Chapter 570: Heavenly Tribulation Tempering the Soul, The Ox Returns

Within the Moon-Worshipping Domain, at its very center, lies a sacred place known as the Plains of Repentance.

It was once sacred because it housed the Imperial Palace of the Domain Lord.

Now it is sacred because it has become the headquarters of the Red Moon Divine Temple.

Though called plains, it is actually a vast inland island surrounded by a sea of sentient beings' blood, its scope comparable to an entire county.

On these Plains of Repentance stands a kneeling statue, its height surpassing all mountains in the Moon-Worshipping Domain, seemingly as tall as the heavens and earth, and astonishingly vast.

This was the former Domain Lord.

Even in death, a terrifying aura still emanates, covering all directions. And atop its head stands a colossal crown-shaped palace.

This palace is crimson, like a sealing shackle, suppressing this place and causing the Domain Lord's statue's knees to sink slightly each year.

This is the headquarters of the Red Moon Divine Temple.

Around the statue, countless divine temples have been built. Cultivators in red robes come and go, everyone quiet, everything silent.

This is because the Divine Son dislikes noise.

But today, two streaks of rainbow light roared from the north and east, like two sharp blades tearing the sky, shattering the silence, and hurtling towards this place.

The northern streak carried an aura of endless death, transforming into the armored daughter of the Domain Lord.

The eastern shadow stirred up an infinite storm, changing the colors of heaven and earth, and coalesced into a figure in a brown robe.

A momentum that could devour mountains and rivers erupted from these two figures. Where they passed, the sky wrinkled and the void collapsed.

Their arrival caused the blood sea on the ground to churn and the divine temples to tremble.

A terrifying aura filled with destructive intent descended. At that very moment, a gentle voice softly emanated from the temple atop the Domain Lord's statue.

"Brother Shizi, and my dearest Third Sister," the voice said, "your escape from captivity is quite a surprise to me."

As the words echoed, a crimson figure walked out from the temple of the statue.

His appearance caused the sky to change color, auspicious rays of light to streak across the heavens, and brilliant splendor to radiate for miles. Boundless light spread from his body, extending across the entire world.

He stepped into the sky, where the heavens and earth became hazy and all things twisted, as he directly faced his arriving blood relatives.

As they gazed at each other, the three astonishing figures unleashed a collision of their respective worlds, blurring everything.

The level of their battle was beyond the perception of ordinary beings. Those on the ground could only see the sky churning, with the sun, moon, and star rivers appearing simultaneously.

Countless temple cultivators bowed their heads, their expressions pious, all prostrating themselves in worship as murmurs from their mouths converged.

"Red Moon, our Lord, answer ancient pleas, let suffering beings find peace in paradise."

This sound, like a song, drifted through heaven and earth.

As for the outcome of this divine battle on the Plains of Repentance, no one knew, but the ripples it caused enveloped the entire sky of the Moon-Worshipping Domain.

It was as if celestial fire had swept through again, affecting the rules and disrupting the laws.

All living beings could not ascend to high altitudes during this time. Even the vessel Xu Qing and his group were on, after flying to the southern edge, rapidly began to descend.

It was eventually put away by the Captain, and the four of them had no choice but to land on the ground, standing on a mountaintop.

Standing on the rocks, the Captain and Xu Qing looked up, gazing into the distance, while Wu Jianwu felt his heart pounding and Ning Yan's expression was grim.

After a while, the Captain looked at Xu Qing, their eyes meeting.

"They've started fighting," Xu Qing said calmly.

"It's too early; success will be difficult."

The Captain shook his head. After commenting, he took out a peach and took a bite.

"However, it's not a bad thing for us," he continued. "It's just that we can't get involved in this matter right now. We'll continue with our plan."

"Little A'Qing," he added, "next up is your Senior Brother's territory. Are you ready?"

For the Captain, what was most important at this moment was not the battle happening at the divine temple, but Oxhorn Mountain, where they were headed.

He intended to let Xu Qing know of his past glory there.

