Lao Lv finally reached Qi Xia's side just in time to avoid being caught.
“Qi Xia!”Lao Lv shoved Qi Xia in front of him. “Someone's been killed! You have to save me…”
“What happened?” Qi Xia asked, puzzled.
Seeing Qi Xia blocking his way, A Mu was furious.
“Get out of the way!”
Qi Xia didn't move and instead reached out to stop A Mu.
“Hey, buddy, let's talk this out. What exactly happened?” he asked urgently. “Did my teammate piss you off?”
A Mu gradually slowed down and looked at Qi Xia suspiciously. “Are you their leader?”
After hearing that, Qi Xia scratched his head but didn't answer A Mu's question. Instead, he said, “Anyway, don't make a move yet. Tell me what's going on.”
“Fine, since you want answers, I'll make sure he dies knowing why.” A Mu said viciously, “Just now, this old dog…”
Before he could finish, an iron box flew toward A Mu's face.
He never expected the man in front of him to strike suddenly and couldn't dodge in time, getting hit right on the nose.
In that brief stumble, A Mu quickly regained his balance.
“Damn… you're something else.”
Although his nose still stung, A Mu realized that the man before him was not to be underestimated. If he let his guard down, he might get killed before the “punishment” arrived.
He had just steadied himself and hadn't even assumed a counterattack stance when Qi Xia threw another punch, landing it squarely on his face.
A Mu thought Qi Xia's punch looked amateurish and wouldn't pack much power, but to his surprise, he was knocked straight to the ground, with his temple throbbing in pain.
Qi Xia followed up with a fierce kick to his chin, leaving A Mu unable to get up from the floor.
Once he saw that his opponent was no longer a threat, Qi Xia slowly tossed away the lock head he had been holding. Getting hit in the temple with that thing would keep most people down.
“Who cares what happened?” Qi Xia said coldly. “You dare touch my teammate… You lost the bet, so deal with it.”
Just then, Guang Tou and Jin Mao arrived at the scene.
Qi Xia felt something was off—why was the other side's cabinet open too?
Had they also cracked the code right after him?
“A Mu!”
The two rushed over anxiously and saw A Mu lying on the ground, beaten.
“Kill them…” A Mu said weakly. “If we don't act now, we're going to get punished…”
“Damn it!” The two stood up and pulled folding knives from their pockets.
Seeing this, Qi Xia and Lao Lv stepped back.
Although Qi Xia had struck hard, he had no strategy against two highly focused thugs with knives.
“Hey! Di Gou!” Qi Xia gritted his teeth and shouted. “Player fights—aren't you going to stop this?!”
After a few seconds, a feeble voice came from afar: “Stop it? Of course I will! But please wait a bit—I'm packing up and will get there later.”
“Hah…” Guang Tou slowly raised his knife and said, “Sheng Xiao wants us to kill each other in the game anyway. Why would they interfere?”
Qi Xia's face darkened completely. He had never imagined that player-on-player violence was allowed under the “rules.”
Earlier, when they fought Zhang Shan in Di Niu's game area, Di Niu had only stepped in at the end to stop it.
This time, things would likely be even worse.
“Lao Lv… take Zhang Chenze and run,” Qi Xia whispered. “The room I was in has a window. Break it and get out.”
“Qi Xia… what about you?!” Lao Lv asked, panicking.
“I'll figure out how to handle them.”
“You…” Lao Lv's eyes darted around, and he quickly decided. “Then be careful!”
He turned, grabbed Zhang Chenze's hand, and rushed into the room. He pulled Jiang Ruoxue away from her seat, then picked up a chair and smashed the window.
“Hurry up!” Lao Lv shouted to Zhang Chenze. “Those guys are out for blood—they'll really kill us!”
Jiang Ruoxue watched the two with great interest, a smile curling at her lips.
“No, I can't go,” Zhang Chenze said. “Sir, please don't touch me.”
“What the hell is this about?!” Lao Lv felt the girl was being way too stubborn. “We're trying to escape here! What's wrong with me touching you?!”
“I'm not leaving if Qi Xia isn't,” Zhang Chenze said. “If you want to run, go ahead.”
With that, she picked up a slender piece of broken glass from the ground, gripped it in her hand, and turned to head out the door.
“Are you out of your mind, girl?!” Lao Lv was nearly frantic. He stepped forward and grabbed Zhang Chenze's wrist. “What do you think you're doing with that thing? They've got knives!”
“Please don't touch me,” Zhang Chenze said, her eyes turning icy. “In a place like this, running away won't cut it. I need to fight them.”
Jiang Ruoxue listened to their conversation and burst into laughter, clearly amused.
“You two are so entertaining…” She covered her mouth, laughing at the most inappropriate time.
Both of them glanced at her, but neither responded.
Lao Lv kept trying to persuade Zhang Chenze: “Kid, you've watched TV dramas, right? Sometimes people escape just fine, but others go back and get themselves killed… You're just making things worse!”
Zhang Chenze thought for a moment and replied, “If it's just Qi Xia alone, his chances of survival are indeed low. But if I join the fight with a weapon, our survival odds will multiply exponentially.”
“What the…?” Lao Lv was completely baffled. “You think charging in with a piece of glass will make things grow exponentially?”
Jiang Ruoxue couldn't hold back and laughed out loud.
“What are you laughing at?” Zhang Chenze asked.
“I…” Jiang Ruoxue walked over to Zhang Chenze and asked, “Can you tell me how you plan to deal with those two?”
“I don't know,” Zhang Chenze said, looking at the glass fragment in her hand. “If I'm lucky, I can stab one of them in the throat with this.”
Jiang Ruoxue slowly extended her hand and grasped Zhang Chenze's, speaking deliberately: “Sister, you need to understand the ‘logical relationship’ here.”
“Logical relationship?” Zhang Chenze was confused.
“Exactly, just like you said…” Jiang Ruoxue smiled at Zhang Chenze. “Because of your involvement, you and Qi Xia's chances of survival will increase. So, your appearance is certain to kill one of them. And to kill one of them, you absolutely have to stab his throat with the glass. It's all predetermined, so don't talk about ‘if you're lucky.’”
“What do you mean…?” Zhang Chenze still didn't get it. “Miss, aren't you on their side?”
“I'm about to die anyway—who cares about teammates?” Jiang Ruoxue slowly released Zhang Chenze's hand and said, “Go on. There's a life waiting for you to take.”
