Episode 11, Chapter 24: Fate and Glory (End of this Episode)
Meng An nodded seriously.
"An'er has indeed reached the Realm of Force. He's demonstrated it to me already," Liu Qiyue added from the side.
"Show me," Meng Chuan said, unable to hide his excitement.
He wanted to personally witness his son's spear art, now in the Realm of Force.
"Alright."
Meng An confidently stood up and walked out. Meng Chuan and his wife, along with Meng You, moved to the corridor. Soon, Meng An brought a long spear.
"Father, watch closely!" Meng An said with high spirits. He swung his spear and struck down fiercely, unleashing a violent force towards the lake in front of them. With a rumble, the spear's energy howled, causing several feet of lake water to explode.
"The Realm of Force, he has indeed reached the Realm of Force," Meng Chuan thought, his heart brimming with pride. He himself had risen from a remote place called 'Dongning Prefecture,' and his primordial spirit talent had earned his master's high regard, making Meng Chuan quite proud. In the process of raising his children, his son had little interest in painting, though his daughter did, but she was far from the 'Path of Heart-Inquiry.'
Meng Chuan had even considered that his children might be somewhat ordinary, but he would still strive to nurture them.
And now...
The scene before him made Meng Chuan realize that his thirteen-year-old son, Meng An, who had comprehended 'Force,' was a peerless prodigy, no less talented than Xue Feng or Yan Chitong.
"Good!" Meng Chuan burst out laughing. "An'er, well done!"
Receiving his father's praise, Meng An was overjoyed.
"Your talent in spear art is even higher than I anticipated," Meng Chuan said with a smile. "Your future achievements could very well surpass both your mother's and mine."
Liu Qiyue nodded from the side, looking at her son with great anticipation.
Although she knew her husband's greatest talent was his 'primordial spirit talent,' and it would be very difficult for their children to catch up to their father, she was still full of hope. Moreover, her son's talent was indeed that of a peerless prodigy. Even Creation Venerables started from humble beginnings, and her son might also go very far on his cultivation path in the future.
"I will work hard," Meng An nodded.
The family returned to the table and began to eat dinner together.
"An'er," Meng Chuan said, looking at his son with satisfaction. "Since you've comprehended 'Force,' you can now go to Yuanchu Mountain for cultivation."
"Yuanchu Mountain?" Meng An's eyes showed anticipation.
Both his parents were Godfiends from Yuanchu Mountain.
Since childhood, he and his sister Meng You had aspired to become disciples of Yuanchu Mountain as well!
"With your talent, Yuanchu Mountain will directly offer you special recruitment," Liu Qiyue asked from the side. "An'er, when do you plan to go?"
His sister Meng You couldn't help but interject, "If my brother goes to Yuanchu Mountain, will he have to stay there for ten years, or even longer?"
"Yes," Liu Qiyue nodded. "During your father's and my time, we usually stayed on the mountain for over ten years. And now, there are too many demon kings in the world, so only top Great Sun Godfiends are qualified to join Godfiend teams. Therefore, you'll stay on the mountain even longer... However, with An'er's talent, he's estimated to be able to descend the mountain within fifteen years. Even after descending, he'll have to follow Yuanchu Mountain's assignments."
Meng An softly said, "Will it be hard for me to see Mother and Father then?"
"Yes."
Liu Qiyue gently nodded. "Mother must guard Jiangzhou City and cannot leave without authorization. It will likely be over ten years before I can see you again. Your father, however, can occasionally go up the mountain to see you."
"Yuanchu Mountain has rules; one cannot frequently disturb disciples," Meng Chuan said. "The number of times I can see you will also be limited."
According to Yuanchu Mountain's cultivation rules, those years were meant for disciples to grow independently and cultivate in solitude.
"Understood," Meng An nodded gently. "Father said that the sooner one starts cultivating the Godfiend path, the better. Only then is there a greater hope of becoming a Marquis or Regal Godfiend. So, I'll go up the mountain as soon as possible."
Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue exchanged a look.
They were both pleased with their son's choice and pained by the impending separation.
After more than a decade of guidance, their son had grown into an adult, and now they were to be separated.
"I will write a letter to Yuanchu Mountain first to inform them about your situation," Meng Chuan said. "Stay home for a few more days, prepare everything you need, and then you can go up the mountain."
"Yes," Meng An replied obediently.
On Yuanchu Mountain, it was night.
"Venerable, these are today's documents," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord said, carrying a pile of scrolls. Venerable Qin Wu sat there, calmly taking the scrolls and beginning to read them. "Any major developments?"
"It's been relatively stable; nothing major has happened within the Great Zhou territory," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord replied, then smiled. "Oh, by the way, Junior Brother Meng Chuan wrote to me."
"Wrote to you?" Venerable Qin Wu was surprised.
Meng Chuan's secret identity was Yuanchu Mountain's First Inspector, and he usually wrote directly to Venerable Qin Wu.
"It's about something important," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord chuckled. "His son, Meng An, who is thirteen this year, has already reached the 'Realm of Force.' His talent is extremely high, comparable to Xue Feng and Yan Chitong."
"Oh?" Venerable Qin Wu showed delight. He was naturally pleased that Yuanchu Mountain would gain another peerless prodigy. "I remember Meng Chuan had a pair of children when he was thirty-six. If I recall correctly, his children's birthday is on the third day of the ninth month."
"Yuanchu Mountain must naturally summon such a peerless prodigy. I've already written to Junior Brother Meng Chuan," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord said with a smile. "I won't arrange for someone to pick him up; let Junior Brother Meng personally bring his son over."
