Chapter 724: Five Sister

Li Huowang remained trapped and motionless inside the overturned sports car. Watching the approaching figures from a distance, his heart pounded with urgency. He had to get out immediately; in his current state, he was completely at their mercy.

"Break!"

After several powerful blows, Li Huowang, his skull exposed, smashed against the glass once more. His entire bloody head, shards of glass embedded, pushed through the car window. He glared fiercely at the two individuals holding tools.

The two men flinched in terror at Li Huowang's appearance and quickly backed away. "Oh my God! It's a sports car! Run! We couldn't afford to pay for this even if we hauled freight our whole lives!" one exclaimed.

"I told you, don't take this road, don't take this road! You just had to take it to save a little on tolls!" the other retorted.

"Stop talking nonsense, get in the truck! There are no cameras here! They won't find us!"

As they fled, Li Huowang had already climbed out of the car, gritting his teeth as he charged toward the truck. They had hit him so brutally; running away wouldn't be that easy!

The truck had just started when he pulled out the dagger from his pocket and rushed to the front. Li Huowang stepped on the iron ladder at the front of the truck and scrambled up. Gripping the rearview mirror, he slashed the car window with his dagger, leaving a shallow scratch. "Get out of the truck!"

When the two men in the cab saw Li Huowang's blood-soaked head appear from below the window, they shrieked in terror and slammed the accelerator. Under the powerful acceleration, the rearview mirror Li Huowang was gripping ripped off. Without a foothold, he was flung towards the wheels.

The moment he hit the ground, Li Huowang, body tensed, quickly rolled to avoid the massive wheel. The next instant, he channeled all his strength, bringing the blade down to stab the tire. With a clang, the powerful impact shattered the dagger, and Li Huowang's hand was twisted. However, a gash was also torn in the tire.

By the time Li Huowang painstakingly got to his feet, the truck in the distance was already just a blur of red taillights. "Before, it was just kidnapping and surveillance; at most, Wang Wei would use a rope! Now they're actually hitting us with a truck!"

Watching the distant taillights vanish from his sight, Li Huowang's expression grew increasingly grim. If it weren't for his sharp senses, that last incident might have killed all three of them! The other party's actions were becoming increasingly reckless; he had to retaliate quickly and couldn't delay any longer.

"It's fine, I recorded it all. They're guilty of hit-and-run, full responsibility." Qing Wanglai, standing nearby, paused the video recording on his phone.

"How did you get out?" Li Huowang asked.

Qing Wanglai held up a safety hammer in his hand.

"Turning off your phone still won't work. They can still find our location through other means, which is why they sent people to ambush us! Never mind that for now, your head injury is more serious." Qing Wanglai took off his shirt and pressed it against Li Huowang's head wound. In moments, the white shirt was quickly stained red with Li Huowang's blood.

"It's nothing, just a minor injury. Let's go, we need to gather first! I'm worried about the others!"

"A minor injury? Are you kidding? Don't move. I'll get someone here." Qing Wanglai pulled out his phone and quickly dialed a number.

"Are you okay, Nana?" Taking a moment, Li Huowang looked down at Yang Nana and saw that her eyes were brimming with tears, looking at him with immense concern.

Qing Wanglai's friend arrived faster than Li Huowang expected; a dilapidated RV drove up from ahead. A cheerful woman with a blue headscarf, dreadlocks, and a brow piercing poked her head out the window. "Junior brother! What happened? A car accident?"

"What did I tell you? That car is just faster; in every other way, it's not as good as my third-hand RV."

"Fifth Sister, stop joking around. Can't you see there are injured people?"

Qing Wanglai and Yang Nana helped the blood-loss-weakened Li Huowang toward the RV. The RV didn't look large, and its interior was a bit messy, but it was set up very cozily.

This woman, known as Fifth Sister, quickly pulled out a medical kit. With skillful hands, she stitched Li Huowang's wound, applied medicine, and used a wooden splint to stabilize his broken hand. After a series of fluid actions, she even pulled out a syringe and gave Li Huowang two injections.

"It's good to be young and full of vigor. From the looks of it, you won't need a blood transfusion. Consider it a pre-donation." She patted Li Huowang's shoulder with her right hand, adorned with colorful nail polish.

"Thanks, Fifth Sister." Li Huowang immediately stood up, ready to get off the RV.

"Where are you going?" Qing Wanglai, who was sitting nearby, asked.

"Now that the injuries are taken care of, of course, I'm going to meet up with the others," Li Huowang replied matter-of-factly.

Qing Wanglai pointed to Fifth Sister, who was tilting her head back to drink water nearby. "She's one of the eight. We can just go in her car."

"You're Li Huowang? I'm Wu Qi. A pleasure to meet you." Wu Qi shook Li Huowang's good hand, then pulled back the curtain to go to the driver's cabin.

"She's one of them?" Li Huowang looked at her broad shoulders in surprise. This woman, who appeared to be in her twenties, didn't seem nervous at all.

"Fifth Sister, thank you so much for your help just now. You stopped Huowang's bleeding so quickly, you're really amazing." Yang Nana walked over and thanked her as she pressed the clutch.

"This is nothing, a minor issue. When I was in emergency care, I encountered cases many times more severe than this, and pulled them back from the brink of death."

Yang Nana glanced at Li Huowang, then asked, "Fifth Sister, did you used to work at a hospital?"

As soon as the topic came up, Wu Qi immediately brightened. "Yes, there used to be a saying: 'Counsel someone to study medicine, and they'll be struck by lightning.' It couldn't be more true. You're constantly busy, working to death, not to mention low pay and little time off. I truly don't know why I ever decided to study it. Several people would pass away in front of you every day; the negative energy was simply overwhelming."

Li Huowang's gaze drifted to the RV's decor. On the left side of the refrigerator, several travel photos were held by magnets. The most prominent one was a picture of her with the Leshan Giant Buddha. On the wall nearby hung a long, shimmering string of Buddhist prayer beads.

While Li Huowang observed the RV's layout, the conversation in the front continued.

"Then one day, I realized I was so busy I was almost losing my period, and I started wondering, what exactly are people living for in this lifetime? A person only has a few decades to live. Is it just to work themselves to death in this world for a few red bills?"

"Then I completely understood; I had an epiphany, you know? From now on, I'm going to live for myself, doing whatever makes me happy. Houses, cars, money—they're all worthless!"

"Since then, I finally understood what it means to be free from material desires, with a boundless world. Without those constraints, I'm much more at ease now than before."

"Girl, you should try it sometime too, really. That's what true living is all about."
