Chapter 653: Writing a Letter

Episode 1: Secret Technique "Three Autumn Leaves"

Jiangzhou City, the Meng family residence.

“Oh?”

Liu Qiyue, emerging from her meditation chamber, looked on in surprise at the distant study, where Meng Chuan, with his white hair draped over his shoulders, was sitting and writing something.

“Is he writing a letter? A-Chuan rarely writes letters now,” Liu Qiyue wondered. Meng Chuan's consciousness could now cover the entire Cangyuan Realm; he could simply transmit messages to give orders for anything. Given his status, personally writing a letter was very unusual.

Liu Qiyue walked over.

Meng Chuan finished writing a letter with his brush. With a wave of his hand, sixty-two sheets of paper appeared beside him, each bearing the identical text.

“A-Chuan, sixty-three letters?” Liu Qiyue entered the study. “Are you sending these to all the Venerables currently in the Cangyuan Realm?”

“Yes,” Meng Chuan nodded.

After the ancient slumbering King-Sealed Godfiends had awakened and broken through, the number of Venerables in the Cangyuan Realm had reached an astonishing sixty-plus. Excluding Liu Qiyue, Meng An, and Meng Dajiang and his wife, there were precisely sixty-three.

“This matter is very important, so I had to personally write a letter to each of them,” Meng Chuan said.

On Two World Island.

Venerable Qianmu, with his black hair draped over his shoulders, stood in the courtyard.

“Fate plays strange tricks,” Venerable Qianmu sighed with emotion. “After sleeping for hundreds of years, I unexpectedly gained a rare treasure from outside the realm, restoring my peak vitality and allowing me to break through to the Venerable realm, thus extending my lifespan by another 1,500 years.” He recalled that when he first awoke, he had fought alongside Meng Chuan, True Martial King, Molten Fire King, North Stream King, and others in the World Gap, battling the demon race.

In that battle, True Martial King was the central figure, but he and Meng Chuan were also crucial. Having reached the sixth level of the Primal Spirit and utilizing the Demonic Cone Forbidden Art, he wielded immense deterrence at the King-Sealed Godfiend level.

After the war, he went back into slumber, as Two World Island greatly valued such a powerful combatant.

He was awakened this time because Emperor Dongning, Meng Chuan, had gifted them rare treasures that restored peak vitality, enabling these old-timers to break through to the Venerable rank.

“When I was young, the war hadn’t begun. When I roamed the world, the threat of war with the demon race wasn’t as great. After awakening from centuries of slumber, the world was in chaos, at its most critical juncture,” Venerable Qianmu mused. “At that time, Meng Chuan was the youngest in our group, yet already a core figure. Who would have thought he would completely end the war and cultivate to an unimaginable realm… According to intelligence reports, he is the strongest in the entire Three Bay River system, and even the most powerful expert in the entire Goddess River domain.”

“This era of war, however, produced an extraordinary hero,” Venerable Qianmu felt his heart stir.

In the distance, a shadow flew over and landed, revealing a demon servant.

The demon servant respectfully presented a letter: “Venerable Qianmu, this is a letter from Emperor Dongning.”

“A letter from the Emperor?” Venerable Qianmu was astonished. Given Meng Chuan's current status, he could simply transmit messages to give orders. A letter?

He immediately took it with solemnity.

The aura of Primal Spirit power contained within the letter’s text was impossible to forge.

“Outside our realm, there is a mystic realm named Kunyun Realm. Ten years spent there correspond to only one year in the Cangyuan Realm.”

“The cultivation environment there far surpasses that of the Cangyuan Realm.”

“It is teeming with experts, far more than in the Cangyuan Realm.”

Venerable Qianmu read the contents, his heart surging.

It was incredibly difficult for a Venerable to become an Emperor. On average, only one Emperor emerged in the Cangyuan Realm every hundred thousand years, meaning hundreds of Venerables might produce just one Emperor. Cultivating in their homeland, they lacked opportunities and guidance from seniors. Venturing outside the realm without support carried a high mortality rate. In contrast, the demon race, when venturing out, had the protection of demon Emperors, and at home, they had demon Emperors preaching, and even guidance from demon Tribulation Realm mighty figures.

