Chapter 2176: Naraku Ten's Intent

A Fantasy Novel

The divinity fragment obtained back then was merely a piece, yet its trial was difficult enough to kill gods.

If He Lingchuan wanted to be acknowledged by the complete divinity, he would inevitably have to undergo even more brutal trials later.

This was certainly not good news.

Naruo Tian then asked him, “The possessor of the Divinity of Fate can never again foresee their own destiny. However, at the very moment of obtaining the divinity, there’s one chance to glimpse one’s future, and only one. Did you see it?”

He Lingchuan recalled the lake scene he had witnessed during the trial. He had probably guessed it then.

“I saw a few images.”

Naruo Tian chuckled. “Judging by your expression, your future doesn’t look very good.”

“How likely is it to come true?”

“This is a prediction made by the Divinity of Fate itself, what do you think?” Naruo Tian’s laughter held deep malice. “How can someone who wields ‘fate’ ask such a childish question?”

He Lingchuan gave a faint scoff, changing his line of questioning. “If it were the complete Divinity of Fate, the Grand Square Pot shouldn’t be able to absorb it from your grasp, right?”

“Saint Lord Lingxu obtained a fragment of the Divinity of Life and spent thousands of years to complete it based on his own comprehension. I have only had the fragment of Fate for a little over a century, and ‘fate’ is the most elusive of the three Sacred Powers,” Naruo Tian said slowly. “Even if I gave it to Saint Lord Lingxu, he couldn’t complete it in just a century.”

He Lingchuan caught the key phrases. “Saint Lord Lingxu can complete the Life fragment himself? Then his understanding of the laws is already on par with that of the former God of Life, isn’t it?”

The Three Holy Gods were ancient deities of the demon realm. They condensed the powers of life, death, and fate that they commanded into divinities. Therefore, a divinity was both a source of power and an embodiment of the laws.

Saint Lord Lingxu’s ability to complete the Divinity of Life by himself very likely indicated that his understanding of the ‘power of life’ was already close to that of the ancient gods.

This was truly astonishing.

“Saint Lord Lingxu’s power is simply unimaginable to you.” Naruo Tian looked again at the Divinity of Fate floating before them, regretting that he was not in the mortal realm and thus unable to obtain it.

For thousands of years, the Divinity of Fate had returned to its complete form for the first time. But Naruo Tian understood that this was not He Lingchuan’s doing at all, but rather the power of the Grand Square Pot!

Only this supreme divine artifact possessed such immense power.

He Lingchuan inquired again, “How does Saint Lord Lingxu’s power compare to True Lord Qianhuan’s?”

Instead of answering, Naruo Tian countered with a question. “Are True Lord Qianhuan and Miaozhan Tian fighting to a stalemate in the Upside-Down Sea?”

“Yes.”

“Let me put it this way, Miaozhan Tian was once easily defeated by Saint Lord Lingxu,” Naruo Tian snorted. “You’d better pray that Saint Lord Lingxu doesn’t descend upon this world himself. I can’t imagine what power in the mortal realm could possibly contend with him now.”

Surprise showed on He Lingchuan’s face. “He will descend upon the world? When?”

“Stop pretending,” Naruo Tian said, disdaining He Lingchuan’s feigned ignorance. “You already know.”

He Lingchuan shrugged. “I thought you were going to be kind enough to share information about the gods’ descent with me.”

Naruo Tian chuckled lowly. What kind of unrealistic dream was this kid having? No matter how desperate he became, he could never betray his true identity.

“Or perhaps, the descent of the gods is only Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities’ undertaking, and the Kshatriya Heavens have no part in it?” He Lingchuan unhurriedly dropped a provoking remark. “For all these years, we’ve contributed miasma to your demon realm for nothing. If I were Saint Lord Lingxu, I probably wouldn’t want to play along with you anymore.”

Speaking of which, Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities controlled Beijia to produce the most miasma in the mortal realm, making the greatest contribution to the demon realm. However, the miasma was absorbed by the Sky Net Star and drawn into the demon realm, benefiting all demon gods equally. Without using the Dragon Punishment Pillar, Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities would find it difficult to secure a special share for themselves.

Everyone received roughly the same amount, so there was no need to contend.

Over the past few millennia, this mandatory rule had been remarkable. It curbed greed in both human and demonic natures, kept the demon realm stable, and ensured the death rate of demon gods was far lower than that of mortals. As a result, miasma continuously flowed into the demon realm, while spiritual energy in the mortal realm withered.

But how could Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities not harbor resentment?

They did all the hard and tiring work, so what contribution did the Kshatriya Heavens and the wild gods make that allowed them to enjoy the same amount of miasma as Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities?

They worked hard but received little, and on top of that, they had to support a multitude of idle and useless gods who opposed and cursed them!

Given any opportunity, Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities would surely want to shed these burdens and descend to the mortal realm themselves.

He Lingchuan understood human nature exceptionally well, and presumed demonic nature was not much different; ‘self-interest’ was a common trait among intelligent beings.

Naruo Tian did not respond.

Was he speechless, or unwilling to say more?

“It seems you’re not very clear on the progress of Saint Lord Lingxu and his deities’ experiments.” This was likely the demon realm’s top secret, perhaps known only to a few core members of Saint Lord Lingxu’s deities, so it was not surprising that Naruo Tian couldn’t get the information. He Lingchuan simply changed the subject. “What about Mitian then? The Divinity of Death he obtained was also a fragment; has it completed itself?”

“I don’t know that,” Naruo Tian said, sounding somewhat dispirited. “Mitian is very mysterious; the gods don’t know much about him.”

“When did he obtain the fragment of the Divinity of Death?”

Naruo Tian yawned. “You ask a lot of questions.”

The implication was that he had no obligation to answer. He was a Heavenly God, while He Lingchuan championed a cause against Heavenly Gods; why, then, should he clarify things for He Lingchuan?

He Lingchuan smiled. “Tell me, what do you really want with me?”

“I have already removed the mark in your sea of consciousness, and you are no longer at risk of being possessed by a god,” Naruo Tian said slowly. “As a matter of courtesy, shouldn’t you release my avatar?”

A few years ago, his avatar had been tricked by He Lingchuan into Dragon Coiling Ancient City and had since lost contact. But Naruo Tian clearly knew that this avatar still existed and had not perished.

Now he understood that the avatar was most likely imprisoned by the Grand Square Pot. He Lingchuan had used this method to prevent him from descending again.

Now that he had personally erased the mark in He Lingchuan’s sea of consciousness, freeing him from this concern, shouldn’t the boy named He return the favor?

Since both parties wanted to cooperate, both had to show sufficient sincerity.

He Lingchuan raised his index finger and lightly tapped his forehead, feigning contemplation. In reality, he was giving the Divine Bone Necklace time to react.

Any Heavenly God manifesting an avatar in the lower realm required immense divine power. Now that miasma was scarce, Naruo Tian naturally hoped to retrieve his avatar so his power could recover further.

Furthermore, He Lingchuan had been exploiting a loophole in the divine descent rules. As long as Naruo Tian’s avatar existed in the mortal realm, he could not send down a second avatar. This deprived him of a crucial method and even prevented him from personally responding to He Chunhua’s request.

Therefore, retrieving this avatar was of great importance to Naruo Tian.
