seizure...
Lu Ye felt that he was losing power faster than he could replenish it; the spiritual power consumption simply couldn't be made up by swallowing spirit pills. It wasn't until his spiritual power was down to twenty percent that he steeled himself, ready to cut off the tree world channel. He had done his best! But even with his huge consumption, fewer than a hundred Wood Spirits had arrived from the opposite tree world.
In the Divine Land, whether using Heavenly Dao Pillars or formation arrays for teleportation, it was always like this; there was no reason for it not to be needed here. If it was merely maintaining the channel's existence, the spiritual power drain on Lu Ye wasn't significant, as it relied more on the Void Beast core's abilities. However, if living beings passed through the channel, the consumption became substantial. One or two wouldn't matter... but if the numbers increased, he definitely couldn't sustain it!
This was quite awkward. This level of spiritual power consumption couldn't be replenished by consuming spirit pills or spirit stones. He needed to find a solution.
Just as Lu Ye was considering whether to set up a formation using the Void Beast's core, his spiritual power was suddenly drained again by a significant amount.
In the vortex channel, Mukui's figure returned, and he declared resonantly, "I haven't failed my mission!"
Lu Ye's eye twitched, feeling his spiritual power being drained further as another Wood Spirit emerged from the vortex channel. The Wood Spirits were highly efficient and quick. As they emerged from the vortex channel one after another, Lu Ye felt his spiritual power reserves plummeting at an alarming rate. Fewer than a hundred had arrived.
He'd have to fight alone then.
As he comforted himself, what was strange was that even without his spiritual power to maintain it, the vortex channel surprisingly remained active. Wood Spirits emerged from the vortex channel one after another, which made no sense at all. It consumed power. His spiritual power was being consumed, but now he clearly wasn't maintaining it anymore. Where was the power coming from?