The cultivation conditions for both sides were vastly different.

“Now that resources are abundant, and with Emperor Dongning’s guidance through his teachings, if we also have the Kunyun Realm, perhaps one out of twenty Venerables could become an Emperor, and one out of ten Venerables could become a Heaven-Earth Realm Venerable,” Venerable Qianmu said, reading the letter’s description.

The breakthrough ratio was Meng Chuan’s estimation.

He combined the breakthrough ratios of cultivators in the Kunyun Realm with the fact that Cangyuan Realm cultivators, despite a harsher environment, could still become Venerables (implying generally higher innate talent than Kunyun Realm Venerables). Coupled with his own cultivation efforts, he believed such a breakthrough ratio was achievable.

“Even aspiring to become a Heaven-Earth Realm Venerable, nine out of ten still fail. Should I leave my homeland and cultivate in a foreign land…?” Venerable Qianmu pondered.

“There aren't many people left in this world whom I deeply care about, so I will venture into the Kunyun Realm and give it a try,” Venerable Qianmu decided.

“My dear, what do you think?”

Yan Jin looked at his wife beside him. His wife, Mu Fengxue, read the letter, then looked at her husband: “Do you wish to go, husband?”

“The letter says the time flow in the Kunyun Realm is ten times that of the Cangyuan Realm. One hundred and fifty years in Cangyuan means one thousand five hundred years in Kunyun… My remaining lifespan would quickly be gone,” Yan Jin chuckled. “Moreover, I’m self-aware. Only one in ten Venerables can become a Heaven-Earth Realm Venerable. Becoming an Emperor is even rarer. I only became a Venerable with the aid of an exotic treasure from beyond our realm, so my hopes of becoming a Heaven-Earth Realm Venerable are very slim.”

“Abandoning my family for that slight hope?” Yan Jin shook his head. “I won’t choose that.”

Mu Fengxue looked at Yan Jin: “I will cultivate diligently and become a Venerable too.”

“Yes, you also have hope,” Yan Jin said, looking at his wife.

Mu Fengxue was also a genius disciple of Yuanchu Mountain, once Yan Jin’s apprentice, and had always followed him. She was now also a King-Sealed Godfiend. Having cultivated for over three hundred years, she originally felt she had reached her limit. However, the rules Meng Chuan had now set gave hope to these King-Sealed Godfiends: as long as they met the two conditions of ‘Cave Heaven Realm and fifth level Primal Spirit’ before their lifespan limit, they could become Venerables.

“The letter also states,” Mu Fengxue continued, “Although it’s difficult for a Venerable to become an Emperor, even a Venerable still has the chance to create an Overlord-level Godfiend Body technique. For example, the Vast Sea Demon Body, the Lightning Annihilation Demon Body… nearly half of the Overlord-level Godfiend Bodies were created by Venerables. In contrast, many Emperors in human history did not create Overlord-level Godfiend Body techniques. As long as one can create such a technique, treasures will be bestowed according to the magnitude of their contribution.”

“Indeed.”

Yan Jin nodded. “Meng Chuan and I knew each other as youths. I know his character well; he has dedicated his life to humanity. He likely hopes to create as many Godfiend Body systems as possible to perfect the Godfiend system.”

Among the twelve Overlord-level Godfiend Bodies of humanity, two require dragon bloodline and phoenix bloodline, so strictly speaking, there are only ten types of Overlord-level Godfiend Bodies.

Naturally, Meng Chuan held hope for every human Venerable and would not be stingy with his rewards.

“I won’t go to the Kunyun Realm, but I will truly try to create an Overlord-level Godfiend Body. After becoming a Venerable, I felt that the Azure Lotus God Body wasn’t highly compatible with me,” Yan Jin said. Back then, he could only choose one out of ten, picking one that was relatively compatible. He hadn’t been able to cultivate the Azure Lotus God Body to perfection. Perfect compatibility usually only came from personally creating one’s own technique.

