Chapter 171: Heart Integrity

When Danyangzi regained consciousness, he was astonished to find that his left arm, which he believed had been severed, had miraculously grown back.

Just as he was about to move, he was stunned to find himself trapped on an iron bed. Strong, wide fabric straps tightly bound his limbs, rendering him completely immobile.

Danyangzi continuously performed hand seals and chanted spells, and attempted to use other supernatural abilities, but found them all utterly ineffective.

He had now become like a pig on a chopping block, completely at the mercy of others.

This feeling brought him immense humiliation. Ever since he had seized a broken knife and killed someone at the age of ten, he had never been in such a helpless situation.

"Who is it?! Who dares to use an illusion on this Immortal?!" The unfamiliar surroundings made Danyangzi's expression contort as he roared at the woman in front of him.

"I don't care who you are! Just you wait! When my true body returns, you will all die!" Danyangzi gnashed his teeth as he bellowed at the woman before him.

Immediately after, Danyangzi saw the young woman in front of him, clearly terrified, scurrying out of the room.

"Doctor! Doctor, quickly! Something's seriously wrong with my son!"

Seizing this opportunity, Danyangzi exerted full strength, trying to pull his hands free again, but found them still utterly immobile. His expression shifting, he scanned the chaotic surroundings once more.

"The Way of Oblivion! It must be them! Perhaps there aren't just six of those swindlers; they might have more hidden, waiting to ambush this Daoist!"

A short while later, Danyangzi saw the young woman return, accompanied by two men in white coats.

"Three people? These three have restrained me, yet they make no move against me. What exactly is their objective?"

As Danyangzi tried to guess the intentions of the three before him, one of the doctors spoke.

"Xiao Li, look, who is she to you?"

A doctor wearing round plastic glasses pointed with his pen at Sun Xiaoqin, who stood nearby, and asked.

At this moment, Danyangzi also calmed down. "Speak. Who sent you? To hinder this Daoist's ascension to immortality, how long have you been following me?"

The doctor, hearing such absurd words, seemed completely unsurprised. He calmly nodded and wrote something on a clipboard with his pen.

"And do you remember your name?"

Danyangzi understood this question. He began to change his strategy, saying in a solemn voice: "I am Danyangzi, Abbot of Qingfeng Temple. How dare you act without even knowing who I am? Daoist friend, from which sect or school are you?"

"This Daoist has lived for many years, traveling far and wide. I know many people, and perhaps your elders are even my friends. Release me, and once this Daoist attains immortality, you will certainly be rewarded."

Hearing this, Sun Xiaoqin grew anxious and quickly interjected: "Son, what nonsense are you speaking? You're not Danyangzi; you're Li Huowang!"

"Li Huowang?" A flicker of confusion crossed Danyangzi's eyes, but then he violently shook his head.

"No! There's no such thing as Li Huowang! There has only ever been Danyangzi! Those are all fake! From beginning to end, they are this Daoist's inner demons, this Daoist's three corpses!"

Sun Xiaoqin anxiously wanted to say something more, but the doctor stopped her with a hand. "Ms. Sun, please try to control your emotions, won't you? Can you wait until we finish our questioning?"

Hearing this, Sun Xiaoqin, whose hands were tightly gripping her shoulder bag, nodded. Suppressing her deep worry, she retreated to a corner of the room.

The two doctors looked at the young man before them. After exchanging a few words, they solidified their strategy, with one asking questions and the other taking notes.

A chair was pulled over. The doctor sat down beside Li Huowang's bed, crossing one leg over the other.

"Alright then, Danyangzi, may I ask another question? What is one plus one?"

Hearing the man in the white coat, Danyangzi immediately felt confused. Why was the other party starting to talk nonsense?

However, Danyangzi was currently pleased to let the other party babble, believing that as long as he stalled until his true body returned, he would win.

After the two probed each other for a while, neither obtained the information they desired.

The doctor, his brows furrowed, tapped his pen against the notes on his pad, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

"Strange, the condition has been stable for so long, but new symptoms have suddenly emerged. Ms. Sun, has your son experienced any other external stimuli recently?"

"No! Everything's been fine!" Sun Xiaoqin replied eagerly. "My son is very well-behaved. He even talked to me on his birthday recently!"

After considering it carefully, the doctor said, "If it comes to it, we should transfer him to another hospital first. Your son's internal fistula has been removed, and he can excrete normally now, so he can be transferred to a proper psychiatric hospital."

"The doctors there are more specialized than those in a Grade A tertiary hospital, so treatment there will be better. Don't worry, I will record today's events in his medical history, which won't delay his treatment."

"But my son is like this, how can he be transferred?"

"Ms. Sun, don't worry. Relapses in his condition are very normal. You need to give your son some time. I'll prescribe some peridone and olanzapine soon; he'll be fine on the way."

Not long after, Danyangzi soon saw two burly men approach his bed and drag the bed frame out.

"Where are you taking me?! Let this Daoist down! When I become an Immortal, this Daoist will kill you all!"

Hearing this, a nurse aide burst out laughing, which in turn displeased Sun Xiaoqin.

"My son is a patient! What's so funny? Is it amusing to mock a patient?"

After speaking, Sun Xiaoqin, her face full of tenderness, gently stroked her son's face.

"Don't be afraid, son, Mom's here. With Mom here, no one will dare bully you."

Danyangzi, who had been raging, suddenly froze. The soft touch on his face and the woman's sincere gaze unlocked a deeply buried, distant memory within him.

Gradually, the face of the woman before him began to overlap with a blurry face from his memories.

Staring intently at the worried, round face in front of him, Danyangzi's chin trembled. "Mother?"

No sooner had he spoken than Danyangzi saw his surroundings rapidly revert. Everything white quickly faded, and the blood-scented cave reappeared before him.

"What... what... what exactly is... going on?"

Danyangzi, his expression fluctuating, scanned his surroundings. He had encountered many strange and sinister things, but never anything as bizarre as what was happening today.

Danyangzi quickly drew his sword and moved to the side, observing everything around him with extreme vigilance.

"Where has my true body gone? Why hasn't it returned yet?"

Danyangzi, feeling a growing sense of unease, began to grow anxious.

Although nothing appeared out of the ordinary, he knew that the illusion he had just experienced was certainly not something an ordinary person could create.

The person who had targeted him was definitely no ordinary individual!

"Master..." Suddenly, a chillingly familiar voice exploded behind Danyangzi's ear, making all the hairs on his body stand on end instantly.
