Chapter 850: So

Upon hearing sounds outside, he kept silent. Instead, he opened his eyes, slowly moved to the door, gripping the handcuffs in his hand, and waited for the other person to open it.

If the other person was truly hostile, he could use the handcuff chain to strangle their neck and subdue them.

Just as Li Huowang's expression grew increasingly somber, a voice came from the window above him, saying, "That... Li Huo."

Li Huowang cautiously peered outside, turning sideways, and saw Zhao Ting, dressed in a blue and white striped patient gown, nervously looking around.

Her complexion looked much better, and she appeared much prettier than before. She had an oval face, delicate and refined, with a pair of bright, clear eyes staring at Li Huowang.

"Why are you here again?" Li Huowang asked Zhao Ting through the iron bars on the window.

"Didn't you ask me to come?" she replied. "You said the previous spot, where we got fresh air, was too conspicuous, and that this place, now that no one is around, wouldn't be conspicuous at all."

Glancing at the empty corridor behind Zhao Ting, Li Huowang said, "Try to keep it short. There are night patrols here, and many places have surveillance. It'll be trouble if you're caught."

"Okay," Zhao Ting said. She wrapped her arms around herself, rubbing hard, and stamped her feet from the cold. "What you said before, the boss knows about it now. He said to get people out first; as long as they're out, arranging their identities will be easy."

"Heh, that guy is playing a shrewd game," Li Huowang scoffed. "Tell him, absolutely not! I will not leave here by escaping."

Not wanting to involve Zhao Ting and the others was one reason; on the other hand, Li Huowang remembered exactly what kind of person Qingwanglai was. He had seen through him ever since Qian Fu died.

Although this guy appeared incredibly kind on the surface and was polite to everyone, he was essentially an extremely cold psychopath. He always only considered profit in everything he did, never emotion.

If he were to escape like this, it was foreseeable that he would be firmly under Qingwanglai's thumb, and Qingwanglai could use this to threaten him.

If that were the case, he might truly be forced to be his enforcer for the rest of his life.

Hearing this, Li Huowang saw Zhao Ting outside wearing a troubled expression, as if she didn't know what to do for a moment.

"If it's difficult for you, let me contact Qingwanglai!" Li Huowang said.

He also wanted to ask for clarification: during the previous crisis, why was he the one fighting desperately the entire time, while Qingwanglai himself hid completely and didn't show up at all?

If this guy was not only cold but also extremely selfish and afraid of death, then there would be no need for him to interact with such a Si Ming in the future.

Now it seemed that Zhao Shuangdian, who had only appeared once before, seemed friendlier, and perhaps he could try to contact her.

"Wait a minute," he mused. "If Qingwanglai is a projection of the Three Pure Ones, then which Si Ming is Zhao Shuangdian a projection of?"

Li Huowang remembered very clearly that the two Ba Hui siblings were with her. What kind of Si Ming could command Ba Hui?

Li Huowang thought back very carefully, but none of the Si Mings seemed to match Zhao Shuangdian.

"That..." Zhao Ting's delicate voice pulled Li Huowang's thoughts back to the White Tower correctional area. "Um, I'll go back and ask for clarification first. I can't make decisions about this."

"Alright, go ahead," Li Huowang replied. "This matter originally has nothing to do with you."

Seeing Zhao Ting turn to leave, Li Huowang suddenly called out to her, "Wait! I have something else to ask you."

"Hm?"

Looking at Zhao Ting's delicate face, the expression on Li Huowang's face gradually became somber. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, "Is depression easy to treat? A friend of mine also has this illness, and it has worsened recently. I'm a bit worried about her."

"Worsened? How serious is it?"

"I..." A trace of pain and longing appeared on Li Huowang's face. "I don't know. I haven't seen her in a long time; I only heard she's been attempting suicide."

"Then it should still be moderate, like mine was before, not the worst," Zhao Ting explained. "If it's truly severe depression, in that state, they wouldn't even think about attempting suicide; their mind wouldn't be clear enough."

Hearing this, Li Huowang breathed a slight sigh of relief, then asked Zhao Ting, "You seem to be recovering well now, right? Do you think depression is easy to treat?"

Zhao Ting bit her lower lip and gathered her thoughts for a few seconds, then began to explain, "If patients with moderate depression cooperate by taking their medication on time and have a good doctor, it's not considered difficult to treat compared to other illnesses. However, the most challenging part of this illness is that once you have it, it's prone to relapse if negative emotions accumulate and aren't processed in time."

"As for severe cases, I haven't reached that stage, so I don't know," she continued. "I've only heard doctors say that severe depression requires 'rebuilding the mind,' which sounds very troublesome."

After hearing Zhao Ting's explanation, Li Huowang nodded silently. If Nana's condition hadn't improved after he got out, then he should try to transfer her to Yi Donglai's care.

Although he didn't get along with Yi Donglai, he had to admit that Yi Donglai was indeed a very responsible and excellent psychiatrist.

If she could receive his treatment, Nana's condition should improve quickly.

Mental illness wasn't scary; he had experienced it too. Even if Nana was prone to relapses later, he wasn't afraid; he would stay by her side and take good care of her for the rest of her life.

A sudden rapid patter of footsteps, "da-da-da-da-da," sounded, interrupting their conversation and frightening Zhao Ting, turning her pale.

"Quick! Hide!" Li Huowang, still inside, fretted. "Don't go that way! There's surveillance over there!"

Shortly after Zhao Ting ran off, Li Huowang, who had lain back down on his bed, saw Yi Donglai and several orderlies open his door directly. "Li Huowang, who were you just talking to?"

Li Huowang rubbed his eyes, yawned, and climbed out of bed with an impatient expression. "Talking? What talking? What are you doing, not sleeping in the middle of the night?"

Yi Donglai walked to the doorway and casually reached up to take a recording pen from the doorframe. With a gentle press, Li Huowang's voice came out from it: "Quick! Hide! Don't go that way! There's surveillance over there!!"

Faced with undeniable evidence, Li Huowang stood silently.

"Did you think I wouldn't know if you didn't say anything?" Yi Donglai pressed. "Do you think I've been letting you out these past few days just for fun?"

Yi Donglai reached out and pressed beside Li Huowang's shackles, and a tiny memory card popped out from inside them.

"Zhao Ting, Gao Jinyun, Zhang Shuie, I remember correctly, don't I?" Yi Donglai stated. "These are the three people who have been contacting you these past few days."

"You've been talking to them for so long," Yi Donglai continued, "didn't you notice anything unusual?"

"Li Huowang!!" Yi Donglai suddenly rushed in front of him, glaring intently.

"Don't you understand yet?" Yi Donglai pressed. "You're crazy, but you're not stupid! They are clearly patients from Kangning Hospital, and this is White Tower! How could they possibly be here?!"

"So..." Hearing this, Li Huowang's pupils instantly dilated.

"So... that Qingwanglai guy didn't send anyone to save me? Did he really abandon me completely, like discarding a donkey after it ground the flour?"