“The Kunyun Realm?”

“This is indeed an opportunity,” Bai Yaoyue said, reading the letter’s description. Her talent was extraordinary; she felt incredibly close, yet she couldn’t quite break through that final layer to create a Heaven-Earth Realm ultimate art. Clearly, the Kunyun Realm, with its superior cultivation environment, offered her hope.

“I truly never imagined that the child Nianyun bore would completely change the Cangyuan Realm and my own destiny,” Bai Yaoyue mused. Who would have thought that Bai Nianyun, marrying Meng Dajiang, a mere mortal, could give birth to a figure as brilliant in Cangyuan Realm history as Meng Chuan?

These Venerables each made their own decisions.

Some wanted to stay in their homeland, nurture the future of their sects, and live peaceful lives, as the previous war had lasted too long.

Others wanted to strive and advance further.

On a day of falling snow.

Thirty-four Venerables gathered in the Cave Heaven Pavilion of Yuanchu Mountain.

“Everyone,” Meng Chuan addressed the people before him.

Among them were senior Venerables like Qin Wu, Luo Tang, Bai Yaoyue, and Jing Fei.

There were also Venerables who had broken through from slumbering King-Sealed Godfiends, such as King Qianmu, King Tongming, and King Beimu, as well as some spirited younger generation Venerables.

“I hope you can become Heaven-Earth Realm Venerables and Emperors,” Meng Chuan said. “Even more, I hope you can perfect the Godfiend system techniques for humanity. There must be pioneers and trailblazers for future generations to cultivate truly complete techniques.”

The Venerables present all felt their hearts stir. Each had their own pursuits, and the Kunyun Realm represented a larger world of opportunity.

“Every hundred years in the Kunyun Realm, I will be able to send people back to the Cangyuan Realm,” Meng Chuan told them. “Anyone who wishes to return can seize this opportunity.”

“Depart.”

Meng Chuan gathered everyone into his portable Cave Heaven, and then this Primal Spirit avatar departed the Cangyuan Realm, heading for the Kunyun Realm.

Demon Mountain.

Within Demon Mountain, only Meng Chuan, a sentient being, was present.

Throughout the entire River of Spacetime, only a little over a hundred contemporary beings could freely enter and exit Demon Mountain, all of them holding considerable status. An ordinary Sixth-level Tribulation Realm mighty figure might not even have heard of Demon Mountain.

Those beings of extremely high status paid little attention to the weapons and other items left within the Demon Mountain range. Meng Chuan, however, was there with his true body from beyond the realm, specifically to search for treasures.

“To cultivate King-Sealed Godfiends and Venerables for my clan, I must try my best to collect these items,” Meng Chuan thought. Each time, after collecting for a month, he would leave Demon Mountain first, wait for his Primal Spirit to recover to its peak, and then re-enter for another month.

Although Demon Mountain caused damage to the Primal Spirit, the impact of the outer mountain range on the Primal Spirit was very low. In earlier times, Old Demon Heifeng and others had stayed in the outer regions for quite a while. Furthermore, Meng Chuan was at the sixth level of the Primal Spirit Tribulation Realm, and his mental will was high enough that staying in the outer range for just a month would allow him to fully recover quickly upon leaving. Of course, he still dared not trespass on the 'Path of Enlightenment'; if he reached the seventh level of the Primal Spirit Tribulation Realm, he could freely roam the entire Demon Mountain.

“I’ve worked hard for three months, and only collected 150,000 cubic meters in total. It seems there aren’t many treasures left in the outer ranges of Demon Mountain,” Meng Chuan mused, a hint of melancholy in his voice. The good days of collecting treasures were nearly over; it wasn’t easy even for a Sixth-level Tribulation Realm mighty figure to accumulate treasures.
