Chapter 1850: The True Face of the Blood Demon

Qianhuan's soul exploded, not only killing the Shadow Dragon but also causing the entire isolated city of Panlong to totter.

The previously impregnable west and east city walls began to peel and crumble from top to bottom. Stones and limestone fell into the sea, immediately swallowed by the water.

After all, this place was different from the real world; the destruction of Panlong Isolated City was gradual, collapsing little by little.

Only the south gate tower remained standing. It had originally faced the Panlong Wilderness, serving as the first and most robust barrier to confront enemies and protect its people.

But Miao Zhantian knew it wouldn't hold out in the end.

A lone wall could not withstand.

She wasn't entirely sure what kind of treasure this was, but she was secretly astonished by the fortress of Panlong Isolated City.

What did this isolated city within the sea of consciousness represent? Was it the power of law that Qianhuan had yearned to comprehend during her life?

What kind of law was so difficult to grasp?

Miao Zhantian was also somewhat tempted. Once the isolated city was swallowed by the sea, and she claimed the sea of consciousness as her own, perhaps this secret would become hers.

A secret that Qianhuan had diligently sought for sixty years must be of immense significance.

At this moment, the sea surface grew increasingly turbulent, and the repercussions of Qianhuan's death began to spread through the sea of consciousness.

The water level continuously rose; the waves, which were initially below the cliff rocks, now surged higher and higher, crashing against the gates of Panlong Isolated City!

Once the seawater poured into the city, the isolated city's collapse would naturally accelerate.

She could even hear the sound of the waves, right outside the city gates.

Miao Zhantian let out a soft breath, preparing for that moment to arrive.

The wind in the sea of consciousness began to intensify at some unknown point, making her hair whip around.

Once she got out, she vowed to kill every member of the Illusion Sect in the Upside-Down Sea, including those dozen or so troublemakers surnamed He, to sate her hatred!

A moment passed.

And then another moment.

The sound of the waves persisted, but no spray rushed in through the cracks of the south gate.

Instead, the wind grew stronger.

What was going on? Miao Zhantian immediately sensed something was wrong, took two steps, jumped onto the city wall, and looked down.

Why wasn't Panlong Isolated City being swallowed by the sea? Because a colossal red shadow was carrying it on its back, lifting it out of the water!

Panlong Isolated City itself was a magnificent fortress, but this red shadow was even larger, almost like land in the sea.

Its back was so broad that Miao Zhantian couldn't discern its overall shape; she only knew this creature definitely had no fins.

It simply floated in the sea of consciousness, carrying Panlong Isolated City, making no other movements.

"Chaos!" Miao Zhantian uttered its name slowly, still in shock.

This majestic, desolate aura, this vast and profound existence, she had only ever felt from the Dragon God.

But this creature was definitely not the Dragon God, so only one possibility remained.

"Great Square Pot, so it was you causing trouble after all!"

Miao Zhantian gritted her teeth.

Chaos's uplift delayed the collapse of Panlong Isolated City, but it was merely a delay.

The Shadow Dragon guarding the isolated city had been defeated; the secret protected by the fortress's high walls would surely be revealed.

It was only a matter of time.

However, Chaos's sudden appearance still gave her a very bad premonition.

This was an unexpected variable.

After a series of battles and severe injuries, the thing Miao Zhantian hated most was variables!

Just then, she heard some strange noises coming from within the city, like broken tiles and wood fragments being shifted in the ruins.

Miao Zhantian immediately turned around.

Panlong Isolated City had already collapsed by half, with buildings askew and broken walls and wood scattered everywhere. The Blessing Pond in front of the Mitian Temple was also covered by the collapsed high walls of the main hall.

The sound came from this broken wall.

It shook a few times, as if something beneath it was striking, then it flew out with a crack, breaking into two halves in mid-air.

The Blessing Pond revealed most of its surface, and Miao Zhantian's pupils contracted slightly because something was emerging!

This was not even Qianhuan's sea of consciousness; anything emerging from the Blessing Pond would first have to pass through the passage sealed by the Great Square Pot and Chaos.

This meant—

Was it He Xiao and his group?

However, the monster that leaped out of the Blessing Pond next was somewhat unexpected.

This creature had a human face and a goat's body, even a full beard on its face, with two horns on its head, and a mouth full of sharp teeth. It was less than a zhang (about 3.3 meters) tall, with a slender build, resembling a slimmed-down Qilin. However, its claws were not like those of a lion or tiger, but rather like a zombie's, with thick knuckles and sharp nails.

This appearance was very peculiar, like a combination of a goat and a human. Miao Zhantian recognized it at a glance and blurted out, "Paoxiao?"

Why would the Great Square Pot let such a creature in? Where did it come from?

Moreover, this creature didn't entirely resemble the Paoxiao in her memory; it also had a ghost face on its chest and one on each side of its waist. Its body was embedded with several small eyes of various sizes and types—some with round pupils, others with vertical pupils, blinking occasionally. It looked both bizarre and malevolent.

The Paoxiao also spotted her immediately but didn't charge directly. Instead, it circled the edge of the Blessing Pond for a few steps, as if waiting for something.

It had companions?

Soon, a second figure leaped out of the Blessing Pond.

This was a familiar face: Xiao Wencheng.

Miao Zhantian, somewhat surprised, stood on the city wall and looked down from above: "Xiao Wencheng, you've actually colluded with He Xiao. How worthy you are of your Immortal Venerable!"

Anyone emerging from the Blessing Pond must have had the Great Square Pot's permission. It was clear that the remaining two factions in the Upside-Down Sea were now allying to deal with her.

On closer thought, this was perfectly logical. All living beings possessed the instinct for self-preservation.

Xiao Wencheng remained silent.

Miao Zhantian then extended an olive branch: "As long as you help me deal with He Xiao, I will not only spare your life, but the Heavenly Palace will also enthrone you as a Protector Lord, with an unending supply of incense and spiritual energy. You'll no longer have to reside in the Upside-Down Sea, managing these useless mundane affairs!"

Forced by the circumstances, her words were particularly earnest.

Although both were advancing towards the city wall, the Paoxiao always remained one step behind Xiao Wencheng. She keenly noticed that this creature's will to fight wasn't as firm. If she could deal with Xiao Wencheng, the Paoxiao might not be a major problem.

If she had said these words to Xiao Wencheng fifteen minutes earlier, he might have wavered. After all, with Qianhuan dead, Xiao Wencheng's first thought would have been how to survive.

However, times had changed. He Lingchuan had already laid out the pros and cons to him beforehand, preparing him. Xiao Wencheng's momentary temptation quickly dissolved into the harsh reality.

With the Blood Demon and He Lingchuan by his side, he could still fight Miao Zhantian now. If they won, everything would be fine, so why bet on the enemy showing mercy?

How foolish it would be to trust the enemy?

So he flipped his hand, and the Gou Mang Golden Sword was already in his grasp.

The Paoxiao, however, roared at him, a sound only he could understand:

"Where's the one surnamed He?"

Xiao Wencheng's eyes flickered. Both had jumped into the Haoyuan Golden Mirror almost simultaneously, so why hadn't He Lingchuan appeared yet?

Could it be that this kid had passionately convinced him and the Blood Demon to come in and fight, only to shrink back and watch from the sidelines himself?
