Chapter 662: Fengdu

“Senior Brother Li? Are you really Senior Brother Li? Senior Brother Li, are you here to save me?”Seeing Xin Jiangchun, who appeared to be Li Huowang, Yang Xiaohai seemed to find his anchor. He ran over and poured out everything that had happened, like spilling beans.

After Yang Xiaohai finished speaking, he saw Senior Brother Li scrutinizing him, and that gaze made him feel a little strange.

“Follow me,” Senior Brother Li said, then ignored Yang Xiaohai and quickly walked west.

Yang Xiaohai was actually hesitant, but then he remembered how Senior Brother Li had just saved his life from the strange man, and surely wouldn’t harm him. So, he quickly followed.

What he didn’t notice, however, was that Lu Juren, who had been impaled by the mourning stick, was struggling to get back up behind them.

The two walked one after another in the darkness. With Senior Brother Li in front, Yang Xiaohai suddenly felt much more at ease.

“Senior Brother Li, where is this?”

“Where is this? This is the very bottom of Qingqiu, Fengdu.”

“Fengdu? Oh, Senior Brother Li, my wife also came down with me. Can you help me find her?”

“Hahaha, don’t worry, you know the limits. I was just teasing him.” Xin Jiangchun said, then reached out and pulled Li Huowang up from the ground, and started walking back.

Having said this, Senior Brother Li (Xin Jiangchun) pulled Li Huowang and quickened their pace.

Hiding behind a giant pillar, Li Huowang saw this scene and seemed to notice something was wrong. “Li... Xin Jiangchun, that doesn't seem to be the way out.”

The strange seawater surged towards the previous giant pit. The rising misty aura from it made Li Huowang feel as if his body was melting.

Senior Brother Li’s brow furrowed. He quickly turned to look at the pit and the giant pillars. When he saw the pit gradually expanding, he cursed under his breath, “Here we go again.”

The two continued walking for about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, when the ground began to become rugged.

Just as Li Huowang was crying in utmost despair and loudest, Xin Jiangchun suddenly clapped his hands behind him and laughed triumphantly. “Hahaha! I tricked you! Actually, you’re not dead! Your ten emotions and four sufferings haven’t dispersed yet.”

Hearing this, Li Huowang’s body went limp, and he collapsed to the ground. “I’m dead? Am I really dead?”

As they talked, the tremors grew louder. Soon after, Li Huowang heard the sound of surging waves suddenly rise from the dark ground.

“Still don’t understand? Actually, you fell to your death that day. Since you died that day, you naturally fall under the jurisdiction of Kuiluo. Why not quickly merge with it? I specially came to see you off.”

“That’s not your way out. Do you know what these caves are, and these mounds that reach the surface?” Xin Jiangchun said, pointing at everything before them.

“Evil spirits, evil spirits from other places. It seems some people want to revive Kuiluo! Let’s go quickly, before we’re caught in the crossfire!”

“We’re all fellow disciples, no need to be so polite. Just follow quietly, we’ll be there soon.”

“Let’s go, I’ll see you out.” Senior Brother Li, with a smile on his face, extended his hand towards Li Huowang, attempting to pull him up.

Just as Li Huowang thought he could leave smoothly, a huge tremor sounded, and cracking noises echoed from both above and below.

Li Huowang glanced resolutely at Lu Juren, who remained in place, and quickly followed. This time, Lu Juren didn’t follow, staying put and lost in thought.

Soon, Xin Jiangchun saw small patches of dark seawater falling from his body. The seawater was strangely colored, like a decaying rainbow, a dull spectrum.

“They’re here! Let’s go up!” Senior Brother Li stomped his feet on the ground and, taking Li Huowang, jumped to the rock layer above.

In complete darkness, Li Huowang continued to follow Senior Brother Li. This time they were going downwards.

“Yang Xiaohai, what would happen if Kuiluo came back to life?”

“Kuiluo is the Si Ming who governs death. What do you think would happen if it came back to life?”

“Did we just meet?” Lu Juren looked at Xin Jiangchun with a bewildered expression, standing rooted to the spot and beginning to ponder again.

“You have a wife? That’s great.” Li’s lips curved slightly upward.

Li Huowang nodded in response.

Hearing this, Li Huowang looked at Lu Juren with some pity. “Yang Xiaohai, why did he become like that? Is Lu Juren dead?”

Hanging upside down below, Li Huowang was dragged by Senior Brother Li as they continued to rush forward. Although upside down, the two showed no signs of falling.

Li Huowang, who had suddenly stopped crying mid-sob, stared blankly at Yang Xiaohai before him, momentarily at a loss for words.

In some places, various giant pillars rose high, piercing the white light above, while other areas began to collapse, forming dark, enormous pits. Everything around them became incredibly bizarre and oppressive.

When he pinched himself and found no blood, he immediately broke down and cried loudly, “I haven’t even seen my parents yet, and I’m going to die! I want to live! I don’t want to die!”

As he laughed, the face on him changed from Senior Brother Li to Hong Zhong, and then back from Hong Zhong to Senior Brother Li.

“Yang Xiaohai, what are you even talking about? I don’t understand.” Li Huowang said, a little panicked.

Not long after, the two encountered Lu Juren approaching them. Lu Juren saw them and confusedly asked, “Grand Daoist? Yang... you’re called Xin Jiangchun, right? What are you doing here?”

“Yang Xiaohai? What’s ‘here again’?” Li Huowang asked, very confused.

Without waiting for Li Huowang to answer, Senior Brother Li (Xin Jiangchun) answered his own question. “That’s actually Kuiluo, the Si Ming who governs death. As for why it’s lying there motionless, of course, that’s because since it’s the Si Ming of death, it’s naturally dead. As for why it’s lying there motionless, that’s because since it’s the Si Ming of death, it’s naturally dead, hahaha!”

“Uncle Juren, what’s wrong? Didn’t we just meet?” Xin Jiangchun asked, looking bewildered.

“How would I know?” Xin Jiangchun said, and continued walking.

Li Huowang was unsure whether to grasp the outstretched hand. He felt that Yang Xiaohai before him also seemed a little strange. “Xin Jiangchun, you’re not trying to trick me again, are you? This really isn’t the time for games.”

After saying this, Senior Brother Li found his own words extremely funny. He held his stomach and laughed, laughing so hard that tears streamed from his eyes.

He was melting like a lit candle, dripping continuously into a pool of wax.

“Alright, stop wasting my time. Lu Juren’s ten emotions, four sufferings, eight souls, and one spirit have all scattered. Now, only death qi remains in him. He’s become part of Kuiluo, and he will only repeat brief moments over and over again. He doesn’t know what happened before, nor what’s happening now.”

“Senior Brother Li, thank you so much for this!” Hearing that Senior Brother Li had actually helped him save Zhao Xiumei, Yang Xiaohai thanked him very excitedly.

Inside the large pit, there were still faint green candlelight flickers. Some of the strange figures seen earlier were dragging their full mourning sticks and leaping into the pit.