Xu Qing remained expressionless; the Captain had said this seven or eight times already along the way.

Seeing Xu Qing wasn't cooperating, the Captain threw him an apple. Xu Qing caught it, and after taking a bite, a look of anticipation appeared on his face.

The Captain was immediately pleased.

Wu Jianwu and Ning Yan, who were nearby, looked at each other and sighed. When Xu Qing wasn't around, they had never received fruit from the Captain, and now that Xu Qing was here, they still hadn't.

"Let's go!" the Captain said triumphantly, just about to set off.

Xu Qing paused, looked up at the sky, and suddenly spoke.

"Senior Brother," he asked, "what do you think would happen if I were to summon a heavenly tribulation at this moment?"

The Captain immediately understood Xu Qing's meaning. After glancing at Wu Jianwu and Ning Yan, he spoke via spiritual transmission.

"Your Purple Moon Nascent Soul?"

Xu Qing nodded. All of his Nascent Souls, after the incident in the Northern Ice Plains, had reached the Great Perfection of the first tribulation.

The Captain pondered, looked up at the sky, and then smiled.

"Little Junior Brother, your idea is interesting," he said. "This domain has experienced an extraordinary battle, so the laws of heaven and earth are in chaos. This is not common. If you summon a heavenly tribulation at this time, two possibilities might arise."

"The first scenario," he explained, "is that the heavenly tribulation cannot arrive, being blocked outside, thus saving you from the catastrophe and granting you destiny."

"As for the second scenario," he continued, "the heavenly tribulation might descend in an even more astonishing manner, even affecting your soul."

"So, have you thought it through?" The Captain looked at Xu Qing.

Xu Qing's eyes showed contemplation as he slowly spoke.

"If it's the latter," he said, "the destiny gained should be greater, and my soul would receive more tempering."

Hearing this, the Captain's eyes gleamed with an unusual light.

"Exactly," he confirmed. "Especially the tempering of the soul. Under this lightning, the effect is excellent."

"I want to try," Xu Qing said calmly after pondering.

"Actually, there's another way," the Captain added, licking his lips, intrigued by Xu Qing's idea. "You can hide in your small world."

Xu Qing found this reasonable, so the two discussed it, found a valley nearby, and began preparations.

Ning Yan and Wu Jianwu watched them discuss this the entire time, both finding it incredible, and couldn't help but exchange words outside the valley.

"Why do I feel like they're courting death again?"

"Be more confident. Remove the words 'feel like'..." Ning Yan sighed and rapidly moved away from the valley. He had a bad feeling, but before he could run far, his premonition came true.

A suction force erupted from within the valley, enveloped him, and directly pulled him in.

"Little Junior Brother," the Captain's voice echoed from within the valley, "we still have weapons! With weapons, you'll have a better grasp."

The Captain's voice echoed in the valley. Wu Jianwu shivered and rapidly fled until he was a thousand *zhang* away, hiding in a hollow. As he looked towards the distant valley, he heard a massive roar coming from the sky.

The thunder was so immense it shattered all directions, as if a deity roared from the sky.

Wu Jianwu took a breath and retreated another thousand *zhang* before feeling a little safer.

At this moment, the changes in the sky became even more terrifying. A massive vortex rumbled into existence, with countless bolts of lightning coursing within it, finally converging to form a thunder dragon.

To Wu Jianwu's horror, this thunder dragon roared and charged towards the valley.

The next moment, the ground trembled. The valley was instantly engulfed by the thunder dragon, rocks crumbled, and countless electric lights spread across the ground, transforming the area into a pool of lightning.

Faintly, Ning Yan's screams seemed to emanate.

Wu Jianwu's scalp tingled. As he retreated further, the sky's vortex spun even more massively. A second lightning tribulation was drawn from all directions; even the lightning pool on the ground rose, connecting with the sky.

Looking around, lightning bolts in this area appeared one after another until they all converged and smashed down again onto the collapsing valley.

The ground cracked open.