"Hmm," Venerable Qin Wu nodded.
Although he was pleased, this was still a minor matter.
Because being a peerless prodigy only meant one was almost certain to become a Marquis, but becoming a 'Regal Godfiend' was still very difficult. It didn't significantly impact the overall situation.
"Junior Brother Meng Chuan has sent an astonishing number of demon king corpses in the past three months," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord couldn't help but exclaim excitedly. "Including the most recent delivery, he has killed over nine thousand three hundred demon kings in the last three months. Among them, he also slew a fourth-heaven great demon king."
"So, Meng Chuan's information must remain confidential," Venerable Qin Wu said, looking at him.
"Among the Regal Godfiends, only I know," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord replied respectfully. "It hasn't been spread to anyone. Junior Brother Meng and his wife are also cautious, so they definitely won't let it slip."
"Good, the longer it remains confidential, the better," Venerable Qin Wu stated.
The Yuanchu Mountain Lord inquired, "Once Junior Brother Meng's son goes up the mountain, will his cultivation be handled according to the usual protocol?"
"Everything will follow the usual protocol, equivalent to Xue Feng and Yan Chitong," Venerable Qin Wu replied. "As for the future, it will depend on his son's own potential."
"Understood," the Yuanchu Mountain Lord affirmed.
Early morning, Meng Mansion.
Meng Dajiang and Liu Yebai also arrived at the Lake Heart Pavilion. A group of people gathered there, all to see Meng An off.
"Your clothes for all four seasons, and your daily necessities, Mother has put them all in here," Liu Qiyue said, handing a storage bag to her son, her eyes slightly red. "After this separation, Mother might not see you for over ten years. Once you're on Yuanchu Mountain, you must take good care of yourself alone. If anything happens, just write directly to Mother and Father."
"Hmm," Meng An also nodded, his eyes red.
Meng Chuan stood silently to the side, watching Meng Dajiang, Liu Yebai, and Meng You each bid farewell to Meng An.
After a long while, Meng Chuan finally walked over. "It's time to depart."
Meng An looked at his father. "Yes, Father."
"Remember to write," Liu Qiyue urged.
Meng Chuan, with his son in his Dark Star Domain, took flight, soaring towards the distant horizon.
"An'er!"
Liu Qiyue couldn't hold back her tears.
"Children grow up; they must eventually spread their wings and fly," Meng Dajiang sighed.
"We sent you and Meng Chuan up the mountain the same way back then," Liu Yebai added.
Meng Chuan flew with his son above the clouds and mist, moving as fast as lightning, directly towards Yuanchu Mountain.
Everything on Yuanchu Mountain was already arranged.
"Whoosh."
At Jingming Peak, in Meng Chuan's former cave residence, father and son descended from the sky, landing in front of the residence.
Elder Yi and Steward Liu of the cave residence, among others, were already waiting.
"Elder Yi," Meng Chuan said, bowing respectfully after landing.
"Junior Brother Meng," Elder Yi smiled. "Thirty years ago, the scene of you coming up the mountain is still vivid in my mind. Now, your son is also coming up."
Meng Chuan also sighed. "Time passes quickly."
Back then, he and Qiyue were still very young when they cultivated on the mountain.
Now, he had already slain a vast number of demon kings, outwardly a renowned Marquis Godfiend, and secretly, Yuanchu Mountain's First Inspector. His wife was also a Marquis Godfiend stationed in Jiangzhou City.
"Young man," Elder Yi looked at Meng An and smiled. "Every Yuanchu Mountain disciple can choose any cave residence. Are you sure you don't want to choose? You'll just live in your father's residence?"
"My sister and I discussed it. I'll live in my father's residence, and when my sister comes up, she'll live in Mother's residence," Meng An said.
"Good."
Elder Yi smiled and nodded. "You should visit the Library Cave often to read and quickly choose the Godfiend body and spear art you wish to cultivate. I believe your parents have already told you about these things."
"Yes," Meng An nodded.
Meng Chuan had little time; he was exhausted from daily underground investigations.
His mother, Liu Qiyue, however, had given very detailed instructions, even carefully telling her son about all twelve types of super-grade Godfiend bodies and finding information files for him to read beforehand.
"Junior Brother Meng, I won't disturb you and your son," Elder Yi said with a smile, then took his leave.
Meng Chuan also helped his son replace the daily necessities inside the cave residence with the ones they commonly used at home.
Half an hour later.
Outside the cave residence.
"Father," Meng An said, looking at his father with deep reluctance.
It was time for a real separation.
Meng Chuan, too, felt a myriad of emotions. He looked at his son and said solemnly, "An'er, becoming a Godfiend and slaying demon kings is what we are meant to do."
"From now on, you must also shoulder the responsibility and fight against demon kings," Meng Chuan continued. "There's an old saying... 'A true man should aspire to great things.' And we Godfiends, we should aspire to eradicate all demon kings in the world. This is our destiny, and it is our glory!"
"Father, in the future, let's slay demons together," Meng An's eyes burned with fervor.
"Good," Meng Chuan smiled. "Our father and son will slay demons together! This is our promise, so you must now cultivate diligently and not be complacent!"
"Yes," Meng An replied. "Father, rest assured, your son will cultivate diligently."
Meng Chuan nodded slightly.
He then turned and transformed into a streak of light, streaking across the sky towards the east.
Meng An stood in place for a moment, softly whispering, "Father, I will definitely not disappoint you." He then turned and walked towards the cave residence.
