Chapter 633: Revenge

Rain Hitting Bluestone

Before, when Qin Sang met Yuan Hu, he had noticed unusual tattoos on the two priests from Tianyue Village. Now, seeing the priestess dance, he finally saw the full picture.

"Could it be some kind of divine pattern?" Qin Sang stared at the priestess, muttering to himself.

He noticed that after the divine patterns appeared on the priestess, a strange, unprecedented power seemed to drift from the distant Witch Tribe members. Some of it gathered on the priestess, while another portion drifted into the mountains, absorbed by other priests from Winged Serpent Village. After absorbing these energies, the divine patterns on the priestess clearly intensified.

With a sudden burst of divine pattern power, the priestess frantically raised her arms, uttering strange sounds and crying out to the sky, as if wanting to ascend.

The bright moon remained. But around Winged Serpent Village, a fine drizzle began to fall. The Witch Tribe members cheered, seeing it as a blessed rain bestowed by the Witch God. They lifted their faces, opening their mouths to catch the raindrops.

"What peculiar divine patterns!" Qin Sang exclaimed in admiration. He had originally thought that Witch rituals were merely a means for Witch Tribe cultivators to control mortals, but now it seemed far more complex. This rain was clearly summoned by the priestess, yet Qin Sang hadn't seen her use any spells. It was purely the power of the divine patterns, influencing the celestial phenomena.

To Qin Sang, the power of the divine patterns on the priestess was very weak, but he could discern that these patterns were extraordinary, likely a unique ability of the Witch Tribe. In fact, compared to their life-bound Gu insects, Qin Sang felt that the divine patterns held greater potential. Life-bound Gu insects were external objects, whereas divine patterns were integral to the cultivators, a power they controlled themselves.

However, for some unknown reason, Witch Tribe cultivators seemed to prioritize life-bound Gu insects as their most important method, paying less attention to divine patterns. Even Yuan Hu and Cui Xuanzi of the Five-Insect Sect had no divine patterns on their bodies at all. Why did the Five-Insect Sect abandon this path, which seemed so clearly suited for Witch Tribe cultivators? Did divine patterns have no future? Or perhaps, like the human race, the Witch Tribe had lost many things from ancient times until now?

Qin Sang fell into deep thought.

Just then, the priestess changed her Witch dance. The rain gradually stopped, and she extended her hand to point at the wooden building by the lake. All the moonlight in the sky converged there, illuminating the front of the building as brightly as day. There, 'Saintesses' dressed in magnificent feather robes, each pure and beautiful, held various rare flowers and herbs. They formed a line and, guided by the moonlight, ascended the mountain. These rare flowers and herbs were, in fact, spirit herbs. The Saintess at the very front held a spirit herb with blood-red leaves in her hands—it was Red Leaf Grass.

They walked up a stone staircase, which led to a cave. The cave was pitch black, and strange 'hissing' sounds occasionally emanated from within. Some Saintesses turned pale with fright, while others harbored anticipation. No one noticed that the hands of the Saintess at the very front, holding the Red Leaf Grass, were trembling slightly.

Qin Sang stood in the shadows, hands clasped behind his back, silent.

Finally, the procession of Saintesses reached the mouth of the cave. The leading Saintess was just one step away from entering the cave, but she suddenly stopped. The priestess hadn't expected this to happen; her dance steps faltered, and anger flashed in her eyes as she pointed at the Saintess. Moonlight converged behind the Saintess, about to push her forward.

Suddenly, a brilliant blue sword light erupted from the Saintess! In that instant, even the bright moon in the sky seemed to dim. A dragon-like sword cry instantly drowned out the thunderous war drums, echoing through the mountains and valleys as if countless sharp swords were unsheathed, shaking heaven and earth! The priestess turned pale with shock, her face filled with terror.

From the mountain, a thunderous roar erupted, "Who dares to ruin my tribe's great affair! Get out!"

Then, trees rustled as several figures dashed out from the dense forest. The leading elder's face was contorted with rage as he fixated on the Mute Girl and the Cold Gold Sword in her hand. With his eyesight, he could naturally see that the sword was not being wielded by the Mute Girl; someone else was secretly controlling it! But what disturbed the elder was that he couldn't sense anyone hidden nearby, nor could he detect the presence of the person in the shadows through the Cold Gold Sword. Someone had infiltrated the village without his knowledge, and the elder's unease grew. He roared, "Bone Array!"

Around Winged Serpent Village, a clicking sound suddenly arose from underground. Then, white bones burst forth from the earth—some animal bones, some human bones, none of them complete. The eerie white bones appeared even paler under the moonlight, a truly bizarre sight that caused many young girls to cry in terror. As the Bone Array manifested, wisps of shimmering blue flames suddenly flew out from between the bone seams, like a river of blue stars. They seemed slow but were actually swift, drifting towards the Mute Girl.

The Mute Girl seemed to hear nothing and see nothing. Gripping the Cold Gold Sword tightly with both hands, she fiercely unleashed a sword strike towards the cave. The sword light was incredibly dazzling, making it impossible to look directly at it.

Boom!

With a deafening crash, the cave collapsed. Rocks flew everywhere, mixed with the severed bodies of several snakes.

"No!"

The elder, the priestess, and the others turned deathly pale, screaming in agony. Their life-bound Gu insects had been effortlessly severed by that single sword strike, offering no resistance whatsoever. They were utterly terrified, realizing that the person in the shadows was incredibly formidable and could easily slay them. They even abandoned the Bone Array, turning and fleeing.

The Mute Girl turned around and unleashed a second sword strike, dispelling the blue flames of the Bone Array. When it came to the third sword strike, the Mute Girl hesitated for a moment, but then resolutely swung the sword.

"You all deserve to die!"

The Mute Girl's eyes were bloodshot, killing intent consuming her mind. She incessantly repeated the word 'kill,' pulling out the Cold Gold Sword, about to hack the elder's corpse to pieces. Even when a hand pressed down on her, she continued to struggle.

"Sleep now."

Upon hearing this gentle voice, the killing intent in the Mute Girl's heart immediately receded like a tide. She obediently closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
